Amazing selection of books you normally wouldn't see in other book stores. Great vibe and the workers are so nice.

I got the chance to visit last weekend for the first time (although the bookstore has been open for 20 years) after hearing about it from a friend. I don't live in the Pomona area but regardless it was definitely worth the drive! It is a cozy space and they make sure to use all the space they have well. There are a lot of comfortable places to sit and it is nicely decorated (with a lot of art from local artists!) It isn't the biggest selection of books but you can tell the books they do have are meticulously curated to highlight a wide range of perspectives. There's also a lending library that I found really neat and I picked up a book that caught my eye. I also really liked how helpful and engaging the workers were. They were very open to answering my questions about the bookstore and pointing me in the right direction to find books where I could learn more about different Spanish cultures and Chicano literature. I also noticed online that they host monthly events such as open mic nights, book club meetings, bilingual storytime and arts and crafts, and spanish music listening parties. I will definitely keep my eye out for the next event that I can make it out to. A true community space. read more

It offers a wonderful selection of both recently published and classic works that challenge the Anglo-American canon, with its suffocating gaslighting and triumphalist narratives about the U.S. experience. The book buyer is a master curator. His fingers are on the pulse of literature from the chicana, feminist, indigenous, African-american, and more recent democratic socialist political movements in the United States. Books such as you find here assert alternative perspectives from the vainglorious "settler" history of the USA and the hegemonic (yet false) notions of market "freedoms". The alternative narratives throw into relief the charades of social and economic power of the U.S.'s oligarchies which create unequal conditions and which is setting the U.S. behind in technology and innovation thanks to the corrupt stranglehold of monopolies. The cultural panorama you find here speaks of the mix of cultures that make U.S. society a melting pot. Browse through the outstanding book collection! The children's books alone are a treasure for anyone seeking to instill in their children insights on injustice, power dynamics, and prejudice. I can't recommend this store more highly for its friendly, artistic, and thoughtful space. Step in here for what is the ultimate experience of a small, independent bookstore specializing in literature and representation from the entire Latino, African American, brown, experience of the USA. By the way, no coffee actually served...but this book store is partnering with local collectives seeking to revitalize growing and environmental stewardship in the town. A physical embodiment of what the most ideal community bookstore/library is, Cafe Con Libros doesn't have the widest selection of books either to buy or to borrow but what it does have are ESSENTIAL books to buy or borrow. In addition to having a well curated selection of books to purchase with topics that tend to be currently relevant, Cafe Con Libros also has an interior that exudes warmth and with Dias de los Muertos stylings. The library is in the back and also seems to go by an honor system of lending out books. In short, Cafe Con Libros is a bookstore that definitely is built to serve its community and provide its guests a sense of wonderment at the same time...definitely worth a visit if you're in the area! read more

A true community gem. We stumbled across Cafe Con Libros after going to an art gallery and immediately fell in love. They were having an open mic night and I could tell that this bookstore is a true space for community to so many people. Each employee was hospitable and took the time to engage us. I also appreciated that the books represented a wide range of cultures and topics, including the children's books. While I live too far away to come here regularly, I'll always hold fond memories of this awesome bookstore. read more

Very cute bookstore. Im so glad I finally got to visit it. I love how the moment you walk in, it feels magical. They have an awesome collection of books from writers of various cultural backgrounds. Very cool experience! And the books are affordable so that was very nice. I love how they have a lending library. The customer service was the best part as they recommend books and authors based on your taste. This is my new favorite bookstore. This place is more than a bookstore as it brings book enthusiasts, children and the rest of the community together with their events. read more

Super friendly staff member who even read to our girls and did arts and crafts with them. The only reason why I did not rate this place 5 stars is because we were told the used kids books in the back were based off donation. My husband and I were told we could pay what we chose to, yet when it came to check out we were charged $2 per book. I know times are tough for all of us right now and although we came here to support small businesses like this one, but I felt guilt tripped into buying the books at the end. read more

My favorite place in Pomona. Family friendly and kid friendly. Something for every age. Books!!! Lending library in the back where you can check a book out or take a book/leave a book. There are many events including poetry open mics/readings at least two times a month (I co-host one on third Fridays that sometimes gets noise from the next door business but we do our best). Since the moment I walked into the door they were welcoming to me and my family and you can see are truly community centered. Come check it out and support! read more

the owners are super sweet here My boyfriends band played at the place next door to them and they came out, I thought they were gonna tell us to move, they actually gave everyone free hot chocolate and welcomed everyone in to see inside. Got an awesome frida shirt and Loteria game! read more

4/5 super cute! so it's a store with a library in the back! i was just passing through and noticed the signage and decided to wander in, and was so pleasantly surprised. the woman working the front was super friendly, and it's the kind of bookstore where it's a good mix of curated new releases, culturally-relevant items (including non-books), and then there's even this whole "library" section in the back of all kind of used items. i didn't need a book so i didn't get anything the time i stopped by, but i did pick up a fun magnet from their featured artist (periodic rotation). read more
