Food was good but it was really hot in the restaurant. Also, no baby changing stations. Really!?

We have been trying to find new spots for lunch when in Joplin and found one for sure that we will…read morereturn to. Union Station Deli is a great place for lunch. It is NOT fast food but everyone knows you rarely get good food fast. It has a bit of a 40s vibe with big band music as background. I didn't get our waiter's name but the ticket said Music Man. He is friendly, attentive and stayed busy. I had the Big BLT and onion rings. 4 slices of bacon with garlic mayo on toasted, thick sliced white bread. Plenty to eat and fresh. Excellent sandwich. The onion rings were almost as good as Chicken Annie's. Deb had the Big Dipper and broccoli cheese soup. They both looked delicious and since she didn't have a leftover to take home, I would guess it tasted as good as it looked. I didn't think they were overly busy for 11:30 so help them out and go try it.

The place is cute as a button inside! We were super excited to try this spot out. When looking over…read morethe tasty menu, they have some great names for their sandwiches which is really funny! However, what is not so funny, is that all their sandwiches are one high price of 15.75 which also included things like grilled cheese and fried bologna which is just crazy to me. Now, I got the French Dipper and it was good. However, it was not bursting with flavor so it was a bit disappointing IMO. The onion rings were hand cut, but did not save the day either, luke warm and just alright tasted. Nothing to write home about :(. They did take very good care of us with a tandem wait staff and that was fantastic!!

Today we bought lunch for three and my son got Mac and cheese with his sandwich and I had the chili with mine. My wife got a salad and it seems she had the best thing. Our sandwiches were tasty, but mostly bread. I mean a lot of bread and very little inside. My sandwich was $10 bucks and for that in a rural midwest town I would expect much better. if I had gone to Subway, Firehouse Subs or Jimmy Johns I would have a longer sandwich and easily three times the stuff inside. My son made a point fo complaining about it too. Good tasting sandwich and bread, only far too much bread and next to nothing inside. Over the last year, we have tried them several times from carbide pickup to eating outside or eating inside. The service is consistent and prompt and I have no issues regarding that. However, each time we have ordered several things are unavailable, popular yet ordinary items that any smart manager would have planned better and kept regular staple items in stock. For example they promote an extensive baked potato menu and it all sounds great but twice we came in and they had run out of potatoes! I mean if you were getting low run down to the store and buy a bag, how hard is that. You should never run out of basic menu items unless you have poor management.

I ordered on Door Dash. They didn't send the au jus for the French Dip. When I called they said…read morewhen I come in they will give me a discount. We are just passing thru Joplin. Will not order from here again

Instead of listening and getting all sides of the story or giving a written warning of any sorts they were both fired for voicing their concerns. Apparently they like to take sides instead of doing any investigation or listening to their staff. Corporate will be hearing about this along with any legal repercussions that can be taken. Firing two people based on a he said she said situation is absolutely unacceptable, especially since they seemed to be short staffed already and cannot get a sandwich made in a decent time for the life of them.

As usual, the product I got was a sloppy version of the one on tv, but I admit it was excellent. The turkey met, stuffing and cranberry sauce were all top notch. The big problem is its hard to handle and eat without the filling falling out. I had them hollow out the roll to prevent the problem and it didnt work. The sub arrived piping hot (good thing) but due to the moisture from turkey and stuffing it made the roll limp. Even cut in half it was a challenge to handle without the filling falling out. Price for a large was $15 but after rounding up for firefighters and 10% tip my cosy was just under $18. Expensive but will easily feed 2 people
