Let me start by saying that this was my personal experience hunting with this guide service.
I called them up to book a hunt. I spoke to Jeremy ( who was very nice and polite every time we spoke) Jeremy informed me that they charged $650 for a fully guided rifle hunt that would last two days or shorter depending if you got a hog sooner of course . He also told me that there was a two hunter minimum. At the time I did not have any of my normal hunting buddy's that could make it so we agreed that he would have me arrive Saturday afternoon( between 2 and 3pm), I could hunt then and also Sunday. I'd then leave Sunday night. Fair enough I said.
When I got there Saturday afternoon I showed up to a empty camp. Around 3:30pm my guide( Frank), his wife and his little brother, JD showed up. ( all 3 very nice once again)
They showed me to my place I would be spending the night and I unpacked my stuff.( perfect accommodation for a hunter, no complaints there)
4pm we jumped into the jeep and we were off for the evening hunt. We drove about a hundred yards up a little dirt road. Stopped the jeep and started walking.(Frank said that we would hike a loop around and back to camp) No problem because I'm into walk and stalk hunting. Frank then says: "There was a nice reddish hog this morning they saw"
We walked for about 10min and started glassing a area that looked to be about 3.5 acres big.( 3.5 acres surrounded by fence) Keep in mind....at this point I can still see my car parked at the hunting camp and also a couple ranch houses. They were really really close. I could also see....right on the other side of the fenced off 3.5 acres...a holding pen with a bunch of pigs. Big ones and small ones.
So we keep walking for another 5min still glassing inside of this fenced off area. And yes folks, guess who shows up?
The reddish hog that Frank mentioned at the start of the hunt, 45 min ago. We then made our way closer to the hog. I looked at it through my binoculars and thought. " please run away because I would love to hunt in a different area tomorrow" maybe at least a half mile away from camp even.....
Got closer to the "pig" and Frank indicated to shoot it. (I could not just say no, he is the "guide" after all)The "pig" was about 30yards away, looking dead at us. It did not run...walk...just stood there sniffing around. Reluctantly I put my sight on it and pulled the trigger. There was no excitement for me. Frank and his little brother was excited for me but even I could see that they have done that act a few times.
We drug the pig to the fence( I shot it right next to the fence). Lifted it over the fence and put it next to the road. At this point. We we're right next to the pen with all the pigs. I walked over after Frank walked down the road to the ranch house(400yards or so away) to get a truck. The pigs in the pen were super tame....they looked exactly like the reddish pig I had just shot. Frank's little brother JD was with me. He said this is where they breed "hogs". ???
Guys, I'm not a guy to write long stretched out reviews. But we all love to hunt and for this kind of price you would expect a real hunt. I wrote this to warn others that are considering hunting with this outfit.
My "hunt" (I feel bad calling it that)lasted about a hour and 15min. I was surrounded by ranch houses the whole time. I honestly would have preferred hunting BLM land.
