Started our meals with fresh greens house salads. There were 4 in our party. One New York strip, one ribeye, one filet and one salmon. Steaks were very generous and cooked perfectly. Three of us had hash browns cooked crisp, one had baked potato. Hash browns came with a cheese sauce if desired. Salmon was a generous slab cooked to perfection. I had a side of mushrooms which were delicious. Our server was very attentive. Food came promptly to the table hot. Highly recommend without any reservations. Can't wait to return. We had reservations for 5:30 but got there early and we were able to be seated right away. Our waitress was there fairly quickly and took our drink orders. We decided to start with onion rings and what a great choice, they were delicious. Two of us got prime rib and two of us got 8 ounce filets, 2 baked potatoes and 2 hash browns. We also got salads and French onion soup. Everything was delicious!!!! Service was attentive but not overbearing. The only issues we had, and they were slight, we had to ask for menus and our salads came out with our appetizer. I'm a big fan of getting the appetizer before the salad. But the food was so good I overlooked it this time. It was just a bit pricey but well worth it. We look forward to going back.

This is a nice little rivertown restaurant. If you come while it is light out, you may be lucky…read moreenough to sit by the wall of windows and enjoy the view of the Mississippi River. I would try to get a reservation if this is a priority to you. The parking is curbside and can be a little tight. The prices are a little high for the area, but the time and talent to make smoked meats make the prices understandable. The food was good, but there were several things we tried to order, but they were out of those options, so we may have enjoyed them more than what we settled for. Everything from the asparagus to the meats was pretty heavy in black pepper and spices, so it tended to be spicy, which not everyone at the table appreciated. It might not have seemed so spicy if the food was served with some type of bread like at most other bbq type places. We did enjoy the pickles and onion on the plate as the vinegar cut some of the fattines that meat tends to have. I can't say enough good about the service as they were top notch very kind and attentive.

We came here for to celebrate my dad's birthday and it turned out to be a wonderful evening. The…read moreservice was very attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was very dark and intimate. We ordered the saganaki to start, which was flambéed table side and it was fresh and delicious. We shared the porterhouse and the lamb chops (which were loins, not ribs) and there was an extra $8 charge on shared plates. The porterhouse was very tasty and cooked to perfection. The filet portion was my favorite part. The lamb loin chops were very thick and came with 4 large pieces. Each order came with a side salad or soup, and some type of potato, with many options to choose from. I love the Greek influence on this steak house restaurant. This is a great place to celebrate a special occasion or for a nice dinner.

My wife and I came to Galena to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary. For our Saturday night…read moredinner, we decided to go to Log Cabin, hoping to celebrate the occasion properly. When I called to make our reservation, I let the staff know we were coming in for our 10-year anniversary. When we arrived, I also mentioned it to the host (the bald gentleman with glasses). He responded with, "Well, your wife is right behind you--there goes the surprise," as if she wouldn't know it was our anniversary. At no point during the evening did anyone acknowledge our celebration or even say "Happy anniversary." I even asked our waiter, Pat M., whether anyone had told him we were celebrating anything. He said no--that no one had informed him we were there for our anniversary. We didn't come expecting free food, dessert, or anything special. But not acknowledging our anniversary at all--especially after we mentioned it twice--was frustrating. Every other place we've celebrated at has at least offered a simple "Happy anniversary," if not a dessert, flowers on the table, or a personalized menu. Log Cabin truly dropped the ball, and I believe the host is largely to blame.

My wife had the Chicken George and it was perfectly good all the way around. I had the Swiss Dip sandwich and it also was very good, one of the best I've had in quite some time. Wait staff was all good, no complaints there. Only one slight problem, the girl serving had forgotten my fries but she brought them out in about 2 mins. Food temp was good with everything. It's a nice place to eat and the food was very good was what we found. Definitely will be back to try the Prime Rib on a Saturday. We don't just throw 5 stars out there over all the years. It takes quite a bit to just get 4 stars from us. It's difficult to tell with some reviews anymore. Reviews we had read of a some other restaurants where people had given raving reviews over a length of time and we found the exact opposite. And we could tell it wasn't just an off day for them. We could tell by the ingredients they use and how it's prepared. They're using sub-par ingredients (in our opinion) for one thing yet charging right up there in price. We don't have a problem eating here again anyway. Definitely will be back.

Our server was very helpful but stretched very thin. It is very convenient having an elevator right up to the restaurant. The restrooms are right there. On this day which was Mother's Day two of the toilets in the women's room were out of service. I think the ambiance is so awesome right on the river with plenty of windows to watch the boats.
