The filet was drowned in a wine reduction. Literally served in a soup bowl of liquid. Why?? Why do this to what should be perfectly good meat unless you are hiding something like old or not top grade filet? The potatoes had a really strange flavor to them. Odd. Like they were made with expired or sour milk. The spinach was soaked and so limp in the filet sauce. No. Just no.my fault. I just wanted a. Nice filet mignon. So glad we chose to visit this place while on the Cape. The tiny greenhouses on the patio are so ingenious, with the space heaters for added warmth, made a chilly March afternoon a delight! The hostess seated is promptly, and our waitress checked on us right away. We started with the spinach & artichoke dip, which had chunks of artichoke, and was very tasty. I had the swordfish entre', which was cooked perfectly; could've used a bit more seasoning, but the herb-butter was great. My wife had the buffalo chicken sliders, which had a nice kick, but didn't overwhelm the overall flavor. We've rarely dined out since COVID, and the staff did an excellent job cleaning everything, and facilitating quick service. High praise for our waitress. Would highly recommend. read more

My daughter and I were excited to try this place as vegans. It is generally so hard to find good vegan offerings at restaurants and we were concerned we might not find any options here at the Cape. We were delighted to find the tofu teriyaki power bowl. The fried tofu was cooked well and it was loaded with flavorful, healthy ingredients. My husband also enjoyed his French dip sandwich and fries. Marissa provided excellent and efficient service. Our food came promptly and was hot and delicious! Thank you for a lovely meal! Another overpriced, sub-par Cape restaurant surviving largely on tourists. I had sole piccata. It was pretty much all breading-minimal sole and absolutely no piccata (other than the lemon wedge served on the plate). The mashed potatoes that came with it were cold. The salad was fine. I can't believe we hadn't come here sooner! I love that they have a private parking lot (with a good amount of spaces). When you walk in, you are greeted with rustic/modern beautiful decor and a welcoming ambience. It seems that the dining areas are a bit spread out, some upstairs, some down, and a few broken up rooms that each offer a bit of a different experience. The hostess seated us at a nice, comfy table next to the window. The drink menu was extensive, with lots of crafty cocktail options. We enjoyed our server as well. The espresso martini was amazing! For appetizers, we tried the Rhode Island Calamari and the Scargo Oysters. Both were yummy, but I preferred the calamari. All of the entrees that our table ordered were also good. The lobster roll was full of awesome chunks, full claws, and just a tiny bit of mayo. You could really taste the lobster which I liked. The men ordered the Reuben and were both impressed. Ate dinner here with my mother in law Friday... early dinner given she is older and we went on a nice long walk to work up an appetite. She was waiting for the swordfish which has a great reputation as being one of the best. It did not disappoint. I on the other hand ordered the pistachio Scrod that was presented on top of a Gouda risotto. So it was a very white on white dish. There was little crust given it said "encrusted" and would call it a dusting of crumbs and maybe a fleck of pistachio. The fish was fresh and tender. The risotto was bland and watery. They brought me parmesan risotto after I mentioned this, although it was merely a tad better. Also there is no vegetable offered with this dish. So it's safe to say I wouldn't order the Scrod or a risotto. Get the swordfish. read more

One of the best meals I have ever had on Cape Cod. Meal was so good we went back the next night. Knowledgeable staff, friendly and efficient. First night we had Jon. Helped us make our selections with recommendations. 2 nd night our waitress was Coral. Couldn't make up our minds. Asked what she would recommend. Funny, none of them were what caught our eye. Based on her recommendation my wife had pork chop, I had the flounder. Turned out, she knew what she was talking about. This is our new favorite restaurant. Had a casual lunch here in Sept. I had a Cobb salad and hubs had a fish sandwich. Our young male server was really nice as well as refined and intelligent, and he gave us some good info on local beaches. Food was executed with great care and was excellent. We went for an early lunch at Scargo Cafe and sat in the tavern which we found quite relaxing. My wife and I each had a drink before lunch and for our meals she had a Reuben and I had the sirloin sandwich special. Both were excellent and the capuccino we ended with was also excellent. Went here as a suggestion by my brother for my birthday in March and I'm so glad he said it! I had a lovely shrimp dish. The waitress happily swapped the pasta for potatoes which was greatly appreciated. It wasn't one of the restaurants I regularly thought of when trying to decide where to go out but that all changed after this experience. Will definitely be recommending this to local friends and hoping the tourists don't take over too much so I can enjoy it again this summer! read more

