Ski lodge vibe in Folsom? That Tahoe experience is closer than you'd think!…read more Located in a former escape room, Yager Lodge is more a place where you'll want to escape to instead of the other way around. Not so obvious from the entrance on Sutter Street, one descends from the street level down the "loft" to the underground bar, where suddenly you're in an exclusive speakeasy that feels like vacation. Emily, the General Manager, has roots in Allora and Mikuni, two places where the lost art of guest service is the highest priority. She's passionate about hospitality and says that people keep telling her she reminds them of their favorite bar manager from [fill in the blank]...come in and see who she reminds you of! The drink list is hardcover book-bound (cool!), with a past, present and future theme fitting for historic Folsom, featuring libations from classics to cutting edge. Time travel from the Filthy Martini (circa 1901, great if you love bleu cheese) all the way to S'mores in Jalisco (circa RIGHT NOW)! The S'mores cocktails (yes, there's more than one) are literally FIRE; they're topped with flaming marshmallows. So fun, with Halloween coming up it's ghost stories around the mini-campfire. The menu focuses on appetizers, with the Jalapeno Poppers holding a solid spot as their own unique Thing, a whipped masa creation that you can't find anywhere else. The upscale steakhouse food menu isn't your standard boring bar munchies, either...but it's really about the ambience and service. *Brunch Saturdays and Sundays starting at 10:00 AM* And speaking of pop-ups - heads-up, closed on Tuesdays through October in prep for exclusive events (Follow on Instagram!). The BIG multi-level venue takes days to decorate and no doubt will be decked out in awesome style!

My friend and I were excited to check out this lounge after seeing it highly recommended on IG as a…read morefun lively spot. We came in on a Saturday night and were seated in the back room. Unfortunately, the vibe back here felt a little too quiet and a bit lonely. We found ourselves dining among an older crowd and the energy just didn't feel quite like advertised. The food menu did not have many interesting items to choose from. My cheeseburger was unfortunately way too salty and overcooked. The drinks were pretty good, but were only filled just about 3/4 of the way which was kind of disappointing. We enjoyed the cabin like decor and cozy atmosphere. On our way out, we realized we probably should've asked to be seated at the bar or in the main lounge area. That space looked much livelier and seemed to have the energy we were hoping for. We might give this place another try just to experience it from the bar lounge area next time.

If you're looking for a true speakeasy experience in Folsom, this is it. The only spot in town that…read morereally captures that intimate, dimly lit ambiance with elevated cocktails and a tucked-away vibe that makes it feel special. It's cozy, moody, and perfect for date night or catching up with friends -- the kind of place where you actually want to linger. Troy is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his craft. Half the time I don't even know what I'm in the mood for, so I'll just ask for a dealer's choice and let him surprise me. Somehow, he nails it every single time with something creative, balanced, and genuinely delicious. It's my favorite way to try something new without overthinking the menu. If you appreciate well-crafted cocktails and bartenders who truly know their spirits, this spot is a must in Folsom.

Do not book unless you want to risk your reservation being cancelled…read more On August 20, I reserved a table for Sept. 19. I attempted to reserve the table earlier, but August 20 was the earliest it would let me book out. I had been planning my fiancée's birthday celebration for over month. I planned the whole celebration around this speakeasy and was so excited to end the night celebrating here; hence why I made sure to book everything far in advance. TWO DAYS before my reservation, I get a text saying "Sorry for any inconvenience" but my reservation has to be rescheduled/cancelled because the speakeasy had been privately booked. I then receive a follow-up text from them saying to "please note that their website says reservations are subject to change." Here's a note for your business.... Maybe don't accept private bookings the week of. Give general customers more than two days notice that their reservation has to be moved. Now I am scrambling to come up with new birthday plans two days before my fiancée's birthday, even though I planned this all a month ago. Again, I was so excited to try this place out, but now I would truly never recommend this place.

The staff are generally friendly, but sometimes they can be standoffish or flat out ignore you. In the back, there's a lovely outdoor space. They have cornhole and some tables available to sit at on the bottom floor. On the top floor, there's some tables (no chairs) and a mini bar. In the front, they have a patio with some seating and tables. A lot of people like to smoke there. The line to get in can be long, so the earlier you get there, the better. The cover ($15-$20) is a bit overpriced in my opinion. In the middle, you have a small stage, a dancefloor, and a full bar. There's only 2 restrooms available, so you'll usually see a line forming for that. Note: I would recommend dancing on the stage if you want to do line dances. Be forewarned, there will be rude and inconsiderate individuals who will 1) walk through the stage when you're in the middle of a dance and/or 2) try to stand in the middle or corner of the stage and be in the way. Whether you're on the stage or the dancefloor, there will be drunk people constantly stumbling around you. It gets pretty crowded after 10:30/11. Parking can be difficult, but there are lots and street parking around.

There was plenty of seating on the shady patio, but it was really hot outside, so we opted to wait for a table inside. We had a drink and watched the NBA finals on the TVs (there was no sound so it wasn't noisy). I tried the Mustang Sally cocktail and it was well balanced and delicious! We were seated for dinner pretty quickly. The only problem I had was deciding what to order. The luau shrimp salad? Meatball sub? I finally decided on the lobster mac and cheese. While the portion wasn't large, it was delicious! Creamy and mild with fresh lobster (not fishy) and garlicy breadcrumbs. My husband got the ribeye and was thin but large with great seasoning and veggies. I'm not a big steak fan but I really liked it. We ended up grabbing some beignets to go for the kids, which were really tasty and came with 3 dipping sauces (our favorite was the Berry, although we ended up eating most of them without sauce). The atmosphere was upscale, but very casual, quiet and fun. We saw families with young children, couples on dates, and friends enjoying a meal together. It was the perfect vibe that we were looking for, comfortable, but classy. And the food was high-quality and tasty. We will definitely be back!

Upon entering, the hostess with the brown curly hair was noticeably rude and unwelcoming, which isn't the first impression you'd hope for when celebrating a special occasion. The food, however, was outstanding and was definitely the highlight of the evening. Every dish we ordered was well-prepared and delicious. Service was a mixed experience. While our server was polite, the service was quite slow throughout the meal, despite the restaurant being fairly empty at the time. Overall, the excellent food helped make up for some of the service issues, but the rude greeting and slow service took away from what should have been a memorable anniversary dinner. I hope management addresses these concerns, as the kitchen is clearly doing a great job.
