This was my first time visiting the new location. I absolutely love the spacious patio and outside bar. We were greeted as we walked in by the host that was friendly and courteous. He allowed us to choose our preference for seating. We waited a bit for someone to come to take our order and finally asked if the host could send over a server. A young man approached and we asked if he was our server. He responded "no I was sent over to take your drink order". The entire exchange was a little uncomfortable, but we brushed it off. Another table was seated next to us and a very bubbly server came out, greeted them, and quickly took their order. A few moments later, our server Mia arrived, apologized for the delay and proceeded to the provide excellent customer service for the duration of our visit. She was polite, courteous, efficient, and a very sweet young lady. She more than made up for the rocky start to our visit. I ordered the "what she's having" and it was as delicious as I remembered. Light and refreshing. I chose the pulled pork sliders with the honey mustard slaw, and added a side of barbecue sauce. I opted for the sautéed green beans instead of fries or chips because they are always delicious and full of fresh garlic and just the right amount of sea salt and fresh pepper. They mentioned they had a live band that night and I made a note to come back another time to enjoy some great music on the patio. Overall, a great place with good food. read more

First time here at 1130AM or so to beat the crowd and try it out. Nestled right by Katy Mills mall and was very impressed. So many things to write but come in and enjoy if passing by or leaving wife and kids at mall. Just say you are going to the bathroom and got lost while they shop. Sophie was very professional and automatically made me feel at home like we knew each other for years. I ordered the little hack sliders. Let me say great job. Tasted like a big mac with a mini burger that was not dry and was incredible. The bun was semi sweet and worked well with everything. Tony is the owner and another manager was there who also jumped in with making me feel at home. Very attentive to all clients and super friendly. Food was spot on. The tator tots were great as well, not too big but perfect size. One thing, maybe fry them for 29-30 seconds less as some were stuck together and were very lightly overcooked. Also, no big deal but had to ask for salt and pepper...maybe I got here to early, not sure but no biggy. They have incredible specials throughout the week and a very inviting comfortable place for business meetings, by yourself, family and friends as well as large groups. There's 1 who is the worst (old in the face, short stringy bob) I don't know her name but I faithfully came here for 2 months and she ruined the experience enough times for me to stop. I waited a month or 2 and tried to come back .. maybe I was rolling off of my previous bad experience but the service started off terrible once again. I had to track down the nice guy I met when the mean bartender lady wouldn't serve me to get the new bartenders attention. She seemed to notice everyone else fairly quickly. The new location is much larger. We went there for a comedy night on a Saturday night. They have different types of free entertainment on Saturday nights. Check their Facebook to see the schedule. They have a pretty good selection of food and burgers. Definitely much better than bar food but nothing noteworthy. But it is nice not to have to eat before you get there. The servers were fast and friendly. I am looking forward to going back for their dueling pianos night. The music is just a little loud to have a conversation at your table. read more

The food and the staff are amazing. I had their steak one night and it was delicious. The place is way more spacious than the other location. It also had outside seating but it was as too cold. Anyways the beers were cold and my whiskey drinks were good to go! Friendly bartenders and they pour outstanding drinks! It's one of my go to spots in the Katy area. read more

Came here on Saturday afternoon for lunch with the family. It was DEAD. Should have clued us in... service was super slow, we actually had to ask the waitress to come take our order. Food quality varied: wings and tacos were fine, the steak and potatoes salad was basically inedible. Steak tasted old/bad, potatoes weren't cooked all the way thru, and the greens were slimy. I'm not sure if it's under new management since moving from its previous location, but it used to be good. But after that experience, I will not go back. read more

