The place has been upgraded and updated since my first time and a bit more efficient... I believe minors can get their community credits volunteering here as well.... I usually go with a group that is part of either a church or other organization and I join with friends....shout out to UCLA Dept of Medicine.... Warning if you are volunteering the worst thing I did were ONIONS LOL....and you throw so many away just cuz they aren't good....oh man...don't do onions if you go! :) Most times you are bagging fruits or veggies into mesh type bags so they can be put in the LA Food Bank boxes for distribution to those in need.... Come here volunteer and do your part for the community!

I am low income,…read moreand didnt quite have the mandatory $50 to spend but i wanted to pay at least half of that to get fewer items... Going through a rough time today, went by several pantries and food banks. Turns out that Thursday is a popular day to not distribute any food. I was advised to come by here and that the people here are nice and accommodating. I arrived and was immediately assisted by an older woman whom was very kind and sweet, she directed me to a desk area where an annoyed looking younger woman sat, whom looked and sound like she didn't want to be bothered and was trying to get people out of her hair. When it came time to ask i attempt to ask if I can pay "half for less" and she told me its only 50 they dont offer any other help it is what it is and she couldn't direct me anywhere else. She said she can charge per item but I would end up paying more. I was stunned at the lack of dignity I recieved here....from this worker in particular. She was rude up until I didn't want to even try anymore, at that point she told me byyeeeee have a blessed day! I had brought with me paperwork and everything to show I was disabled and in need just to get by for the remainder of the week but I felt super unwelcome.

As many now a days with not enough money to cover daily living, i went to this place to find out…read moreabout receiving some food assistance. The place is near the freeway/LA river and n industrial area. Three employees there. One middle age lady, the receptionist and a gentleman at a desk in front of a computer. The treatment while descent was not what i expected. I was given a flier with options to go for food. this place i was told was to distribute food to partners, not for the public. I was told "if you hurry, run, you can go today tuesday to a place 15 minutes from here." Maybe I did not look like I needed some eggs and bread or maybe I was expecting too much, but I imagined if i asked for help with food, I would have been given information but also told i could get something basic there. But I was not. It is a bank food after all. They must have 'something' to offer the hungry at their door. But I understand, they are there to distribute to partners, not public. Do not go there to get food, call and find other places where it is distributed to individuals rather.

It's always good to give back to a community even though I've never needed their help. I've had the…read morepleasure to work with like minded people in helping out the less fortunate. It's just take a little time and effort and with a community of people you can help many more out there. Today our immediate group put together 2400 boxes to help 2400 families. It's a group effort indeed as different groups help out in different areas. We put together boxes and send them into the production assembly line where others put into the boxes nutritional items and then they are sealed shut and stacked onto pallets which are eventually transported to pantries around the area and or delivered directly to individuals. Elementary students up to adults help out. You can signup your group to take on a weekend for a great cause. You also can do it for student credit for like when colleges want to see how well rounded you are and how you impact your community. It's fun and you meet new people.

She has poured her life, blood sweat and tears onto helping others. She is known to ignore her own needs in order to help others with whatever they're needing. From food, clothing, shoes, blankets, assistance in obtaining a job, a place to live, toys, appliances and so much more. She puts in hours of work giving of herself without blinking and eye. Her heart is filled with helping others in her community and it fills her with joy doing so. She's amazingly contributing selflessy and I want to personally commend her efforts for doing all this for others.

I saw A list of families in need to adopt for Christmas.... Most are single moms struggling to make…read moreends meet... but want to give their kids something for Christmas So we adopted a little girl.... This is the location for drop off.... While I was there I saw a number of bins allocated for this cause.....But the bins are not full yet and we only a few days to go until Christmas....many children & family's are hoping for a helping hand.... Julie Anna told me the program started in her home....She also said some of the people they help are victims of crime.... many different kinds of help are needed.... The building is overwhelming inside....Not sure where one area starts and the next ends... but Julie Anna knows.... She is very friendly and willing to explain what they do there..... it looks like she could use some help.....she was all alone there when I stopped by on Saturday .... My first impression is .... Needs are being met in the community...... they're Trying to keep people fed, clothed, sober and SAFE.. I don't live in this area but I can see the need here....and will make an effort to drive here to give her my future donations.....
