For the price, nearly everything is included except food, making it an excellent value. Our group of four booked approximately six months in advance. I highly recommend reviewing their website beforehand, as it answers most common questions and provides a clear understanding of what to expect. About a week before our hunt, Sarah reached out to confirm our arrival and finalize details. Hunters can check into the lodge by noon the day before their scheduled hunt. Due to scheduling constraints within our group, the guides arranged for us to head out the same day we arrived at 2 PM. Upon arrival, Sarah was there waiting for us, handled check-in efficiently, completed paperwork, and provided our lodge key. The hunting lodge itself is a nostalgic home built in 1936 on roughly half an acre. You can feel the history the moment you walk in, reinforced by decades of photos displayed throughout the house. The lodge includes everything needed for a comfortable stay: a full kitchen stocked with cookware, plates, silverware, and essentials; a dining room; living room; four bedrooms; and 1 1/2 bathrooms. The bedrooms comfortably accommodate up to eight hunters. Outside, there's a fire pit, horseshoe pit, and seating area to unwind after a day in the field. Off to the side of the property sits an old-school saloon, butcher area, and walk-in meat locker, all adding to the unique experience. Now for the best part: our guides, Luke and his son Josh. From the start, both were friendly, professional, and welcoming. The ranch we hunted was about 25 minutes from the lodge. I was paired with Luke in his UTV, and his experience was immediately obvious. Having guided with Schmidt for 32 years, his skill and knowledge are impressive. His ability to spot hogs without binoculars or spotting equipment was unbelievable. We encountered our first group of hogs around 4 PM, and two members of our party successfully harvested by 4:20 PM. Luke quickly field dressed the hogs, and we were back hunting in no time. Later that day, Luke located another group, allowing our third hunter to harvest before the end of day one. The following morning, Luke and Josh were ready to go by 5 AM sharp. Not long into the hunt, Luke spotted a sizable boar, and our fourth hunter successfully harvested him just after 8 AM. After returning to the lodge, Luke and Josh immediately got to work skinning and preparing the hogs for processing. Their efficiency and expertise were impressive. By 11 AM, everything was packed on ice and our group was ready to head home. Our experience with Schmidt Guide Service was outstanding from start to finish. Just finished our hunt yesterday with Luke, Rocky, Rocky Jr., and met Nessen. These guys know their business and are great guys to boot. They're funny ands we had an outstanding time with their jokes and ribbing. When it was time to harvest our hogs they were all about getting us outstanding hogs. We had 3 hunters and harvested 4 pigs in a couple of hours and had fun the entire hunt. Luke was my son and my guide and he not only spotted great hogs for us, but got us in position for easy shots. Get ready for a hunting trip like no other. These pigs are fast and tough, and they know how to disappear in surprisingly little cover. These guides (Luke and Rocky) held nothing back as they cruised through the mountainous ranches on their side-by-sides. Not many pigs escape their eyes as we fly up and down the mountain roads. Once they see the pigs, they hunker down and you're in for a ride. They'll get you as close as they can or spot them across the ravine. You could get shots as close as 40 feet or as far as 500 yards. Each opportunity is different, but it will get your adrenaline up and, odds are, you'll be back again. This was my second trip. Some of the most fun I've ever had twice now. read more

Definitely one of THE BEST outfitters I've been to thus far! Setting this up with Sarah was easy and the price is extremely fair relative to other places. The hunting house was VERY nice...an old place, but very clean and comfortable; everything you need is there and for a great rate. The guides, Luke and Mark (my brothers from another mother) were really good guys with great experience and know what they're doing. They worked very hard to get us on pigs and made sure we had a fun/safe time on our hunt. The property is amazing with tons of pigs; 3 of us all punched tags within 1 hour during our first morning out!! Mr. Schmidt was a very gracious host and very cool guy. Took my 25 year old daughter who had only shot pheasant in the past. I had never hunted pig. Although we had been told to a expect high energy exciting time, this exceeded my expectations. Nessen Schmidt Guide Service provided an excellent hunt this past weekend. Thanks to Nesson Jr., Luke & Josh for the experience. This was my 1st time on a pig hunt, and I had no idea what to expect. I am always "iffy" being a woman going into a new Hunt environment, but these boys made it easy. I was a bit nervous at first since it happened so fast, but thankfully Luke provided information, explanations and a bit of an education on Hogs, and the local ranches, wildlife, and history of the area. We finished up the hunt early (5:30am with two gorgeous Pigs!) and were taken around the ranch that we hunted, and wow what a Ranch (53,000 acres). Rolling hills, graded roads and on top of it all we were treated to view a 22" buck as we were headed back. I am now back to reality at work in the office and I just keep asking myself why am I here when I want to be there! Well I suppose I will have to schedule another hunt soon! FYI we are planning on running our dogs for quail in October. Side note: Nesson Jr. and Luke quartered the pigs for easy transportation to a butcher closer to our home. They have a butcher (Lino) on site if need be for professional cuts and packaging. Young Josh (Luke's son 9 y/o) found a shedded antler and gave it to me which just made a perfect end to the trip . My father came here 12 or 13 years ago and decided to take me hunting. For my first hunting trip, this was definitely very memorable. Everyone here was super nice and friendly. For the hunt we had Rocky as our guide. He is very knowledgeable and lead my father and me to a few pigs. As a beginner, he helped me a lot. After I shot my pig he let his dogs out to go chase a pig which my father shot. When we were heading back he let his dogs, which were trained very well, go chase a boar. We came back and they quartered the boar in about a hour. We stayed in the red hunting house, which was very nice. I would recommend this place to any hunters. read more
