Scarlet's Saloon / Powerhouse Pub is one of my friend's and I's go to spots for a fun night out. It's a spacious bar with multiple rooms for whatever you're feeling! There's three rooms/bar areas that each play different music and have a different vibe going on. The cover is typically $20 and they do have an atm on site you can use. One of the bars is cash only the others take card. Usually my friends and I go to the zombie room because the bartender there is super nice and makes really yummy fruity drinks. This room has tons of neon paint and funky decor, it's also where they have live music playing and an upstairs area you can sit in. The other areas are indoor/outdoor and they have seats outside on the front and back patio you can sit and smoke at. Depending on a lot of factors you might love it or might not. There's a big mix of people you'll meet here and there are some interesting individuals you'll meet. For the most part the music is decent, lots of space to dance, good drinks, and you can definitely make it more fun with a great group of people. read more

Adore Scarlet's! When I lived in Orangevale, I went here often. I love the fact it has multiple bars with different drinks and themes. I personally go to the Zombie bar because the bartender always makes me the best fruity cocktails. I also like that there are various genres of music so you can choose to move around and hear different genres. It can feel a little dirty, but half of the bar is outside so that makes it more difficult to keep clean. Absolutely horrible experience! I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone. I went here on 8/31 and ordered two vodka sodas, total was $26. I gave the male bartender $40 in cash, and he NEVER gave me my $14 change. I waited about 10 minutes, confused, and then told my friend. When she confronted him, his response was, "she is drunk," and then he poured me a "free shot" instead of returning my money. This man stole $14 from me--and I want it refunded immediately. He probably does this every night with people paying cash who he assumes are "too drunk" to notice. Management, please review the cameras on the Scarlett's side from that night and contact me directly. I would not recommend this place at all. To say that I love this place is an understatement. I LOVE this place because this is a place that cares about their customers. I lost my Apple Watch here for 2 days and when I went to collect it at 10pm on a Tuesday they had it there safe and sound for me. My friend and I had a fantastic time at their New Years event and the life bands are INCREDIBLE. I highly recommend this place for a great experience of partying and dancing! Special notes: Wear closed Toe Shoes! Bring cash! (But they have ATMS) Be nice to the bar tenders, they're very kind. They only have 2 bathrooms -prepare accordingly If you have questions go in person to ask because their phone lines are pretty busy. 10/10 read more

This place has such a fun vibe! Neon lights everywhere, including the light up dance floor. Our group got there before they had a cover charge so there weren't a ton of people, but it's one of the few places we went to that had A/C. Our drinks weren't super fancy, but we enjoyed them. read more

I've been coming here for over 10 years. Joel quickly became my favorite bartender and takes amazing care of me. A friends' husband works security here (Jesse). There's another security guard with a beard and stash whose name I don't remember but he's great as well. There is a newer male bartender with glasses whom I've had two bad interactions with. I was asking to buy a bottle of Vueve and he responded with "This is a bar! Does it look like we have food here?" I let Joel know since he's also the manager. Clearly if anything was said to him it didn't stick bc the next time I went in and he was the only bartender not in training he was very rude to myself and my date. We even said we wanted to be served by the blonde trainee in an effort to not have to deal with him. He either hates women and/or the LGBTQIA+ community as well. Wonder if he's why so many people say this place is homophobic now? He's definitely made me think twice if I want to go there or not. Scarlett's has already had to cut back their days open. Can you really afford to lose what customers you have left because you allow an employee to mistreat regulars? read more

