Cool interior in this decommissioned church
Lee D.

We stopped in Clinton on our way home from the East coast to visit the Dambo trolls. As is the hope for towns that have these trolls, we decided to eat at a local establishment before hitting the road again. This place was recommended by both Yelp and a local and we were glad we stopped in! There is no doubt you are in a restored decommissioned church so the atmosphere was definitely unique! High or low top tables plus outside seating on a quiet street. We opted for inside as it was hot outside. We both had the specials: hubby had the shrimp Poboy which was very good. He especially appreciated the option to have tater tots as his side. He had the pink lemonade craft soda- originally thought he would like to try other flavors but really liked this one. I had the pickle pizza (without bacon as I am a vegetarian) and it was very tasty. I love salt but there was even a bit too much salt on the pretzel crust. It was easily remedied by brushing the excess off. Ate half and brought half home to enjoy the next day. Service was friendly and efficient but I forgot to note the name of our server. If you are in town visiting the trolls, make sure you put this place on your list!

We went on a Friday afternoon after hunting trolls. The place is in a beautifully repurposed church. Stained glass windows, an altar - the works. It's a brewery and restaurant. There were people of all ages, and there was even a small arcade area for the kids. We were seated quickly and had our order taken quickly. We ordered the Bourbon Chicken Pizza - it was awesome. Check this place out for the great food, beers and vibe.

This is a beautiful old church turned brewery and restaurant. Good food and good craft beer! We had Zeit Bites (pretzel bites with beer cheese) and the Bikini Bottoms pizza (like crab Rangoon on a pizza). Both very good! I also had a beer flight and their craft beers are good too! Our server was personable and friendly. Highly recommend!

Went in for dinner one evening. Found two open seats at the bar. Place was packed. Typical pub…read moreatmosphere. Service was sufficient. They were doing the best they could with the staff they had for the crowd they had. Ordered the beaded tenderloin. Holy smokes was it huge. Took half for leftovers. It was one of the better tenderloins I've had recently. Would definitely go back. Based on watching orders coming out of the kitchen, the tenderloin It's the thing everyone gets. Will definitely return.

My first review was taken down for some reason. So here we go again…read more. I actually went back to this establishment a few times because I wanted to give Stout's Irish Pub the benefit of the doubt. I thought maybe the first experience was just an off day for the waitresses. Unfortunately, after going back, I realized it wasn't a one-time thing. Each time, I've found the service to be rude, dismissive, and generally unwelcoming. There seems to be a select group of staff who are very close with certain customers and will spend their time talking with and befriending them, while other customers are seemingly ignored. I've also noticed staff spending a lot of time on their phones or sitting at the bar instead of checking on customers. The overall attitude from some of the staff gives off major "mean girl" energy. It's especially noticeable because there was a newer staff member during my most recent visit who was genuinely kind, attentive, and good at her job. I really enjoyed interacting with her, and she honestly stood out from the rest in the best way. The food is just okay and, in my opinion, lacks flavor. If you order it to go, expect it to be pretty soggy by the time you get home. I gave this place multiple chances because I really wanted to like it, but unfortunately the repeated poor service and mediocre food have completely turned me off. I won't be returning.

Checked out this brewery in Freeport after coming across other places that had their beers…read more Generations is one of the main reasons to come here. It certainly has quite a few things on tap. A lot more in cans. They also have a few snacks. By the looks of the outside it wasn't anything special, just like a warehouse or something common. It's a lot more interesting inside. The taproom has enough room for the bar, and quite a few tables. Got a view into the back to see where the beers are made. There's a balcony where bands can play live music too. Beers are why people come of course. It's about $7 a pint. Best one we had of these was the Tawny Ale. This is an Irish Red of medium strength. It's about $12 for a soft pretzel. These are massive so they're great for sharing. One of the dips looked like peanut butter. This was actually fudge if you can believe it, and you can get cheese as well as mustard. For sure it's one of this city's main attractions. It's got lots of beers, and because it's in the Pretzel City, get one of those to munch on. They're closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

A very cool, relaxing, welcoming place to enjoy a beer, have great conversation with a bartender,…read moreand sit outside when the weather permits. A large bar with well designed beer garden. They have a variety of beers and one named after Freeport the Pretzel City! They have lagers, pilsners and ales. The environment is relaxing and the building stands out ! Since the main road is under construction , GPS did not help, but after we realized it kept rerouting us to the closed road. If in the area, stop in. Also their beer can be found in many locations in the Rockford area and some Binnys.
