Our family went in to purchase a new Mazda CX-5 on cash, given some of the car's raving reviews and popularity. Anthony Chaney, their "certified sales consultant" was sitting at the very first desk as soon as we entered. He did not bother to look up to greet us. A mug of tea had spilled over on his desk and computer, which he was not bothered by. I caught his attention and asked him if we could check out the CX-5. Despite the fact that there were 3 chairs in front of his desk (and we were 3 people), he did not bother to offer us a seat and simply started searching his computer, all in his own comfy, reclinable chair. He spoke in 2-3 word phrases, giving us little to no attention. He then took 10-15 minutes to get a CX-5 ready for us to test drive (we wanted to test drive it), although there was not a single other customer in the dealership at the time. After the test drive, I handed him back the key and he did not have ONE (yes ONE) word to say in response. I literally walked out of the dealership after handing him the key. Let me just say, I have been to many dealerships, have purchased & leased cars from dealerships, and this was the most rude and inconsiderate salesman I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I am purchasing a car from you brother - please, show some consideration! While I am still interested in a Mazda, due to this experience, I will not be purchasing as much as a tire from Mazda Scherer in Peoria. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE HERE! My wife and I have been looking for a Mazda CX-5 and the closest dealers are this one and Sam Leman Mazda in Bloomington. We gave this place a try and they said we would be approved for a $460 monthly payment loan for 72 months at 4.5% APR. We kept telling them under $500 monthly payment is what we've been looking for so this sounded great. Then after a few days we wanted to check on the process of our Mazda, since we had to order it, and the same guy we had told us it's on its way and good news is that it's only a $520 monthly payments at 7.2% APR for 75 months?! We were stunned because he lied to us about the monthly payments, the % of APR and how many months we were going to pay for it. He also said it's because our co-signer doesn't have amazing credit?? I checked with my co-signer and she has amazing credit and has been approved for tier-1 cars countless number of times. These people are lying to you, they say they can give you a great deal and that you won't get a better deal from anyone else (btw also a lie because Sam Leman Mazda in Bloomington actually has better deals) and they keep lying about how much your monthly payment is. Also, we were going to trade in one of our cars, super reliable just has 190k miles on it and they said that it was only in Fair condition. He also said that he ran out credit score, that was a lie. They are not willing to work with you on anything and when I told the salesperson today we aren't interested anymore and we would like our $200 deposit back for trading in our car, he acted immature and stomped his feet all the way to the front desk and just yelled at me and said she can help you there bye. Lol cmon man act professional even the person at the front desk was embarrassed by his behavior. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF. read more

I had a negative experience at this dealership. When I went in to look for a new car and sat down with my salesman, I overheard the owner and staff unprofessionally talking about a client that was in to buy a car. Foul language was being used. They were calling the customer a f***king a**hole and idiot. Dealerships should be mindful of customers and share their negative opinions behind closed doors. Although I love Mazda, I do not trust the staff in the Peoria location. I will not be buying from them again. In addition, the financial adviser, Scott, was very inconsistent and careless. He rushed the paperwork process and made several errors that I thankfully caught at the time of purchase. After my car purchase, I realized there was one piece of paperwork that I was missing. After waiting over an hour at the dealership for him, we sat back down in his office to talk. Instead of being helpful and apologetic, he acted bizarrely towards me, stating that my family and I were talking a lot during the paperwork process and must have lost it. It was a horrible experience at Scherer Mazda in Peoria, IL. My car was up for an oil change and there was a warning message on the dash that said "Smart Brake System Malfunction". The warning message would come on and off but was not creating any issues. I took my car to Scherer Mazda for an oil change and mentioned to the technician about the Smart Brake System Malfunction message. They called me up after an hour and said the message is because of low brake fluid and the reason for the low brake fluid is the worn-out brake pads and rotors. They recommended replacing the front and the rear brake pads and rotors which would cost around $480 and $460. I asked if they can only top off the brake and replace the brake pads. They said they do not top off brake fluid alone and they will not replace the brake pads alone but can replace the brake pads and rotor as a set only. The option they gave was to resurface the rotors which would cost $300 each for the front and rear. I told them not to replace anything but only to do the oil change. They said OK and finally, they had $80 for an oil change and $150 for diagnosing the "Smart Brake System Malfunction" message. I was shocked to see the $150 charge for diagnosing the warning message. They never mentioned the charge for diagnosing before. When asked, they said they can take off that charge if I replace the brake pads and rotors which would cost $480 & $460 for the front and rear. I had no other choice but to replace the front brake pad and rotor to remove the $75 from diagnosing charge $150 diagnosing charge. They literally cheated by not mentioning the diagnosing charge in advance. I would never go back to Scherer Mazda again for sales or service. read more

