a table with a white tablecloth and wine glasses

Nice place, ok food, nothing exciting. Looks really nice outside from the sidewalk...inside is one large room w scattered tables. The food is new Italian with a lengthy menu. (Too lengthy?) very average. Not sure I'd go out of my way to go back there.

OMG..... where did this place come from. Great atmosphere, the food is definitely Chef inspired and reasonably priced considering it's Darien...... I will definitely comeback to try more options off the menu.

A pleasant place, especially at the bar - the staff is friendly, the wines are good, and the food - surprisingly so (the quality I'd the Italian restaurants in Connecticut is...interesting). The pasta is actually handmade, and the pizza crust refreshingly crisp. Mind you, the pasta can be slightly overdone, but it doesn't actually detract. Now, if the prices were only around 20% lower, I'd be here everyday.

I'm a big fan of this place. Last night was my first night there and I had a great time. The outdoor seating is beautiful, downtown Darien is an adorable town. The lights at night were a romantic addition! Of course it being June.... I went with a rose The food was unique with a few classics. The 'Eggplant Parmigiano' appetizer was great, and I'm glad we tried it; thick cut eggplant with tomato sauce and homemade mozzarella! The blueberry goat cheese on the 'Tri Colore salad' was gorgeous, and I liked that they didn't skimp on the pine nuts. I also really enjoyed the 'Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes Cobb Salad'! The cakes were amazing! Don't miss the 'shrimp a la linda' idk who Linda is.... but she knows how to cook up a shrimp! For dinner my favorite was the pan seared duck breast! The duck was perfectly cooked and I appreciated the contrast of flavor. The veal chop was HUGE! I loved the crispy and buttery chop with the fresh arugula salad on top. We also grabbed a few pizzas! Again a winner with arugula on top mushrooms or prosciutto If you aren't into dinner and you are just wanting a cheeseboard and a glass of wine for a quick stop, this cheese and charcuterie board is one of better ones I've had in CT, it was beautiful with a good selection of cheeses. I can see myself coming back here often! I would love to see how the specials change with the season!m

Fantastic Cavatelli with octopus and chorizo.

Fantastic experience at Scena this past Friday night. In spite of recent poor reviews, thought we'd give it a try given that we had a one free entree coupon. I must say the whole experience was great. Service was quick informative, and professional. Dinner reservation was 6:30, not terribly busy, but lots of staff on hand. Numerous people stopped by our table to ask how everything was. Drink refills were timely, dessert and final check were all presented on time. Meals were great as well, not only in taste and presentation but also in quantity. Brought half of one meal home as leftovers. One notable touch: I'd read the menu online and had my heart set on Cavatelli with octopus and chorizo. Unfortunately this wasn't on the current "in restaurant" menu. Server quickly said he can make this anyways, and seems genuinely glad to do it. It was spectacular with generous portions and a hint of smoke through all ingredients. Pleasantly surprised, and we will gladly be back again, even at full price of dinner for two.

Won't be going back because service was close to nonexistent. Too bad because the food was great.

Amazing. Not a red sauce but a beef stock/almost Marsala base- so yummy and if you love mushrooms this is for you. The Sunday Sauce platter is massive- and has a ton of "meat" and the linguini with clam sauce has real clams in shell. Everyone enjoyed their meal. So yummy! My only negative is the place needs to add some fabric pieces to absorb noise as even the wait staff had trouble hearing us. Other than that, the food is amazing.

Sometimes your server can ruin the experience and that's what happened. Our server was rude, and scolded us multiple times. A drink that I had sitting at the bar I was not able to have at the table, even though it was on the happy hour menu. She said they couldn't do anything custom. I was just removing the spice from the mango margarita. OK. The waitress was nasty with several people at the table, and it became apparent that she was trying to pad the bill. She would criticize what we ordered and say we needed a lot more than that. She scolded several people or talked down in a rude fashion. She would disappear without checking on the table. We had to chase down people to find out what happened to some of the cocktails. Hmmm... I think I will opt for the polite bartender who made a fabulous drink and stay at the bar next time.

The menu is some what tied into the Puglia region, which is the heel of the boot. I could tell the italian dialect from the owner when he was speaking to one of the staff, it immediately gave me a good feeling that this restaurant would be really good. The appetizers we had were all really good, we had the fried calamari, the grilled Octopusss, the fried zucchini flowers and thd hummus special. Sorry no pics of these. We had a couple of the Orrechiette Barese, Chicken parmigiana, a pasta special of fettuccine with shrimp in a cream and pesto sauce, another pasta with cavatelli, shrimp and cream and pesto sauce, really couldn't see the pesto, probably could have used a little more or maybe a little finishing with the pesto on top. Service was good and the owner came around to introduce himself and we got a complimentary round of their homemade creama di limencello to finish off the experience. Wr wouldn't hesitate to go again the next time we are in town to see a show.

Lots of gluten-free choices, and very accommodating. The light, crispy gluten free sticks of mutz (Beaded and Fried Mozzarella Sticks served with Marinara Sauce ) were the best I've ever had. Although I took half of the generous portion of orecchiette alla barese (Sausage, Broccoli Rabe, Garlic Oil Sauce ) home. They wound up being eaten for a late night desert. I guess it makes sense to pair fine food with fine wines.

The low light ambiance and music was definitely giving adults-only vibes. What I really liked was being able to talk and hear because the volume level of the music was just right. Our waiter was attentive and would check-in on us from time to time, ensuring our experience was the best. He had quite a friendly and genuine demeanor about him (sorry, I don't remember his name but he wore glasses and had dark hair). The margarita pizza, wine, and desserts (didn't have lava cake so I tried their chocolate mousse) were delightful to indulge. We also received a complimentary drink of choice on the house just because! I will definitely be coming back again and hope to bring other colleagues along for the Quartiere experience.

We started with some mocktails that were very good and the apple & pear salad that was also good. Our waitress also brought us some complimentary bread and herb butter. All good. But when my entree came it was so disappointing. I ordered the hanger steak cook medium. It was cooked to temp but had to be the chewiest steak Ive ever had. The steak knife wouldnt even cut through it. The knife basically ripped the steak apart. It also came with the largest broccolini I have ever seen. It was basically broccoli but ultimately was under cooked for how large the stalks were. I did try the desserts but they looked good.