Scargo is an institution on route 6A. It is always incredibly busy, even in the off season. Plan to have a really long wait unless you arrive very early. Just rolled into town, tired and hungry looking for seafood that isn't a salted batter eat. Thank you, Yelp! Nailed it! The web site says they only accept reservations for half their tables, to encourage walk ins. Enlightened policy. We were seated at once, without a reservation. The decor eschews lobster buoys and conch shells. More like a Board Room, with walnut paneling and leather upholstery. Service is precise, efficient and friendly. This is all very nice, but we came to eat. Check out the menu for yourself. Over a dozen appetizers to choose from, all of which sound delicious. The entrees span steak frites to cod roulade. And there are also daily specials. My partner had the seafood strudel - a pastry filled with bubblicious crabmeat and scallop Newburgh, topped with gambas that will stimulate your limbic system. I had a swordfish steak that was grilled perfectly and dressed with a salacious buttery patty that dissolved into every cranny while I watched, mesmerized. Well if you check in with Yelp you get the Sweet Potato poppers free and that is a perfect way to start this meal. Tenderly cooked slice sweet potato chips accompanied with a tantalizing honey mustard dipping sauce. I lapped up every bit with that last chip. Being the native seafood lover I am I selected the Seafood Strudel. Unique name for fresh crab, shrimp and scallops in a puff pastry with a creamy Newburg sauce. We wanted to try someplace new, and stopped in for dinner on our last night on the Cape. We started with a half dozen local oysters on the half shell and an order of boneless Buffalo wings. Both were really good! My husband and I each had a drink with dinner, my husband a local NE IPA and I had an espresso martini. Both were great choices! For dinner, my husband had flounder, my son the crispy scallops, and I had the lobster and sweet pea risotto. Dinner was outstanding! The best part of our dining experience was our server Sean. Very friendly, accommodating, personable, and fun (I spilled my martini even after being warned that the top of the cocktail shaker comes off, which made for a good joke.) Last night nine of us had a "cousins and partners" reunion of sorts at scargo cafe in dennis. Reservations were made a month in advance. Total success on all counts. Our reservation was honored pretty quickly (second seating of the night, so we knew it might not be exact and we were happy to settle in the bar for a small bit), a great table in the far room, plenty of space for all, and not at all on top of others. Our server Hannah was fabulous, cheerful and helpful. One of the party has very severe food restrictions and she helped to figure out that a filet and asparagus cooked in particular fashion would suit. Most of us had wine, some drinks, but honestly I didn't pay attention to what. Wines were very reasonably priced and a good pour. Among the group we had the crispy tofu bowl with brown rice,, sweet potato etc and teriyaki sauce; fish sandwich; seafood chowder; seafood strudel; filet with goat cheese and spinach; cod roulade with broccoli and bacon cake; swordfish with jasmine rice and asparagus; and the special lamb shank with polenta and candied carrots. Unusually for this group, desserts were also ordered - cheesecake, ice cream sundae, mango sorbet, and I believe some apple creation. Everyone enjoyed their meal, tho will say the seafood strudel did not get the rave review one often sees here (less seafood than anticipated). The power tofu bowl, however, got rave reviews, as did the swordfish. All agreed that prices were fair and reasonable. They happily gave separate checks for those who wanted them. Friendly bar and restaurant full of lots of locals. We were there during March so it wasn't extremely crowded. We were able to get 6 seats together at the bar and the bartender was very patient with our group while we tried to maneuver around for seating. I had the bolognese which was delicious and very heavy on the meat and sauce. The garlic bread that came with it had a bit too much butter on it but other than that the meal was great. Others in our group had short rib, burgers and swordfish and all thought their meals were very good. read more

The greenhouse's are super cool - private and enclosed, and they are really cozy even when it is cold outside! Service was top-notch and everything we ordered was great (kids ate their entire meals!) We came here for dinner during Memorial Day Weekend, around 8pm. Although we had a reservation, we did have to wait a bit to be seated, and the restaurant was pretty full (seemed very popular with the 60+ crowd). We ordered the shrimp scampi flatbread and the sweet potato dippers to start. The flatbread was good, although very simple, and I wish it were more flavorful. The sweet potato fries were hot and crunchy -- not a fan of the honey mustard sauce they were paired with though. Highlight was definitely the free bread, which was amazing! For my main, I got the potato crusted scrod, which was a white fish served in a rich corn and bacon chowder. This was really good - definitely exceeded my expectations. As a whole, the meal was satisfying, but nothing that's going to haunt your dreams. read more
