It does not have all the information we discussed written on the quote. 1/15/25 I emailed him my request to add the following on the quote: 1. location of indoor units and outdoor condenser. 2. Got an appointment for their first available appointment available which was a blessing, as I was never one of their customers before. The technicians were right on time and diagnosed the issue quickly! It was nothing to do with my HVAC, my unit was running accordingly. I cannot say enough good things about Schaef Air and their Service Tech, Gage. As a mortgage broker, it's so important for me to have reputable service providers who I can refer clients to. Our furnace went out last winter. Three different companies came out to look at it. A handyman, another small business HVAC specialist and Service Champions. All three were unable to repair it and said I would need a new unit. That was not an option for us at the time, so we got through winter with heated blankets and space heaters. After almost 6 months of talking with them I still don't have a new AC. I want a refund since this company cannot be trusted to honor their warranty or do future repairs in a timely manner. I got a unit from them an Amana System. The same one they have advertised in Laguna Woods Newspaper, they paid the taxes, $2189.00 total. They have a couple of their employees bring over the unit, and removed the old unit. I had a problem with mine my Voltage was wrong for the unit , in all Laguna Houses had new Voltage units put in, regulating 220 Voltage. The Unit is a 110 Voltage, so I had outside Electrician to change the system to match with the The Heater. Electrician put a new Breaker into Electrical Plug that produces 110 Voltage, now my Amana Unit now works, for two months I had no heat, my old unit completely stop working it's over 20 years old. My folks bought this house in 1992, I inherited in 08/2016, it was in the Will. Plus I also inherited all the problems, machines kept falling apart laundry machine stop working , after getting tire of going to outside laundry room, after 2 months, I call a handyman to check out the washing machine, he was here for a 1/2 hour and found out & fix the machine. I'm semi handicap in my legs, I'm single living on $1,000 SS.per month I'm very poor. read more

I believe it was Matthew who came out and explained to me the condition of both. He was so friendly, professional and on time. Had them install a Mitsubishi ductless mini split in my home. Friendly office staff and installers. Took them 2 days to install 5 heads the Compressor, the brunch box and the Kumo cloud. They had to come back 3, 4 weeks later to check the system as it was not working correctly. The repair tech was also vary nice and friendly. The problem was diagnosed and corrected quickly. The Company is truly family-owned. Prices are reasonable. I highly recommend them. My only thing is the office staff is a little show on responding to email and calls. Honestly this company don't even deserve to be given a single star. They came out to my residence for an AC installation. All three installers definitely where under some type of drug. The man that approached me first smelled like marijuana and his coworker had a strong odor of alcohol. Their job was very upsetting. This company is not worth hiring for any type of work. I found Schaef Air on Yelp and asked for a quote on a thru wall heat pump. A person from the company responded quickly and I said I wanted to buy the unit she offered. She said that they would need to get a permit from my HOA and they would send it to me for my signature. Nothing arrived in the mail so a week later I recontacted the person at Schaef Air. She said that it had been mailed out but that she could immediately email me some brochures on the product. Nothing ever came. I never heard from the company again. Subsequently, I bought the unit through Home Depot. Their contractor, Dynamic Air Service did a first class job and my new unit is functioning well. read more

SchaefAir designed and installed a Mitsubishi combination forced air and ductless zone system. The experience from start to finish was excellent. They were as interested as I was in designing the right system and the installation crew was awesome. I knew this would be a difficult job because of the condition and design of my old system and they were excellent: professional and courteous and their work was clean. I had done my research and had high expectation and they actually exceeded them. I would recommend them to anyone. For anyone looking for a similar system, the zone units used were MSZEF wall mounted and MLZKP ceiling mounted units. All zones and the main air handler were connected to WiFi using Kumo Cloud. As long as a dedicated 2.4GHz WiFi network is set up (takes about 5 minutes) it will work well. You may need network extender(s), but it's worth it for this feature and your whole WiFi network will benefit from that anyway. read more

I added a room addition to my condo and I wanted to increase the cooling in the room. I contacted Schaef Air and Dave Schaef said that by increasing the diameter of the ducting that goes into the room addition the room would be cooler. We signed a contract which listed the following as work to be done,"Fabricate and install necessary fittings, enlarge air duct, add one supply air duct to dining area, dedicate new duct to addition and replace seven return air grill. Balance air flow, Start up and check." While Schaef Air completed the work as per the contract, there was no appreciable change in the cooling of the room addition. I asked Schaef Air for a refund of $1,200.00 since the work that his company did didn't work of which they refused to do. read more

Very good experience with mini-split install. Had units installed in 2 bedrooms a couple of years ago by another company, Schaef Air installed for a 3rd bedroom and a large common area. Their bid was in the middle but most importantly they were able to cover all the areas with only 1 outdoor unit with minimal wall intrusion. They relocated one of the older outdoor units to accommodate where I wanted new outdoor unit placed, did a very nice job, better than the original installer who,had placed the unit on a mound. They arrived early, worked fast and left everything in good/clean condition. Good timing because we immediately had a heatwave and my house was super cool. I had my AC/Heating system completely re-done by Schaef Air (SA) a year ago. I had a Carrier Infinity zone system installed. SA was fast, clean and efficient. Its construction and so it did have a hiccup or two but they did a great job and it was a good and fair price. My friend recommended them to me and I so happy he did. The were a very good price and very good job, doesn't get any better than that. Also I love my Carrier zone system they installed. In September 2017 I called this company to send an inspector to check the condition of my heating and air conditioning units prior to moving into my newly purchased condo. I was quoted a reasonable figure. The person who came out arrived on time and spent all of ten minutes doing a cursory check of my systems. Since he reeked of nicotine, I was not dismayed that he spent so little time checking my systems. The amount he charged did not match my quote, but since it was within 10%, and did I say he stank, I paid the fee and sent him on his way. It is highly unlikely Schaef will be asked for a return call. Am I being overly generous with two stars? Hell yes! read more

I called to get an appointment for my air conditioner that was beginning to make a lot of noise. Shaef Air was recommended to me by a friend so I was willing to wait eight days for them to come and service my AC. The evening before, I emailed John a message to confirm that we were expecting them between eight and 9 o'clock in the morning as I was scheduled. I got no reply so I called them the next morning before eight and was told I was not on the schedule and they had no record of the call. My phone record showed I had made a call to there phone number the day we made the appointment and had a 6 minute conversation! The dispatcher said they were going try to get to us serviced that day. It Never Happened. At the end of the day they called saying they could not help me until the following Tuesday, four days away! We were heading into the Labor Day weekend and it was predicted to be the hottest weekend of the year! I pleaded that they would get someone out the next day and they would not accommodate me. I'm very disappointed, and angry because we had a party scheduled that weekend in our home and it was going to be over 100 degrees!!!
