I called three times to request an appointment for an estimate for a panel upgrade. Unfortunately I never received the courtesy of a response. Took care of a simple electrical outlet issue which took 20 minutes to resolve. They sent 2 men and charged $150 even though I explained the situation when I set up the appointment and was even told that it was probably an easy fix. Lesson learned. We had a household 220 job that other companies didn't want to take the time to do since it was rather small. I highly recommend Scott and his team. He and his crew have always been very responsive and they are nice people. About a year and a half ago they installed a 220 breaker, ran the cable through my garage wall, and outlet (with industrial-grade receptacle) for my EV. Today charging suddenly stopped working. I called Scott and he showed up quickly. In that one-in-a-million case, the breaker had gone bad. Scott replaced the breaker, and checked the wiring and outlet. While they were working on it, I mentioned a bad outlet in the garage, Scott replaced that too. The replacement breaker and new outlet were no charge. My next upgrade is to have Scott install a ceiling fan! read more

They clarified the problem I was having with my smoke detectors and I was pleased I did not need a new electric circuit breaker panel. Hands down the worst contractor I've (attempted to) work with. I don't normally leave reviews unless they're pretty good experiences but this one is worth writing. I had a window setup with them from 12-2 to take a look at a circuit that stopped working in my house. I was at home but needed to step out and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be gone when they came by. I called to see if they'd be here in 5 minutes or an hour and the guy on the phone (not particularly friendly) told me he'd contact the electrician and give me a call back. 2 pm rolls around, the window is up, I call him back and ask what's going on and that I didn't get a phone call from them and I'm still waiting around. He said that it was my choice to wait around so that's my fault and not his (weird response). He said the guy was supposed to call me, he was going to reach out and find out what happened and give me a call back. It's now 5 pm. I call them and let them know they don't need to bother, since they didn't come by at all and the dude doesn't respond back, no explanation, no apology, just hangs up! Can't discourage using these guys enough. I understand things happen, jobs take longer than expected, but as someone who's trying to get service (and got an appointment window), I expect them to communicate when things go up or at least give me updates. I would also expect them to be apologetic if they're wasting someone's time. I got none of that. Find anyone else. They may be good at their job, this could even be an outlier and this is a rarity. But based on my experience, I would say if you were debating between them and someone else, work with someone else. read more

I have used Schaefer Electric several times over the last 10 years to help with electrical problems at my home. My office was recently re-decorated which required bringing in 12 overhead lights. The Schaefer crew did a fantastic job, however when the job was finished, I realized that the lights would do a better job if located in different spots. Before I could express my second thoughts, Scott Schaefer told me that he was not happy with the lights placement. His crew then returned and moved the lights to the new locations. We had Schaefer Electric, Oxnard, Calif. come to our home to install 3 ceiling fans and 6 can lights on our vaulted ceiling, plus replacing some old electrical outlets in the garage and hanging new lights in the garage. Let me tell you, Scott knows how to run a business! Communication was great, the 3 guys were all courteous and respectful. They came when they said they would come, did what we asked them to do, and cleaned up after themselves. Upon moving into a new home I found three of four wall outlets, where the TV/cable box would be placed, didn't work - two of which were behind where the wall-mounted TV would go. Scott Schaefer has a problem knowing how to deal with customers. We have tried to use him the past few years but invariably he ends up trying to tell the customer how the job should or should not be done at an informational level at which he has no business. In other words, this guy is argumentative and annoying too much of the time. Scott called back the next day and was able to come out and give a quote the following day, a Saturday. His price was very reasonable. I have used Schaefer Electric a number of times and I am always so happy with the work they do. They came out and checked the wiring on a couple of houses when I was looking for a home at NO charge. They transferred my crystal chandelier from my old house and installed it in my new one.
