The couple that owns/runs this one are friendly and helpful. My sandwich was fresh and toasty and prepared as requested. Not sure why they had a line of chairs in front of the register. Food & Drink: I love their 'The original' and normally get the medium size as the large is more like a 2-person serving. I love that they toast the bread and the meat too. My kids & I frequent this location a lot. The owner is so polite - such a breath of fresh air. The food is always fresh, the veggies crisp and bright, and the display is divine. One can't complain! Plus - the Cinnabons are always made fresh and never sitting out long. You may see one or two, but if you're dining in, they will gladly make a fresh batch for you to devour! Stopped in today for some cinnamon rolls. When I got to the counter, I saw around 8 full-sized cinnamon rolls and two smaller ones. I ordered two of them with extra icing, to-go. The staff member asked if I would like them warm, I said yes. He was very friendly and polite. When I got in the car, we immediately opened the cinnamon rolls so my child could take a bite. He didn't like it. I took a bite - the cinnamon rolls were tough. They were hard to chew and tasted like they had been sitting for a while. my husband and I have gone here since it opened. the new owners are not so customer friendly. 3 weeks ago we waited in line for 25 minutes while the owner tried to force a customer to accept a burnt pizza instead of just making them a new one. we finally left cause they were still arguing over it. we tried again last night. MY husband looked at the receipt and saw they charged us for 3 sandwiches not two. it took the owner the whole time we were eating to fix it, we thought. Actually ha had not credited our charge card as we thought but ran after us with cash. it was only the owners there and they do not speak English very well. My wife and I pass two other Schlotzsky's in order to get to this particular location because the food is ALWAYS fresh and hot, and the couple that run the place are super nice people. I can't say the same thing for the other restaurants that we avoid to get here. I guess franchising comes with its own set of problems, but the Schlotzsky's on Kuykendahl is one of our favorite eateries. Schlotzsky's sandwiches are unique--it's really difficult to compare to any other sandwich place, and they have other things on the menu too, so once in awhile you just have to have a Schlotzsky's. I had not tried this location yet, so I went to check it out. Right at the start I saw a good example of customer service. A woman was ordering for two people while having a continuous phone conversation. She would ask for a sandwich, then eliminate the ingredients she didn't want one by one, around the conversation. The man (the owner I think) was patient throughout the ordeal, and the woman left with a correct order and a smile. Good on him. Schlotzsky's has added mac and cheese ("Macs") since I was there last. I tried out a Pick Two of the Smoky Brisketeer mac and a Beef Bacon Smokecheesy half sandwich, with a drink and a mini Cinnabon for dessert. I'm not usually a big mac 'n' cheese fan, but I was glad I tried the Smoky Brisketeer. Mac 'n' cheese topped with brisket, bbq sauce, jalapenos, and red peppers, so it's pretty strong. The brisket is finely shredded so it eats well, and the flavors were good. Others who know mac 'n' cheese better would have to judge that part. The Beef Bacon Smokecheesy was excellent. The toasted sourdough bun was perfect (and the plate came with a little sourdough crostini that was quite nice). The cheese was indeed smoky and went well with the bacon and beef. The sandwich ate well too, didn't pull apart in strings as beef and bacon sometimes do. The Cinnabon was a disappointment. Tasted like it was several days old. Another reviewer has said the same, so I would avoid them. The bathroom was clean and ready when I was there. A downside, and this is at the franchise level--the doors are labeled "shapely bunz" (women) and "manly bunz" (men, as you might guess). Really? It's the twenty-first century, try to keep up. Overall it was just fine. Their menu has great variety, including pizza we've had before that was quite good. I'll probably be back, just not for those Cinnabons. read more

I've been to many Schlotzsky's Deli restaurants in Houston and must say that this one is the best one! First of all, inside of the restaurant is very clean and well-decorated. I was sitting by the booth with my boyfriend and we both noticed how nice the paintings on the wall were. It made me feel like I was at an up-scale restaurant with my date. :) Secondly, the staffs and the owners were very friendly and nice. They welcomed us to their restaurant and after we ordered our food, they even asked us if everything was good and if we needed anything else. Although Schlotzsky's is not a restaurant with a waiter service, we felt like we were at one with nice service. Extra point! Lastly, I ordered #1 original meal and a white chocolate cookie. And oh man, the food was warm and fresh as well as delicious!! The cookie?it was soft and yummy! Overall, I would recommend this Schlotzsky's to everyone who is in the area. I was trying to place an order online with this store located on Kuykendahl in Spring, TX. When I signed into my account, there was an offer located on my order page stating "buy one get one 1/2 off after 4pm". It has a button on the right hand side that states "apply" meaning apply to this order. I did so. I placed an order for the large original and then placed an order for a 2nd large original along with a soup. My expectation since I was placing this order at 6:30pm, that the "buy one get one 1/2 off after 4pm" would be applied. IT WAS NOT. I then contacted the store directly. I spoke to an older Asian woman at the store that I've met many times in the store. When I spoke to her she stated that there was nothing she could do about this... I asked to speak to a manager or team leader. She stated that she was no more than an "employee" and that there was no one in a leadership role available. I asked her to contact the manager and have him contact me back. She stated that he didn't speak English. I knew that wasn't true since I've been in the store many times and met the manager....Hong Kim. He called speaking perfect English. He stated that this was a corporate problem and that he could not do anything and that I would have to pay "full price" and there was nothing he could do. He stated that I would need to contact Focus Brands (franchise distributor) the following day. This is not customer service. This manager could have easily thought outside of the BOX. All he had to do was state after he confirmed the special was listed on my offerings was that he would offer "a buy one get one free offer". He had stated that he had no ability on his "old register" to offer the 1/2 off special without a "coupon code'. Tht is not the customer fault. That is a fault of the local store and the corporation. Again, the manager, Hong Kim, could have made this so simple. Just simply out of customer service offer this customer a "buy one get one free". Keep in mind that I have been in this store 100 times in the past year. I WILL NEVER SHOP THIS STORE AGAIN OR ANY SCHLOTSKY'S ALL BECAUSE OF THIS ONE PROBLEM. I've had no apologies or compensation offered. I called a representative named Patrick at Focus Brands and he hung up on me. What happened to customer service at this company? I would ask others to BOYCOTT this store. This is not acceptable customer service. Changes need to be made to their customer service ability. I blame primarily Hong Kim, the manager. He could have made this so easy....he made it difficult. I blame the older Asian woman who lied about her position stating, "I am stupid" and I can't help you. This is ridiculous. This is someone just trying to avoid doing anything. She is the "team leader" but she doesn't know that I know this already. I also believe that she is the wife of the manager. They give you one of those stands with a number on it and actually bring the order out to you. Nice touch. They make the sandwiches quickly, bring them to your table and are efficient in cleaning tables so that new customers have a place to sit. I ordered online and when I arrived at the store, specifically asked if the sandwich was made as requested since I've had issues in the past. The manager herself assured me it was correct, and proceeded to read off my entire order. I actually thought to myself "wow, it's going to be right this time!"