Thursday night. Not terribly busy by a long stretch. Bartender continually skips over me. I wait forever while I'm skipped over despite trying to be assertive. Eventually, I leave to the next bar over because I've waited so long in a very *not* crowded bar. Later in the night, I go back to the bar because there's no one there. The bartender proceeds to poor me a drink with a SPLASH of actual alcohol. I know what you're thinking: Clearly, you were very drunk and he was trying to be covertly responsible. I assure you, I was/am *extremely* not drunk. Charged me full price for a literal splash of tequila. Maybe he read my frustration (I said nothing) previously while waiting for a drink. Idk. But it's been a shitty experience. It's not remotely crowded enough for this level of service, and I am the most patient, good-natured customer usually. One of the bartenders was good tho. Stop in at Scarlet's when you're night walking on Sutter street. It's a compact bar but lots of fun and a great place to nurse a beer. Later in the evening, the music comes up and it becomes night club; dance floor, DJ and all. The blonde manager was told by the surrounding bar WE were "too much trouble" to enter. However, we never went the bar they claimed we came from "The hotel". We had a staff member come from "The hotel" come with us to Scarlet's entrance (as seen in photos) to explain we were the "wrongly identified" "from the trouble makers", but the "ridiculously rude" blonde manager took a look at us, and said "they" aren't welcome. I grew up in Folsom and my 21st bday was at Scarlet's and I've never experienced prejudice/ignorance like this before. I looked at the bouncer in disbelief. (Which whom is displayed in the 2nd photo with the beard) then he just laughed at the manger's response! Which then my remark was "FINE, we don't need to spend our money here anyways!" I have been going to Scarletts for the past 4 years but I haven't been back since Winter 2021. I debated on posting but feel something needs to be said to warn others not to go. I don't know what happened it used to be great, maybe a change of staff? In just one night here is what happened... 2 of my friends were roofied, 1 ended up in the hospital. When we were leaving the bar, walking down the ramp, one of my friends was pretty intoxicated so she was moving at a slower pace then if she were sober, but we were moving, you could tell we were leaving. Well, the bouncers decided we weren't moving fast enough and decided to start pushing my very intoxicated friend, which after a few pushes led her to falling on the ground. My fiancé at this point stepped in because they never should have pushed her in the first place. Well, 4 bouncers jumped on my fiance and weren't just holding him down, they were ALL punching him. When I tried to pull the bouncers off I got punched and shoved to the ground by the bouncers. The bouncers should be there to make sure everyone is safe but instead they did the exact opposite. Most diverse bar/nightclub on Sutter Street. They always have a live Dj playing the best hip hop music, the dance floor is always packed (in a good way) and Joel and Omar are literally the best bartenders ever (they make so many fun drinks). Went on Thursday to listen and West Coast Swing, WCS dance to the Deanoholics, http://dean-o-holics.com/ So much fun and I got a pic with Marilyn Martini. The music was a bit too fast for WCS, more ECS tempo but we found some to dance to. There were freestyle dancers and other partner dancers. Ages were 30-60 yo, I think because of the band. Well behaved crowd, avail seats on the Patio. Since it was ladies night, there were free giveaways like some bath gift baskets, pair of jeans, restaurant coupon. My friend Keli won the bath basket. Arrived around 8:15pm and didn't have to pay a cover charge. Parking wasn't too bad. Not much seating but velvet covered bar stools at the bar and outside patio. Dancefloor is small, linoleum covered cement, not too sticky. You share the dance floor with the band, singers and bar. The outside patio is awesome, they open all the doors to the dancefloor and bar they have ceiling fans to cool the night air. Even though there were ashtrays on the patio tables, thankfully no one smoked but people smoked outside of the Powerhouse. I'm new to the nightlife in Folsom, so when some friends suggested this place, I wasn't expecting too much. Crowd is on the older side. We went after 11PM so cover to get into this place as well as The Powerhouse was $15. They accept cash only so make sure you come prepared. If not, they have an ATM on site a little in the back of the building. Just ask. If you just want to stay at Scarlet's, it's only $10 to get in. FYI, Powerhouse and Scarlet's share the same building just separated by a hallway with guys guarding the entrances. Went on a Saturday night. It was crowded but not packed to the point of not being able to move. Music selection at Scarlet's was awesome. They had hip hop, Top 40s, and a touch of old school. Really great if you want to dance. There is no "dancefloor," but people were anyway. I couldn't help NOT dancing. Down the hall, Powerhouse had a live band playing. I have been to Scarlet's a lot ... I was a Folsom resident for about 4 years and still live pretty close. I went there a few months ago with coworkers (I was desi that night) and sat up at the bar. It was pretty packed and this poor girl behind me wanted a drink and had been waiting what seemed like an hour, prob more like 20 min though. I called out her drink and let her slide in. Then when she got her drink I asked the bartender if I could get a water and he told me no because I had ordered for that girl. I told him the situation and that I was helping some random chick I didn't know and just wanted water. He told me to F myself. I have never left a zero tip. EVER. I am a bartender and feel like it is hard to please everyone but we try as hard as we can and bust ass on a regular basis. But this time this dude crossed the line. I would never tell my customers to f themselves. So, this time the zero tip had to be done. I left him a zero tip and made sure to let everyone I know in Folsom hear about my experience with this specific bartender. I will never go back to see if he is still employed there. So if we went by Mari C's review of this place, right off you would know that either I'm a douche or a cougar. (What??! Well, go read her review and then you will know.) Before I let the "cat" out of the "bag" (wow, this cougar/douche thing is really working out so far -- thanks Mari!) let me say that both really have their pluses. It will be a hard call. Nothing negative happened at all at this bar, though and, in fact, quite the opposite. My friend (a guy) and I were there having drinks - go figure, right - and had only been standing for only a couple of seconds when two guys immediately got up and gave us their chairs. Douchey? Not really. They were entertaining a couple of blond bombshells who were quite intoxicated and quite showing their age - which couldn't have been more than 21. So .... cougars? Nah. An observation I have of Scarlet is that its clientele is a spillover from its adjoined neighbor, the Powerhouse Pub, at least in terms of the wide range of ages. Being someone who is neither 25 anymore nor very many years older than 25, I dig the age discrepancy. Hmmm, do I smell a cat? Other things I liked about this place is the nice outdoor, Sutter Street/Bidwell Street facing patio, the fan-within-a-fan hanging from the ceiling, colorful lights, a huge liquor selection and really cool, friendly wait staff. I did have to wait a long time at the bar for my drink ... and it wasn't totally slammed or anything, but that is just my luck. I have always been very horrible about getting the bartender's attention. Anyway, so what am I? Cougar or Douche. Well, considering Mari's review ... and the fact I did not see any other cougars or douches at Scarlets when I went (maybe it's off season?) ... I must conclude that I am both Cougar and Douche!!! They always have a cover charge ranging from $10-$20 and drinks start at $8 and aren't even that great. It's a cool place I guess but a rip off considering it's a bar in Folsom that has a cover charge and charge too much for their mediocre drinks. You'd be better off going to Sac and bar hoping at places with no cover fee and drinks priced the same or sometimes even cheaper that are better quality. Also all the bouncers/security guards here are rude. Sac is the way to go. read more

