The dog days of summer can be so delicious. Driving and exploring all morning and afternoon lead us to needing some food and beer to refresh and recharge our batteries. Emily wanted to check out Five Cities based on their logo containing a dog and liking most of their beer offerings. We dropped in around 1pm to a mostly empty place as there was only one other table. The bartender was beyond friendly and helped us at every step of the way. We ordered our drinks at the bar and took them to a table where we could be alone. Emily started with the Bikini Bottom and I got the Here Kitty Kitty Kitty. Emily's drink came in a pineapple glass and was very strong on the pineapple flavor. Here Kitty Kitty Kitty was just about perfect for an IPA. We ordered a second drink with our food. I stuck with the Kitty and Emily switched to the Crush Tangerine. Next door is Central Standard Craft Burgers & Beer. As we were walking in, I jokingly said it would be funny if the food we order here came from next door. Sure enough, that is exactly what happens. Emily got The Standard Club with coleslaw, and I got the Fire & Smoke burger. I'd say within 10 minutes of our bartender taking our order (which we had to do at the bar), our food was in front of us in these neat little boxes. Once you crack the sticker, heaven is waiting for you inside. My burger came with lightly battered french fries. This style is my favorite, by far. Both Emily and I were in heaven eating our delicious food. From the first bite to the last fry was some of the best food I've had in months, maybe all year. Pair it with the beer and we didn't want to leave. I'd say I would like to try out Central Standard itself and see if the experience is the same there. All in all, we had a blast at Five Cities Brewing. I got a shirt and some (free at the time) stickers in their merch corner. Emily got a koozie and some stickers herself. The shirt I got was a medium and ended up running on the smaller/athletic side. If I can lose about 15 pounds, you'll get to see the fun shirt pop up in a future review as it has a funny saying on the back. read more

Been a customer there for eight years came in today because of a posted Facebook special and was told that they would not recognize the special even though I showed them that it was still on their facebook page. I really wanted to like this place. The location is ok. Not enough parking. When you order food, it comes from another business next door. They charge you a to go fee for the food. Of which they don't inform you of, when you order. $15 for a burger and fries. It was a decent burger, but very greasy. I've had better for much less. Then I paid $8 for a normal sized beer on tap. That's just plain stupid for a draft beer. It was ok. My ticket was over $27 for a burger, fries and 1 beer. Definitely not worth the price. The service was average at best. You have to go to the bar to order food and drinks. No servers came to the table, except when delivering our food. I tipped as one should, but I was asking myself why tip? All they did was bring the food to the table. Nothing else. Our table was full of our empty plates and boxes, until we left. read more

For starters, it's a pretty fun place to hang out: Lots of different seating arrangements; there's darts, foosball, and shuffleboard; and an abundance (an overdose, really) of TVs. The beer, however, is mediocre, and it's in a non-walkable part of town. As the fifth brewery in a 400k metro area, you need to step up your beer game if you want to stand out, or, at the minimum, be recognized. The beers on my flight - porter (nitro and regular), Hefeweizen, wheat, and pale ale - weren't anything special. I expected more depth from the porter and more zing from the Hefeweizen. They probably need a few more months to get the kinks worked out, so I may come back in a year or so to see how things are going. In the meantime, I'll consider ourselves fortunate to live in such a creative, micro-brew-loving part of Iowa. read more

We're out-of-towners and we have been to Five Cities a couple of times. If you're looking for food that do not have any. Nearby places deliver here. Five Cities has a nice vibe to it. It's classy and casual. During the Covid pandemic there was no table service. The beers that I have had here are all at least decent. I like the red ale, "Crushin' On Amber" and the blonde, "Calmer N' You Are". Definitely stop-worthy, four stars. read more

Love this brewery!!! It's got some great outdoor seating with fire places, and lots of indoor seating with foosball and shuffleboard too. It's got a classy but casual vibe. Plus free popcorn! Last night I tried the Bikini Bottom Pineapple Wheat and it was the best beer I've ever had! We'll be back for more for sure. While Five Cities doesn't technically serve food, they have menus from two nearby restaurants. You order with your waitress, she handles calling in your food, it's delivered to your table, and it's all put on the same tab as your drinks! So easy. Five Cities is an awesome addition to the Quad City brewery scene! It is a large venue with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff and bar staff are always super friendly and very helpful on giving opinions on beer! You can order food from Crust or Central Standard (they are all 3 owned by the same company) and have the food delivered for FREE. And there is FREE popcorn with yummy powder flavors. We came on a Tuesday night and there were two amazing deals. 10% off of Crust pizzas and mugs for the price of pints!! The beers are always rotating and are seriously good. I'm a beer snob and I've never had a beer here that I don't like. Their IPAs and NEIPAs (north eastern IPA) are always stunning, and I'm a sucker for a good fruit beer! read more

This brewery opened up while I was pregnant and I was looking forward to trying it. We showed up at 4 in the afternoon with our 7 week old baby asleep in his carrier, excited to have a beer on the patio on a beautiful day. The server stopped us before we could even sit down and said our baby couldn't be there since this is a 21 and over establishment? I clarified that the baby is 7 weeks old and clearly not going to consume alcohol. The server said they have to be "consistent" with their policy and informed us we had to leave. My wife and I dropped our three-year-old son off and took our new three-week-old baby with us to try out some beers here. While we were getting situated and looking over the menu, we were approached by a server and pointed at the carseat and said "he can't be here - he needs to be 21 or older." We laughed and smiled because we genuinely thought she was joking - she wasn't. She proceeded to give her opinion which she said she doesn't agree with the policy. I told her that she should tell the owner to familiarize themselves with the law because there are no laws prohibiting minors from being in such an establishment. She states that they know it isn't the law but it's their choice to not allow anyone under 21. My wife and I have been to countless breweries across the country, including every single OTHER brewery here in the Quad Cities with our toddler - and we're usually not the only ones with a kid in tow. This is the most asinine policy to have in an area with so many young parents. I hope they consider changing their policy because if a business wants to make it difficult for me to go, then they don't deserve my business. We went down the street to Crawford Brewing where they scoffed at the notion of not allowing children - they even have a sign that states they allow (well-behaved and tended-to) children until 10PM. Change your ridiculous snooty policy - until then, I will be informing everyone I know to stay away. read more

In my opinion this place is the best in town for the total experience. The beer is great, and it is elevated to excellent, due to including guest taps as well. The food is great because they are owned by the same people that own crust and central standard, so they have menus on hand and food is walked over without delay. Atmosphere is a 9/10 due to the indoor/outdoor design with large bay doors and fire pits. Indoors, there is free shuffleboard foosball and popcorn. TVs are everywhere and the place is very clean. The servers are great, and many of them have come from other local establishments. If you see good servers flicking to a place, it is where you want to go!! read more

I had an overall positive experience here. My boyfriend and I went to have a relaxing beer night and munch on some appeizers. We went on a Wednesday night so it was not crowded at all. We wanted to sit outside but they only had 2 small tables that were both taken (the others seater 8+ people). We sat inside and decided to move outside when a table opened. we were both really impressed with the beers they had to offer. I dont like the hoppy taste beer has and they had a multiple beers that I would drink! My boyriends on the other hand loves beer and had an easy time finding some of his favorites. We ended up getting appetizers and food which we were both impressed with. Although it is differen that you order at the bar and they bring the food over from Central Standard, I found no issue. The food came in a timely manner and was HOT and there was never a long line to order at the bar. Overall I enjoyed sitting there drinking beer and enjoying the nice atmosphere. read more
