Everyone at my table ordered one of the speclity beers I chose the blueberry one. The serving was huge. I didn't think I'd be able to drink it all -but it went down so smooth I did. We started out our meal with the pretzel appetizer. Delicious, just the way I like them, a thin coating of butter and not too much salt and a few dips to choose from. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich, for my entree, it was huge! I didn't think I could eat it all - but I did. The sandwich came with a side of tots. There were millions of them it seemed (I was not able to eat all of those). It was a great place to meet friends for dinner on a cold and rainy night.

We made the 10 minute drive to downtown Davenport and found the place with easy parking right across the street. This a neat spot near the Mississippi River and in an old brick building. The restaurant was rustic industrial and very clean and pleasing. We were greeted and took a seat near the window where we could view the river area. Our server was quite attentive. I ordered the smoked Gouda burger and cheese curds and my wife ordered the chicken strip basket. Our food arrived in a quick manner. The burger was awesome. The Gouda cheese was creamy and the burger and grilled onions were hot and fresh. The cheese curds were hot and fresh and came with a side of house made ranch dressing. My wife enjoyed the chicken strips that appeared hand breaded and she really liked the hush puppies (yes, we time time for the hush puppies). This was a pleasant change from the other meals we had on this trip. If your are in the area, give it a try. The photo of my meal almost didn't happen because I was enjoying it so much.

My first review was taken down for some reason. So here we go again…read more. I actually went back to this establishment a few times because I wanted to give Stout's Irish Pub the benefit of the doubt. I thought maybe the first experience was just an off day for the waitresses. Unfortunately, after going back, I realized it wasn't a one-time thing. Each time, I've found the service to be rude, dismissive, and generally unwelcoming. There seems to be a select group of staff who are very close with certain customers and will spend their time talking with and befriending them, while other customers are seemingly ignored. I've also noticed staff spending a lot of time on their phones or sitting at the bar instead of checking on customers. The overall attitude from some of the staff gives off major "mean girl" energy. It's especially noticeable because there was a newer staff member during my most recent visit who was genuinely kind, attentive, and good at her job. I really enjoyed interacting with her, and she honestly stood out from the rest in the best way. The food is just okay and, in my opinion, lacks flavor. If you order it to go, expect it to be pretty soggy by the time you get home. I gave this place multiple chances because I really wanted to like it, but unfortunately the repeated poor service and mediocre food have completely turned me off. I won't be returning.

We went to 'The Half Nelson' with high hopes from what we'd heard from seasoned locals. While the pork chop was satisfactory, the pork collar they paired it with on the October menu was the saltiest thing I have ever had the misfortune of attempting to consume. It tasted like some sort of salt lick you put in a gerbil cage to supplement their sodium intake. And I won't even get started on how awful the braised greens were... (unspeakably repulsive). The most edible piece of food on the October menu's 'pork two ways' plate were the two miniscule pieces of roasted sweet potato. I thought it was garnish at first only to realize it was the most tasteful component of the dish. Unfortunately, the majority of our dinner party left this restaurant thoroughly disenchanted. My advice to the owners: you have a great atmosphere, find your signatures! Me&Billy's pork chop plate puts your above-referenced pork dish to SHAME. Servers also carry themselves as if they are part of an elite group of fine-dining wizards, but they give Denny's level service and just act as pretentious as they can possibly fake. Bottom line: Fade the .3333 repeating nelson if you want to invest in a fine meal and take your hard earned money down to a place like Me&Billy's. The food will be orders of magnutude better and you won't be made to feel like an inadequate plebian for spending money there. The reason they get two stars is because the building and atmosphere they have is actually quite nice. Perhaps their October menu was a miss, but they won't have me back to see a make.

I didn't expect much regarding food choices and even food quality, but I had hoped to be delightfully surprised. The menu is as you would expect from a bar, with lots of fried food. They did have a choice of three different kinds of salad so I went with the healthiest option which was grilled chicken salad. The salad was fine but the chicken was terrible. It was way over cooked and did not even taste good. I ate probably 2 ounces of chicken or less and focused on eating the rest of the salad. Everyone at our table said the service was great but their food was marginal. Prices were reasonable but with the lack of decor and acceptable food, I figured I wouldn't never return there. Later that night I was hit with some severe digestive problems and we will leave it at that.
