I cannot say enough great things about Schaefer Auto Body! They are absolutely fantastic! My wife and I had an accident (we were rear-ended) and the person who hit us had AAA insurance (hats off to AAA, as well). One of the body shops that AAA works with is Schaefer Auto Body. I checked out the reviews and saw how outstanding people said they were, so we decided to take our 2020 Honda Accord into them. When we walked in the door, we were greeted warmly and treated with incredibly professional service and understanding. The process to get everything set up for the repair was very easy and fast! Also, on a quick sidenote, I would like to complement and say thank you to AAA for making the insurance process super-easy and VERY hassle-free!! We were told by AAA to let them know when we got the date scheduled for the repair so that Enterprise (hats off to them, too!) could get a rental vehicle to us. They paid for the rental, and they also cut a check to the body shop for the entire amount of the repair! We didn't have to come out of pocket one single dime!! Thank you, AAA!!! Now back to Schaefer! They had our car for only about three weeks. When we picked it up, she looked so pretty! It looked like it was brand-new, fresh off the showroom floor! Everything was in perfect working order! Not only do they repair the body itself, they also tow the car, on a flatbed trailer, to their Creve Coeur location to have diagnostics done on it to make sure that if there was electronic systems damage done that they would fix it. They are also an authorized Honda repair center. Schaefer has a motto that is: "Make It Like It Never Happened!". They live up to that motto, too!! I took my car here to have a new rim and trim piece fixed. They had my car for over two weeks after being told it would only be a few days. After calling and calling to get an update they finally tell me the car is ready for pick up. Once I got there I noticed they didn't fix the trim so I asked why and they said oh didn't we tell you that piece is on back order. I told them not to fix it and to just take it off the bill and I'll just take my car. I then called my dealer and had them fix it the next day at no charge. When I went to pay Schaffer for the work they tried to bill me for the trim work they told me they would take it off the bill and to call back or I can pay the balance and wait for a refund and I said I'll call back. I called back 5 more times and every time they wanted me to pay for the trim so I said just call me once you fixed the bill, weeks go by and I hear nothing from them. I checked my mail one day and had a letter from their attorney wanting me to pay for the entire repair plus attorney fees. I called them and tried to explain what happened and what's been going on and they didn't care and said once the attorney fee is out on the bill it can not come off. I spoke to a guy by the name of Mike Abfall who was extremely rude and condescending to me the entire time. I told him more than 10 times I'll pay the bill right now but only for the work performed not for something that you didn't fix. His response was to pay the entire bill or go to court. So now we will have to go to court because they want to try and take advantage of their customers. I wouldn't recommend these guys to anyone! Unfortunately this is why mechanics get bad names because of companies like this one. read more

Ended up smashing a deer head on, which practically destroyed the front of my car and made it look like an accordion. My insurance company recommended this auto body shop. When I picked up the car, it was in the evening and raining. The next morning when I got in it, I could still see remnants of deer blood splatters on my windshield. I took it back up there, and they apologized and said they did a thorough wipe of the glass again. Next day, could still see blood. I gave up. This happened back in 2010. Throughout the 4 years, I have not been in any other accidents or any fender benders. The past year, I've been noticing my front bumper and around my head light are looking more uneven. It feels loose and parts weren't probably put on correctly....But, the car still runs. Guess I shouldn't complain. Should've went to Button Auto body. read more

Absolutely FANTASTIC service all the way! Had my 2012 Challenger SXT Plus at O'Fallon, Missouri Schaefer for moderate hail damage. Quite a few pings, but no glass damage repair or repaint necessary. No stars lower. Set up to drop off our vehicle earlier in week, went into drop it off same guy who did our estimate didnt know anything about us dropping it off. We even had appointment, no paperwork had to print it off. We were told rental car would be there, didnt happen. Same guy who did our estimate contacted us yesterday to confirm us coming and now didnt know anything....guess corn rows were to tight and his sagging pants smdh. So we left. I will start with the positive. The people were nice enough. The negative - it took them 4 days to get me a quote. I actually had to call for the quote 2 times to get it emailed to me. The worst part of the whole experience is that they had my car for 23 days - for a bumper!! Something broke in the shop and it added another week onto the repairs. I asked why they didn't ship it to another location and they said because of the mileage. The car looks fine - but almost a month in the shop is way too long. read more

I am never disappointed with Schaefer Autobody Centers. I have had to use them several times now and my car always looks great when they are done with it. They are the essence of quality! I only wish they could do smaller jobs at a better price. I priced a rocker panel I needed painted. I only needed it painted nothing more. I was even willing to take it off of the car and put it back on the car and they gave me a price of over $920.00 to fix a few small scratches. read more

Schaefer did a good job on my car, but I was told that it would be a 3-day repair. While I realize that it may take longer when they actually get into the repair, I wasn't expecting not to have my vehicle for two weeks! The communication was lacking by front staff to let me know the status of my vehicle. An email a day would have worked for me. I truly believe this shop is just too busy. read more

Terrible place!!! I wish I would have never take my car here to get worked on after it was hit. They fixed the door but I had to take it back to get the bubbles out of the paint. Now a year and half later the paint is chipping. However, they say it's not their fault cause they didn't take the bumper off!!! However, they did unscrew the bumper so the manager admitted. Took the car to elco and they said that the bumper was put on too tight which caused the paint to chip of when I washed the car. I will never go to this auto-body shop again. P.S. Only gave one star because I couldn't post the review unless doing so, other wise I wouldn't have left one!!!!!!! read more

I would love to commend the O'Fallon Missouri store on their customer service! I am a nurse for the BJC system and treated an elderly patient today that had been in an accident over the weekend. She went to Schaefer to have her car repaired and was given a rental. Unfortunately she left her handicapped placard in her car. I called the shop to make them aware and an employee there offered to drive her placard to the clinic where she was being treated so she didn't have to drive back to the shop this evening. I brought my 2015 Toyota Sienna Van to Schaefer Auto Body at the recommendation of my insurance carrier, USAA, after backing into a trucks trailer hitch tearing up the rear tailgate and breaking the rear window. When I picked the van up, after it was repaired, I was very impressed with how the rear outside of the van looked. I should have looked closer at the inside of the van. The inside of the van still had a lot of the broken glass from the previous broken window on the floor requiring a vacuum cleaner, plastic side panels had dirty hand prints and rub marks requiring 409 and there were hand prints and dust on the inside of the new tailgate window requiring Windex. The lady in customer service was extremely nice but Schaefer's quality control procedures need to be reviewed. read more

after spending almost five thousand dollars on repairs they charged me three hundred dollars to replace a brake line only to find out later that they only cut a three inch piece out of a rusted brake line. I will make sure all my friends post it. read more