This bar is fun on the weekend and for happy hour (they have uber affordable cocktail specials). You get access to powerhouse pub from the strip and can order food from Chicago Fire next door. Enjoy seating indoors in their dimly lit main bar or outside under heat lamps and watch people walk the main drag. You'll definitely be able to hear the music from Powerhouse without losing your hearing. This is a great place for an intimate date (you're sure to meet some crazy characters to liven your night) or a group setting. One downside, I struggle to know when they are open or not. Did you know you can order pizza to be delivered from Chicago Fire to Scarlet's? Yes, it's true and fantastic if you arrive craving pizza and the place is packed or if you want to sit outside and the area is fulll. Scarlet's has a phone to call in and place your order and a menu for Chicago Fire too. It's actually quicker to do this than go to the restaurant. It's a much more chill date spot, where you can sip on beer along the long bar inside or on one of the smaller tables on the patio. Their view is also better than Chicago Fire! Word on the street (that is, Sutter Street), is that this is the place for the "older crowd"... This apparently means anybody over 25. Still, once the DJ started playing "Whoop, there it is!" and literally EVERYBODY on the dancefloor started singing along? Yeah, love ya '90's kids, but I... gotta go... Met a couple of nice chicks here, smoking waaaaay too many cigarettes (I fully blame you, Chester), but the patio out there is very nice with an excellent view of that big intersection of Riley and Sutter; pretty small dancefloor, but a lot of older folks who don't give a fuh, and are probably worse than you, so away self-conscious demons! I'm not sure a handstamp from here will always get you in Powerhouse nextdoor necessarily... but it's pretty easy to sneak in via the bathroom hallway. Just keep an eye out for security guards and don't act stupid. :P If you're in Folsom and barhopping, this isn't a half-bad stop to hit, all those straight working-class singles just wear thing on me after a bit... no offense. read more

Okay, update time. I went for a quietish drink in the hopes of sitting outside on the cool patio. The bartenders inside Scarlet's were very nice. Murray, the owner, also very nice. Hanging out, outside, was great! Good bartenders are intuitive. They read you, match your vibes, validate the lonely, party hard with the wild ones & therefore rake in tips, right? One bartender at the Powerhouse was clearly intuitive & was broadcasting his thoughts like a drive in movie. Unless he found you attractive, he was kind of a dick. Survey says he was tired of his job. eesh. Patrons started spilling out onto the patio and the people were ready to party. Most of these stars go toward the novelty of this place. Other than it looking like an old style saloon, it isn't very different from any other Bay Area bar. My blurred memories can only take me so far -- I remember dancing to pretty decent music and taking shots with a bunch of red necks and some true American boys in cowboy hats. Friday night they had a DJ playing decent music but barely anyone was dancing, and the few that were looked like they were listening to their own ipod cuz it didn't look like they were dancing to the music the DJ was playing. Freakin Funky Fun. This place is tiny, but jam packed with atmosphere, friendliness, and good time. The downside is that service is slow no matter how crowded they are (or not). It's like the bartenders are given a dating manual that says, "The longer you make them wait, the more they'll want you. Don't serve them right away." News flash: Not all guys are like that. Anyway, the music is always fun, Hard to believe how many people they can get on the dance floor. The place flows out onto the patio, which comfortable and great for talking 1-1 or in groups. Unfortunately, this did not go well and my friend Jessica was not the first but the second Jessica to get into a physical altercation.
