The last few weeks, a sweet girl named Annika has been leading the story time. What a wonderful heart she has. A genuine, sweet energy. She reads with enthusiasm and engages the children kindly and with patience. She really makes it special for everyone in attendance. Staff can be found throughout this location if you need help. My interaction with employees has always been positive; they have great attitudes, they're helpful, and they're knowledgeable! After spending some time looking for a specific book today, I finally asked an employee who was restocking books in the opposite end of the aisle if she could look up book to see if it was in stock. I gave her the name of the book and instantly she said, "oh yeah, that book is this way.." bam! She grabbed the book off the shelf and handed it over. Amazing! This location is clean and easy to navigate through. My kiddo can spend a good hour in the kids section..there's smalls nooks and kid size benches to sit and read. Very cute. I come here often, they offer a wide selection from religion to nonfiction. Happy reading! ( they also sell audio books, board games, puzzles, book markers- enjoy! )

We spent time browsing and were never asked if we needed assistance. The atmosphere felt unwelcoming and indifferent, which made us feel like our business wasn't valued. On top of that, many of the books and items seemed significantly overpriced compared to other bookstores. Customer service can make a huge difference in a shopping experience, and unfortunately this visit fell far below expectations. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this bookstore and will not be returning.

They examined each volume and offered a fair price for the ones worthy of selling in their store or at book fairs. I learned many of the books were in good condition and very old, yet have little value in the current market. They advised me of where to sell other books in the collection which had little value, were not rare and/or in need of repair. Really nice folks. As a society we must support our local economy by patronizing our independent book sellers. Covina... you have a treasure!

The staff at the pick-up desk provided excellent customer service for our purchase orders. One standout feature was the children's book reading section. An author was reading his book to children and their mothers, and it was a free event that took place every week at the bookstore. I was also impressed by the wide variety of gifts, stationery, and book accessories available for sale. The products had a unique personality and were reasonably priced. I bought a few items for an upcoming birthday gift for a dear friend. If you're in the Pasadena area and need to buy a gift, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine at their cafe, or of course, browse their extensive book selection, I highly recommend Vroman's.

Chances are we'd find titles from our booklist here if we hadn't already found them. The fiction section is expansive, having dedicated aisles for mystery, sci-fi and fantasy. Dedicated shelving for the Penguin Archives (different from Penguin Classics) series in addition to a carousel of classics under the New York Review Books (NYRB). Kudos for siting cashiers throughout the store, avoiding longer lines, and having a separate info desk with a kind staff member who was willing to turn over every stone in the database to help me track down my obscure requests. They weren't in Vroman's inventory. However our family still managed to make a Benjamin-sized dent in our discretionary spending. Bring your patience b/c the free parking lot behind the store is shared with Total Wine and the cinema. Drivers could be staying for a while with the enticing coffee shop and live events like a trio concert just outside Vroman's rear entrance. The next time we're in Pasadena and can't find gently loved copies of specific books at Book Alley, we're coming to Vroman's.

Scholastics was the leading authority when it came to giving children access to a cheap book. In the last year the moral has been low and I had to drop them. The woman that ran the warehouse I think her name was "Rachel" gave her very BEST for years! Clearly it showed that her heart was in the right place. That day came to a dead end when she "Quite!" The day she took off crying! That day was probably the saddest day ever for Scholastic's in Anaheim CA. Another woman behind the scenes as known as "Dorothy" gives nothing but her blood and soul to deliver only the best. I am compelled to talk about all these fine girls behind the scenes. That it is clear that not one is appreciated. Things have change for the worst in Anaheim CA warehouse. To the authorities of Scholastics Bookfair "You are doing a good job in destroying" this warehouse location. Basically you cut off the wings of your staff and blind folded their eyes. Now! If you can drive to the Anaheim warehouse to access books sales that is as fantastic as it realistically will get. Good luck!

The staff on the floor are engaging and genuinely helpful when you're searching for a particular find. That said, my experience selling books was disappointing. The process felt impersonal, and the seller/owner was not particularly engaging. One example: I brought in a brand-new book that originally cost $40 and was offered only a $1 store credit. I understand used bookstores have to make a profit, but the experience left me feeling like my books would have been better off in a friend's library. Great place to browse and buy, but I would lower expectations if you're planning to sell.

The books in the front are more with pop culture and famous books that maybe considered for the "coffee table" books. Also in the front , are the stationary items, cute Knick-knacks and some blind boxes. The Japanese light novels & manga section was larger vs the Arcadia location. Plus there was surplus amount of certain mangas that are currently popular to ensure enough is in stock. In general, I find these books very decently priced. I have , in the past, asked them for a particular book if they have in stock, they'll check to see if they have it or not or will direct me to where it is in the store.

I know it's great to support local stores, but I do wish they were a bit more competitive with pricing, if a book is only 10% more expensive here and I'm in the area, sure I'll buy it at Kinokuniya, but when the same exact book brand new is 40% cheaper on Amazon, I can't justify the purchase. It would be cool if membership allowed for price matching. Overall, this is probably the best Japanese book/manga shop you can find aside from the Book Off in Gardena.
