This place is absolute, hidden gem which I wish more people knew about. For starters the two people who own it are the absolute sweetest, kindest people I have met. Their custom service is excellent and their desire to help families navigate homeschooling is unmatched. You can tell when someone is doing something because they care, and that's what you'll find here--the love and care for your family and the future for children in general, just pours out of them. They do a lot of counseling for families that are new to homeschooling, as well as giving advice to families who have been homeschooling for decades. They've been through it and have the experience to help. If there was ever a place I wanted to recommend and get the word out about, this is it! They have both classes, which are great, and homeschooling books and supplies. You could spend hours and days just going through their shelves, and they're often restocked with new items. I would say I walk out with a handful of books ok a weekly basis. I always expect that I have thoroughly gone through all the shelves here and that there is nothing more to look through, and then I end up somehow leaving with another handful of books and supplies. They seem to get new stock of items coming in constantly. My favorite finds here are the used resources/workbooks. I have found so many workbooks that are listed as used but are unwritten inside. They range anywhere from 25 cents-$5, with the norm being around $2. I can't tell you how much money I've saved by coming here, and how much education my children have recieved from these books, that the otherwise wouldn't have. Please don't overlook the amazing deals and prices they have here! Not to mention that it makes such a difference being able to flip through workbooks and see what's inside, which you just can't do online. The list of what they have is never ending from math manipulatives, to board game style education materials, to Evan moor workbooks, to Bible based literature and curriculum, to beach ball blow-up globes, to "who was" books, to domino sets, to magic treehouse books, to science sets to a ton of Usborne books. Basically, if you can think of it, they have it. Lots of coloring books, anatomy workbooks, how to draw books, and hands on tools as well. They literally have it all, I could go on and on. It's not just books, they manipulatives and hands-on learning tools galore. For example, I spent over $100 on a math u see alpha set online from the math u see website, well they have the manipulatives box here at EIE for about $25. If only I had known back then! They also can use Charter funds to purchase items and order books in for you. They also have a free section in the front of the store with tons of books, videos, workbooks, etc. and it seems to get stocked with new items constantly. They also have really great classes. My daughter's taking an entrepreneurial class here, about owning a mock pizzeria, which she absolutely loves. We almost missed class last week, due to loosing my keys, and she was in tears at the thought of missing. Their classes are so awesome kids actually want to go to/do school work! If your child is missing the social aspect and friends from formal school these classes are a really awesome solution. All in all this place is amazing, the people are awesome, and I couldn't recommend it more. This is the place to go for all things homeschooling! They have an insane amount of books, curriculum, games puzzles and more! They also offer classes and fieldtrips. My daughter attends the science class taught by Mr. Marty and she loves it! I even learn a thing or two when I tune into the class. Both Carolyn and Marty can answer any questions you have regarding homeschooling and curriculum, they even know which charter schools are better than others. Floor to ceiling educational resources, endless support, advise, and encouragement....what more could I ask for? This small, but mighty center has all you need for students in independent study, charter school, homeschool, and enrichment programs. They offer a variety of classes on weekdays, a number of which my children have enjoyed. They've done robotics, acting, American Sign Language, hands-on science, entrepreneurship, and even woodshop! We love that they organize field trips, park days, and seasonal events that help foster community too. I LOVE Excellence in Education's learning style assessment because not every child learns the same way. I was overwhelmed by my already homeschooling friends, the internet, and my own doubts when I finally made the decision. Once another EIE mom directed me to their Park Day I immediately felt relief when speaking to the other parents and after attending a Homeschooling 101 seminar I KNEW I had landed in the right place. My family and I love EIE. If you are a home school parent, I strongly advise a visit to their bookstore. They offer an independent studies school program as well with monthly field trips. It is a large home school so it's up to the parents to unite and have events together. I give them a five star rating mostly because the leaders are very caring about you and your child and have your best interest in mind. They will go out of their way for you. I like that we can homeschool, but our children have teachers too. High school courses are great quality and challenging (as they should be). Well... I am new to homeschooling. I have a newborn and a 4 year old and I was looking for resources for home schoolers near me in Glendora. I have found quite a few and EIE seemed the most open, with no registration fees or membership requirements to join them on field trips or park days. This seemed ideal because we are a single income family and I don't want to jump into anything right away. I found a field trip that I thought would be great for us and contact them online for more information as instructed. I wasn't sure if I had met the deadline as it was the end of the day on the date that was specified to be the last day to register. Within the hour, I received an email from Elizabeth giving me instructions to either come in person or pay by phone. Trying to be courteous, I called to pay right away. I spoke with Elizabeth, gave my info and got a call back a little later. It was Elizabeth stating there was an issue with the payment and I checked my statement to confirm that on my end, it had gone through. She kindly said she would sign us up anyway and we would be in contact to confirm once it went thru. Fast forward to the day of the field trip... I woke at 6 am to my crying newborn with my stomach burning and soon after I started to nurse him I realized something was wrong, put him down and told dad to keep an eye on him. When I got to the bathroom I was puking my guts out (I feel like that's the best description) and that pretty much was the start and end of my day. Dad still had to work and I still had to care for my boys and the fieldtrip, in all honesty, slipped my mind. At 830 that night I get a call and voicemail from Elizabeth and when I return her call 10 minutes later she was very rude. When I said I was sick she gave me a short, curt "yea uh huh" muttered that people were waiting and I apologized and she said "uh huh" again and hung up as I was saying goodbye. Unprofessional and childish. I'm glad I didn't spend money with them and don't plan on it in the future. She in herself is a bad representation of the whole which is unfortunate. read more
