I went to Contrary Brewing Company with my boyfriend when we were in Muscatine, Iowa. The staff were friendly and nice and they had great craft beer on tap. We got a flight to share and then bought some cans and bottles to go as well. It was so neat that their beer flights were served in cookie tins...a great unique idea. I liked their dimly lit ambiance and how you could look around the brewery and see smiles on everyone's faces. A definite great place to stop to indulge yourself in some excellent craft beer!!

Stopped by for beers and snacks. The patrons were super friendly and we had a great time. The beer list was long and every beer we tried was very good. Life After Breakfast Smoked Maple Coffee Porter was especially good. The brewery sits along the Mississippi River with a nice view.

Love this place, ambiance is fantastic! Love music when covid bullshit isn't in place. They have a fantastic variety of beer, I only drink sour beer, and they ALWAYS have one, that is ALWAYS amazing! Staff are friendly, indoor and outdoor seating available. I love the industrial look of the place!

Sitting outside with the river view, drinking a summer brew on a summer evening, it's all you could ask for in a Muscatine evening. One of the best stops in town for a drink. Food options, too, with the Clamshell Diner.

This place is awesome. It's huge and it's wide open which is awesome and has plenty of room for everyone. They had about 16 beers which they make themselves. All those beers were extremely good. I want to come back in the summer as the place is right on the riverfront and drinking beer and sitting along the river would be awesome!!!

This is the new (first) nano brewery in Muscatine Iowa. I am going to put it out there now, the quality of the beers served here show the love and dedication of Brew master Mark Mitchell. I can honestly say he not only loves what he produces but takes immense pride in it. Try them all when you come and you won't be disappointed.

Great addition to downtown Muscatine. Nice view of the river from the outdoor deck. Excellent and innovative craft brews.

Beer and food is great, but needs a land line to call for questions. The cell is not acceptable to leave a message without an answer.

Heavy metal vibes and ice cold beers…read more Needing a break from the afternoon shenanigans, we walked over to Stompbox Brewing after checking out the Skybridge for a quick drink. We didn't exactly plan to visit it this early into the day but since it was right there, we figured it was the perfect time to check it out so we didn't have to backtrack. Upon walking in, I knew I was in my place. I am a big fan of hard rock and heavy metal and this place oozed with tributes and references to many metal bands and songs. But, it doesn't beat you over the head with it too much and has a restaurant/bar vibe going as well. Emily and I took a table and ordered some drinks while we took this place in. We didn't have late lunch plans but knew we wanted to keep exploring before eating and settling in for the day, so we stuck with just beer here. The food menu did look pretty good and the hot pretzel bites did sound like the perfect accompaniment to our beer but maybe next time. I grabbed the Hefe Metal and Emily got a flight of beers. Her choices were: Devils Made Me Brew It, Flood Insurance, When the Levee Breaks, and Peach Fuzz. I really enjoyed my Hefe Metal and grabbed a can of it to go. Emily really liked the When the Levee Breaks but, in general, liked all her beers but the Devils. When we first took a sip, it was really good but at the halfway point, the beer started to smell and taste like a dirty gym locker room. She let me have the honors of putting the rest of it down. While we were relaxing and having our beers, we saw they had stickers and some sweet shirt designs. The stickers were only $1, so we grabbed two of each. There was a shirt design we both really liked but only mine was in stock. Emily was okay with that since one of the stickers had the design on it, too. Shirts were $25 a piece. Since we were only here for a quick stop, I'll keep this short. The beer for the most part was delicious. The people working were super friendly and the vibe of the place was killer. Between here, Wake Brewing, and Raccoon Motel, I'm starting to think the Quad Cities has a pretty solid heave metal scene... which is pretty frickin' a in my book. I'd highly suggest Stompbox Brewing if you need a place to grab a beer and do some light headbanging.

Service was great too, very friendly. Came in on a Sunday afternoon by myself and felt right at home. The place has a metal vibe but it's not overly done.