Let me start by saying Scholars and Scoundrels is a must do for good food and some drinks. The service was impeccable. Our waiter Matt, did the best job at making sure we were seated quickly and that our table was always tended to. Matt even brought over little games and coloring books for my child which he informed he bought himself for the customers. That to me is amazing! The food was awesome and the beers were cold. The queso and salsa is a must try and my lady loved the birria tacos! The setting is more like a bar and grill which gives the feel of a very relaxed family outing. We LOVED the old s&s! This place killed off the best things about it: - service isn't just bad, it's completely nonexistent. If they aren't bringing food or a check, don't expect them to be visible AT ALL. And abrupt at best. - The volume is INSANE. - Bait & switch on steak night is a real thing. Website gives one set of prices, menu another. When brought to the servers attention, she shrugged. - Cocktails were always AMAZING at the old location, these were just awful watered down, flavorless drinks. The burger and fries were still good. The steaks were cold, fat, not rendered, heavily charred, and served cold. When I told the server that my plate was cold, my steak was cold, and even my potatoes were cold, she sort of laughed. When it came back from the kitchen, it was slammed on the table in front of me and nothing was fixed. The garlic butter was flavorless as were the steaks. The sides were laughable. We paid $10 for a brussels sprout and pork belly appetizer. There were less than eight brussels sprouts in the entire order, it looked like a soup, and the pork belly was so hammered itwas inedible. We're hungry here. Please, for the love of all things holy Do Not order the garlic butter potatoes gratin. I have no words to explain how awful that dish was. I am highly disappointed, and we will not be returning again. All of the things that Made this restaurant such a hit with us in the past simply don't exist anymore. Horrible service. Horrible food. This was a 3rd try for us which is more than I usually do. The first two the heavy greasy food always sat funny. I was a sucker for what was supposed to be an event for Star Wars day. I looked everywhere for the brunch menu online to look ahead of a picture on Facebook and could not find it. We arrived at it was fairly empty. They were playing Star Wars music, I never saw a DJ. There were some tattoos on the table - and as we were finally leaving someone started a trivia game. But it was quiet otherwise with any signs of Star Wars fun. Drink was good. Looking over the brunch menu there were two avocado toasts. One listed chicken and the other one did not. First - who puts chicken and eggs in the same dish? I ordered the one that did not list chicken and asked if it had bacon and paid extra for bacon on the side. Then it came out with chicken. The staff did not seem very familiar with the menu. Bread was just regular wheat sandwich loaf bread and nothing special. The bacon made it taste much better. There are no sides that come with it either. It was our anniversary brunch and I should have gone with something I knew would be good instead of what sounded like a fun May the Fourth be with you event. read more

Went here on 12/12/2025 with a party of 6. 4 adults and 2 children. Not crowded at all, only 2 other tables with customers and a couple people at the bar. Service was terrible and the food was even worse. Just about inedible. They had the manager in the back cooking and the waiter said he was trying to train them. None of us ate much of anything, it was disgusting. Took about an hour to get the food and they were basic orders. Burgers, wedge salad. I've never complained at a restaurant or have written a review but wanted to make sure people avoid this place. read more

We came to scoundrels for steak night for $17.99 (it says all day). I even told my friends and that's why they came. I checked the website the day of. I get there with my team. They show us the steak night menu which was different than on the website. They told us we couldn't have steak until after 5 even though the current menu they gave us said 11-9:30. We were told they would honor the $17.99 and that we could order the steaks before 5. The food was okay and our server was nice. When it came to get the check. The price was not $17.99. It was $10 more. We asked to talk to the manager and the person that said he was the owner, told us he would not honor the $17.99 because he gave us the menu. We told him that the lady that works here told us she was told they would honor it. The owner would not budge and was quite rude. I've gone to scholars and scoundrels several times and never had a bad experience. I unfortunately will never come back. read more

Went on a Sunday. Was by myself and sat at the bar. I was the only non regular and felt like I was treated as such. I probably stayed when I shouldn't have. Never was offered a food menu, but instead asked for after sitting there for what felt like a very long time. Food was decent but I don't feel like $9 for two slices of French toast was probably worth it. I used to love this place when it was in its old location. Maybe it was an off day.....but it's definitely going to be a while before I want to give it another shot. read more

I guess I am not surprised by the three star rating this place has. I went for steak night recently and ordered the ribeye steak. Basically the steak had no fat marbled into it so my assumption is it was not a ribeye. It was a sirloin I guess they think their customers are just stupid enough not to know. With my mistake, I ordered a Caesar salad. Turns out it was field greens with Caesar dressing on it so, that is a fail. The atmosphere was fun because they had a DJ doing some events that night, but it was not crazy busy and the service was slow overall . Perhaps the guy was new or something we ended up tapping out early because he said we were his last table. I would have tipped him way more money and he just stuck with it. Don't go here to watch sports. Even though they have a ton of tvs they refuse to turn the loud music down to watch any games. It was so sad to see a bunch of tables streaming the game on their phones just to listen to Thursday night football game because the owner refused to turn music off. We visited early Friday evening. The restaurant wasn't busy. It took a long time for our waiter to take our drink order. It took even longer for him to take our food order. And it took even longer to get food. Or at least we thought we were going to get food. A waitress (not ours) walked by and asked how we were doing. We told her we were waiting on our food. We had been waiting at least 20 minutes. About 15 minutes later, our waiter came out and asked us if we gave him our order, because it wasn't in the system. We waited for over 30 minutes just to find out he forgot to put it in the system. He didn't even apologize. I feel like my one star rating was quite generous. read more

The old location has always been our go to place after high school football games. First time in the new location. The food was still great. Had the Declaration Burger with tater tots. Our server (unfortunately did not get his name) was awesome. However, we probably won't be back due to the noise level. When we walked in we could tell the DJ was way too loud so opted to sit outside. Not much better. The music out there was also loud and we couldn't even hold a conversation. Plus it was one rap song after another and not everyone likes that kid of music. They need to turn down the volume or will run a lot of customers off. read more
