The single most ridiculous sports store I have ever seen. It was HUGE. It had a FERRIS WHEEL inside for crying out loud! The ferris wheel gets major props. Coffee tasted burnt (but they had coffee? and fudge? WHAT!) My friends got a super elite sleeping bag for apparently $30 then what was being sold online so I guess the prices are pretty good! This is one big sporting goods store. This is a mid-western chain, and the first one I have been to. First off the place is huge. Two stories with a Ferris Wheel in the middle (so bring the kids). They pretty much cover everything 'sporting-wise' you could want. I have been here on a couple occasions, and the staff has been friendly and helpful. They have just about everything you could want, from swimming, any sport with a 'ball' in the name, skiing/snowboarding, camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting. Ok, here's the thing. Scheel's has a great selection and their employees are very knowledgable. But their prices....Man you will save money even using extra gas to go to multiple stores. I love coming here to look around and ocasionally buy stuff, but not very often. They have a HUGE selection of athletic clothes. All of it is either Nike, Under Armour, or Adidas, or occasionally one or two other brands. But, it's $30 for a regular t-shirt. I can go get the same Nike t-shirt at pretty much any other store for $20-$25. They also have gym shorts that are like $60 if you're into that kind of thing. But they do literally have whatever color or design you want which is a plus. I found a new pair of running shoes I liked but it was $20 more than the MSRP on the website. I mean how? Guns section has a nice variety of new and used firearms. Prices here are more similar to other stores. Knowledgable guys and one of the only stores with AR accessories in town. Scheels is what I'd call a fusion of Cabelas and Sports Authority, making it the Wal Mart of outdoor sporting goods. From Cabelas, they borrow the elements of having plenty of outdoor activity goods and expensive prices. I don't know why some of the stuff is as expensive as it is, considering the possibility half the crap comes from China. From Sports Authority, they have bikes and sports clothing, especially its own section for Huskers stuff. A couple of other attractions is the fudge shoppe and a Ferris wheel. The people who work there do a good job of not accosting you when you don't need help, but will go out of their way when you do need it. Also, there is a ferris wheel. And tbh, any place with a ferris wheel is 5 stars in my book. read more

Scheels is a really fun sporting goods store. They have everything from clothing to sports equipment, hunting and fishing supplies, guns, ammo, canning and smoking items to household goods. They have a large Ferris wheel in the middle you can ride and you can get coffee and fudge there too. The employees are always helpful and positive and they ensure they always have enough of them on hand. They also host seminars occasionally and they use it for some sports registration, so it can get a bit crowded during those times. If you come on a cold and snowy day this place is always packed- I think people just go there because they go stir crazy sometime! I love to walk around and just dream about buying their ice fishing camps (my wife still will not let me!) Its a fun place to go but the only draw back is the prices. read more

Don't usually leave review s, but feel I have no choice. Bought a new MT bike here. After one day and zero miles, rear tire explodes. Literally explodes. Call store, no problem bring it in... Well I live 4hrs round trip... inconvenient. Not only replaced, but upgraded tires at no cost. But wait, also gave me a100$ gift card for my troubles!!! Scheels has an amazing and sometimes expensive selection of merchandise but when the zipper on the North Face jacket I purchased last year broke off. I was advised by management to bring it in. Management said they could send it off for repair since there is a lifetime warranty on it. Now, A week after bringing it in to them I'm being told Scheels no longer assists with any warranty repairs and that I would have to work with North Face directly to resolve the issue. This was a huge inconvenience and waist of time. Scheels needs to work on educating their employees of any changes to policy. read more

Over priced! Inconsistent with the staff. Some are super nice and others could care less, which is a reflection on the management and how not involved they are with their staff. if i could give this 0 stars i would. i wish i had never stepped in this store. worst day ever. all we wanted to do was ride the FREAKING ferris wheel, and we got kicked off because our phones were on our laps instead of being in our pockets, and i took a 10 second snapchat WHEN THE RIDE WAS STOPPED. our one lap we did on it wasn't even fun, because it stopped every three seconds and a mean, crabby old witch was watching us from the balcony that spoiled my entire experience. and then we got to the bottom, there was another even meaner woman who basically screamed at us to get off because we had ruined the ride for everyone. the red in her face matched the steam coming out of her ears and i was frightened for my life. so if you were looking to take a cute pic of you and your child on the ferris wheel, i suggest going elsewhere. i, for one, will never be returning. in fact, i am hiding in the clothes so that they don't find me and yell at me again. so i guess if you want your whole night to be ruined, come here! read more

Was very disappointed when they told me they didn't have Milwaukee Bucks stuff there!! Isn't this a sports store?!

The Scheel's radio and TV commercials usually feature an employee whose comments end with something like, "I'm _____ and I'm a _____ expert at Scheel's." Well, they're right. The floor sales people are more like consultants than sales people. Compared to their competitors, the Scheel's staff have better product knowledge, will spend more time with you, and are just plain more pleasant people. To confirm this, go to the megastore on the south side of town, take a number at the gun counter where the guns are isolated, and talk to their counter attendants who will fetch a rifle or shotgun for you but will act as though you are interrupting their *real* jobs. Compare that to the open gun racks at Scheel's where you can take down your selection and where the expert staff acts as though they want to invite you to lunch. These people are not *clerks*. You may be able to find a slightly better price elsewhere but tolerating an unpleasant shopping experience with unfriendly and unknowledgeable *clerks* isn't worth it to me. The Scheel's employees make the difference. read more

Overpriced but darn do I love coming to this place. Omaha would be better served with a true outdoor place like Gander Mountain or REI, but this place is pretty cool. I always get my husker stuff here and when they have sales on coats, we hop in the family vehcile and head over. I like the selection of all the other college and pro teams available. I got a bike tune up and had a new chain put on my bike a few days ago. I had someone with a pickup take my bike in and pick it up for me because it won't fit in my little car. But after getting it home and riding it a little, it was not shifting correctly and had issues with the derailleur that were beyond my ability to fix. So I went back to the Scheels Bike Tuning & Repair shop and told them about the problem and my difficulty of getting it back to the store. So Bob & Chase we soooo kind, helpful and friendly- they said they could come pick it up and bring it back to the shop to fix it for free since they guarantee satisfaction. So Bob brought the Scheels pickup to my apartment about 6 miles away, picked up my bike and then brought it back an hour later all fixed. They were so kind and happy to help me out. I will definitely keep doing all my bike purchases and maintenance there and recommend it to anyone who needs satisfaction guaranteed. Awesome customer service! Thanks Bob & Chase. read more
