I had decided to splurge and get my honey the pillows of his dreams so I went to Scandia. The problem is the customer service here is horrific. You would think that for a company who sells such high end items they would treat customers with a bit more respect and live up to what they promise. Our experience has been so horrible I will never go there again and would tell anyone who considers it to run for the hills.
I went to the store and was waited on my a woman name Nikki. She was super friendly, took time to show me the different pillow options and explain the range in pillows. I had narrowed it down to the type of pillow I wanted I just was not sure about the firmness. I explained that my boyfriend like very soft pillows so I was not sure if I should get the super soft, she called them pancake, or the next ones up. She said almost nobody got the pancake ones but I thought the next ones up were still too firm. She came up with the following plan. She said, that if I bought two of each firmness and then also paid an additional fee to buy pillow protectors, then we could try them out and just bring back the ones we did not like and swap them for the ones we did. Since we were buying these extra pillow protectors, she said that the pillows could be totally exchanged without any issue. I had said that maybe I should just bring him in with me to pick them and she said no, that this plan would be fine.
She rung me up, took all my info and said that it would be in the computer so when he decided which ones he liked, he could come in and would not need the receipt. Keep in mind that these 4 pillows were costing $1000, and this was on sale!!!! So this was not a purchase you would make if you had any hesitation that the exchange would be an issue.
I gave him the pillows for Christmas. He immediately decided that the super soft ones were the ones he wanted. He never used the firmer ones at all. The entire time I kept reminding him they needed to stay in the protectors as well so we could return them.
I was out of town when he decided to take the two firm pillows in to do the swap. He said that from the second that he walked into the store with a bag, the woman who approached him was rude, arrogant and treated him as if he was scum of the earth. He then began to tell her that he was there to swap out the pillows and it got worse. First she claimed that there was no record of me at all in the computer, so he needed the receipt. Second she took the pillows out of the bag, held them with two fingers as if they were disgusting, dirty messes. She then began to sniff them, yes, sniff them, and said that they were so soiled that there was no way she could ever take them back. He was so upset at her treatment of him that he got her card, asked for the managers name and left. The woman who helped him was the same woman who sold them to me, Nikki, and the manager was Kim. He left 2 messages for Kim with no returned calls. He also asked for the name of someone in the corporate office, he left her messages as well, again with zero returned calls. He attempted the exchange well within the 30 day window allotted for on the receipt.
When I returned from my trip, and he relayed this story, I thought for sure that he was blowing it out of proportion or something. I looked at the pillows and there are in perfect totally unused condition just as when we bought them. They did not smell or have stains on them as Nikki had told him.
Based on his experience, I decided to go right to the person at corporate that he had tried to reach. Her name was Carla Green. I left her 2 messages and did not get a call back. Everytime I called her office the receptionist was totally rude as well, always asking why I was calling, what I wanted and one time even asked me how I got this number, etc. I called on numerous other occasions and just kept calling until she picked up this time. This was almost 3 weeks after I had begun calling her We had a conversation and she said she knew all about me and and the pillows and immediately treated me with a dismissive attitude. She told me that she had spoken to the store manager, Kim, and was aware of the situation and agreed that we should not be allowed to exchange the pillows. I asked her if she even cared to hear my side of the story and she made a grunting noise and said, oh sure, tell me. She did not care one bit. Kim, had never even seen the pillows by the way, she was not there when the interaction with Nikki took place, they just took her work for it.
Carla then proceeded to tell me that if I wanted to keep pursuing this that I would have to m read more