Had turbo go out 13 months ago had them put a new one in, thank god we got the extended power train warranty with a cost of 4grand for the new turbo. Now new turbo goes out 13 months latet and find out the last turbo ate up all the warranty amount... Never was told there was a spending limit when we purchased the warranty when we bought the car. Find out also that there was only a 12 month warranty on the last NEW turbo. And now they want another 4grand for another new turbo!!!! Seriously.. 13 months and the NEW turbo is dead...... read more

I found a car advertised on Facebook that I fell in love with. I contacted the sales man and agreed to come see it the next day. He was super nice and I decided that I wanted to buy the car. We went through paperwork and started applying for a loan to finance the 2000 I didnt have. I was told that I was approved and that I just needed to come back with an insurance card to be able to get the car. I put a deposit down and came back the next day where I met Scott. I was told by Scott that I wasn't approved and that he would call me in an hour to tell me if I was approved. I called him 4 hours later to get a voicemail. The next day I finally got ahold of him after 3 voicemails and he was so rude. I explained to him that I was told I was approved and that I could pick up the car and he got even ruder and told me I was misinformed. Finally a few days later I decided to go somewhere else where I bought a car no problem. I got my deposit back. read more

My mazda 6 battery would not hold a charge and was taken to their service center. When I called to inquire what they had done so far, I was yelled at and hung up on. It was strange because I was polite and merely asked a question. When I called back the same employee refused to speak with me further. Horrible customer service, horrible experience. I saw a vehicle advertised on CarGuru.com and contacted Scherer Volvo/Mazda/Lincoln to learn more information. Steve Brown responded to me very quickly. For several days, he and I corresponded back and forth with questions and answers about the vehicle until I felt comfortable to drive from out of state to see the vehicle in person. Steve sent me pictures and videos of the vehicle, inspection reports, and anything else I asked about. He was awesome! I have purchased many vehicles over the last 25 years and this experience was by far the best. Steve was honest, friendly, respectful, knowledgeable, and quick to reply with answers to my questions. Once I arrived at the dealership, I was greeted warmly by both Steve and Taylor Clark, the dealership Business Manager. The vehicle I was interested in was ready and waiting for me. After I checked out the vehicle in person and took it for a test drive, I was ready to talk with Steve and Taylor about a purchase. The two were as easy going as possible. I felt comfortable with the entire process. I not only bought a great vehicle at a great price, but Taylor was able to get me financed for a much lower interest rate than what my own credit union back home could offer. I bought a brand new Mazda 3 in November of 2013. It had 6 miles on it, the 6 miles of my test drive. It came with more problems than I ever could have imagined. The speedometer is off by a couple mph, one of the vents for air on the driver's side has been busted since day one, the windshield ices on the inside overnight in cold weather, the center console has had software issues (despite being 'fixed' multiple times) since day one (this includes locking me out of the GPS and constantly resetting the radio to static), the GPS didn't even know that O'Hare International Airport existed, among many many others. However, my problems with Scherer Mazda don't stop there. The service people have been quite rude to me in the past, they charge double what I have been quoted (and paid!) other places, they are often understocked (I needed a tire and a part for my air vent and they didn't have either thing available), they have routinely told me a problem is fixed without fixing it, among other things. Overall, this is my third car I have owned. My first new one. I had a Toyota Corolla that was older than I was and a Toyota Avalon. Both of these older cars (10+ years old when I got them) functioned better and came from a better dealer. In short, I will NEVER purchase another Mazda and, even if I did, I certainly wouldn't purchase it from Scherer Mazda. read more
