The only thing I wish this lake/campground had were actual bathrooms and some shade. I've read that it was manmade but you would think they would consider building actual restrooms and/or shade even fake trees for shade. Otherwise, the lake was a gorgeous spot and the area was clean. I would definitely come back with other families but be more prepared with shade or head when the weather is slightly cooler lol. Highly recommend when you're in the area!

I made the mistake of brushing my teeth with the water spicket one year so don't do that unless you want to get sick my stupidity. If you like fishing make sure you have a fishing license we went down to the lime one year with a kids like two year old fishing pole and a child hook and some lame person said we had a fish net and called the rangers on us and they all came looking for a net looked in my backpack in my truck in our ice chest in the back of my truck acting like we had done something wrong it was a huge embarrassing moment for them because they came In hot like I was a criminal with my wife and to young kids and the only thing was a trash bag that I collected trash people left around apparently they had a video of this so called net and the ranger told me after looking a this video that they must have mistaken a net for a trash bag. It's was super lame like I understand they have a job todo but the way it was handled in the beginning was not professional with kids around. Other then that I've always have had a great time in the heat we even went when the lake was dried up on the Harris creek side and camping one year and it rained we still had a great time. Yes it's not super party like as year in the past and that's ok you want that behavior drive up the road to the next lake. I wish they still had the little store but that closed up sadly. They need more people camping to get that open again.

Within an hour, all four of us had our pigs. Once the pigs were gutted and stripped, we went over for dinner with Jeremy and his family. Fantastic food for all, cooked by Jeremy and his family. Then into the bar for drinks and pool. A fantastic experience with everybody. The cabin was clean and well kept, everything you needed. Jim took us to ponchos ranch Saturday morning and we got to see some fantastic views and wildlife. I strongly suggest you try this place. Great people, great food and Fantastic hunting. I took my first shot ever through a small break of brush up hill at 245 yards when a herd of running boar were passing on the trail and dropped it in the spot. We raced up and found my quarry and I quickly dispatched him. Clay took care of the meat in his refrigerator and had it ready for me to deliver to my butcher the next morning!!! Clay showed us great spot to set camp under a line of White oaks and had time to set up in my trailer and being able to shoot at range and do a final sight in from camp is fantastic! can't wait to go again and maybe get the turkey hog combo. On our way in, we passed Chalone Vineyard (random!), which was closed, but looks like a fun place for wine tasting after a day of hiking. We entered the park's West entrance and be warned that the drive up there frequently merges the 2 lane road into one lane. Luckily there weren't very many cars coming and going so we didn't have any problems. We arrived to the visitors center and did the wheelchair accessible hike on Prewett Point Trail. It's not super long but gave us a good view of the pinnacles. We then made our way to the end of the road to try the North Wilderness Trail. My wheelchair bound son only made it so far until the little bridge by the big rocks, so he turned around, while my middle son and I continued on to explore more of the trail and to look for caves. Would love to see the park from the east entrance next time for a different perspective of the park!

On the RV side they have two bathrooms and a shower, and it's a short walk to the ocean where a natural stream creates a lagoon on the sand before pouring out into the ocean. I love camping here. It's been years and coming back recently was as magical as always…read more I've only camped in the ocean sites due to having a VW camper van. The other sites are tent camping only. I must say, the ocean sites are very snug and limited in space. If you're looking for a spacious camping site with privacy, you're not going to get here. And not all of the sites are the same size so if you have a trailer and a truck, you're gonna have to really be choosy at which is a site to book. This is right underneath the underpass so you're going to hear road noise. But to be honest, a lot of the sound was drowned out by the nearby stream and the ocean. It was walking distance to what felt like a private beach. Since the last time I've been here it looks like they made a mini dam with the running stream creating a mini swimming cove with crystal clear water. There are no electrical hook ups but the bathroom has running water and hot showers available. The bathrooms can get freaking disgusting from the day use visitors, but they do clean it every morning. And let's not forget the beautiful drive to get here. Magical.

one of the many, many wonderful trails at pinnacles nat'l park. from the apex, you can see almost…read morethe entire park on a clear day, the beautiful balconies, ridges, forestry and wildlife that belongs to pinnacles. you can access this trail from: +west side: chaparral trailhead parking lot, 1.8mi hike to western trailhead of high peaks +east side: old pinnacles trailhead, 1.3mi hike to eastern trailhead of high peaks +east/south side: bear gulch parking lot, 0.5mi to southern trailhead of high peaks we chose to start from the east side, hike the old pinnacles trail to balconies, break at the chaparral trailhead for lunch, then return east via the high peaks trail. this was a TOUGH climb up, especially since it was only a little after noon, the sun was strong, and we'd already hiked 4+ miles from the east. many breaks were taken, call it "photo pace" hiking, and after some time, we finally reached the western side of the high peaks trail...more climbing awaited us, as did awesome views of this treasured park. there were many switchbacks, each turn offering a different view, so of course, i had to pause each time to snap a pic! there are no restrooms, water fountains, or other amenities here. due to the time of day we were here, there also wasn't much shade. definitely bring plenty of water, wear a hat, sunscreen, and light clothing if coming here during summer/autumn months.

We had originally planned on renting a boat on our own for the day, but having no experience driving a boat and little knowledge of wakeboarding, I thought that our chances for success were pretty slim. After finding the Oak Paradise Wakeboarding website, I knew leaving the driving and teaching to an expert was the way to go. It's definitely something we'll do again.

First time visited Pinnacles National Park. We didn't have too much time to spend, but we chose to…read morevisit the East side of the park to do the Bear Gulch Cave Trail. This was really the only trail we wanted to do during our visit, and it is 100% worth it. A lot of the trails in the area interconnect, so it's easier to add on if you're doing another hike in the area. We parked in the lot by the Moses Spring Trail and started that trail until it branched off to the Bear Gulch Cave Trail. The hiking portion itself was easy - incline wasn't that bad and the entire hike itself was only about 2 miles. Once you enter the caves, though, is where the fun (and the bit of difficulty) comes in. It's not a strenuous hike, but it does require squeezing and maneuvering through tight spaces, walking through water, and moving through the dark. If you're claustrophobic, this is probably not going to be the hike for you. All that aside, though, it was such a fun hike, and I found myself enjoying it much more than I anticipated. It was super cool to explore the caves, and once you're in the tighter areas, the hike is clearly labeled with spray painted white arrows. It is pitch black in some areas, so definitely bring a flashlight. You could probably squeak by with your cell phone light, but a small flashlight was ideal. Some areas of the water were also ankle deep, so wear appropriate footwear. After the caves, you'll pop out at Bear Gulch Reservoir. And let me tell you - pictures do not do it justice. It is so incredibly beautiful and peaceful. We spent much more time than we had planned just sitting on a rock and taking it all in. Highly recommend this hike when visiting the east side of Pinnacles National Park.

We very much enjoyed our 2mile ish hike through the cave, circling around the reservoir to come…read moreback down. We started on a weekday at around 830am and were able to park in the closest parking lot to the trailhead where there's a nice restroom. There is also more parking around, it just requires a bit further of a walk. The trail stays with a slight incline through some woods with tons of birds around. You eventually level out and start to enter the cave. You definitely need a headlamp or flashlight for the very dark parts. We went when it was very dry, so no worries about slipping for us. You do have to squeeze through some tight bits, but nothing too treacherous. After the cave, you pop out to the beautiful reservoir at the top. We did the loop and headed back down on a very sunny and scenic part of the trail. Watch for squirrels, chipmunks and birds along the trail, as there are many beautiful species around to enjoy. I suggest bringing binoculars and take pics along the way!
