View, atmosphere, food, service, this place has it all! Oh yeah, and beer of course! Some of the best sour beer I have had in a long time. Their light lager was also delicious! I had heard great things about this place for over five years now, and I was not disappointed! We came early Saturday afternoon so it was not too busy. We were in town for a wedding and the reception took place at the brewery. The space had a great vibe and the staff were all accommodating and helpful. They even turned the UofL football game on for me. Everyone who ordered food and drinks complimented the taste. We would definitely go back if we are ever in the area. read more

I went to Contrary Brewing Company with my boyfriend when we were in Muscatine, Iowa. The staff were friendly and nice and they had great craft beer on tap. We got a flight to share and then bought some cans and bottles to go as well. It was so neat that their beer flights were served in cookie tins...a great unique idea. I liked their dimly lit ambiance and how you could look around the brewery and see smiles on everyone's faces. A definite great place to stop to indulge yourself in some excellent craft beer!! read more

Stopped by for beers and snacks. The patrons were super friendly and we had a great time. The beer list was long and every beer we tried was very good. Life After Breakfast Smoked Maple Coffee Porter was especially good. The brewery sits along the Mississippi River with a nice view. read more

I love this place! There were over 26 beers available that were brewed in-house and all so delicious! There were experimental flavors, traditional flavors, and barrel-aged offerings - really something for everyone, and every single one of them was delicious. My unexpected favorite for the night was the BA Menage a Quad w/Door County Cherries - one of the bartenders suggested it when we were picking 6 beers for a flight. I'm so glad I listened! I ended up buying a bottle to take back home with me in Texas. The environment inside was warm and welcoming and the bartenders were helpful, attentive, and friendly. If you enjoy a variety of beers and would like a relaxing location to enjoy them, this place is a must-see! read more

This place is awesome. It's huge and it's wide open which is awesome and has plenty of room for everyone. They had about 16 beers which they make themselves. All those beers were extremely good. I want to come back in the summer as the place is right on the riverfront and drinking beer and sitting along the river would be awesome!!! read more

Great addition to downtown Muscatine. Nice view of the river from the outdoor deck. Excellent and innovative craft brews.

There probably hasn't been a brewery in Muscatine since Prohibition, and there was a long unfilled demand. What arose is spectacular, and not just because we've been stuck drinking Bud Light since 1919. Mark has a great taste for beer, and offers an evolving selection of diverse brews. read more
