I had been looking forward to trying Sazon Tropical for a few weeks because I love Dominican and Puerto Rican food. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing overall. I started with the ham and cheese empanada. The outside was fried perfectly crispy, but the filling was basically chopped lunch meat and cheese. It wasn't terrible, but definitely underwhelming. I'd rate it about a 2/10. Next, I ordered the mofongo with chicharrón. The flavor was extremely garlic-heavy, and it was only served warm instead of hot and fresh. The texture and seasoning just didn't hit for me. I'd give that around a 3/10. The biggest issue was the fried beef. The meat smelled off and tasted spoiled. After eating it, I ended up with a stomach ache later on. That completely ruined the experience for me and honestly made me question the freshness of other items on the menu as well. Would I return? Probably not. I don't mind giving restaurants second chances, but food quality and freshness are non-negotiable for me, especially when spending hard-earned money dining out. read more

Breaks my entire heart to write this. My most recent visit here was a big big disappointment. I ordered yellow rice, plantain, roast pork, and corn bread. I got it to go. On my way home I could smell the pork and it smelled spoiled. Upon arriving home and opening the container the pork smelled rancid, the rice was hard. I threw it out. Its not okay to serve spoiled pork or old sweet plantains mixed in with fresh. Even the cornbread was hard and stale. I threw it out. I dont like wasting my money or food. I've gotten bad pork at least one or two other times. This is not okay. I hope in the future someone is doing quality control. The ladies serving were lovely as usual. read more

The workers here always so kind and patient! I come here specifically for the authentic Dominican dish options. I've gone more than one to order the Dominican breakfast (Tres Golpes) which tastes amazing each time!! They also have some options that caters to the Honduran culture although I haven't tried it. There is a lady there with her hair in a bun (not the owner) and young guy who both work the counters they're both rude as heck. I've seen people walk out because these two always have an attitude. Especially the lady. The food is ok but not always fresh and not worth the bad customer service. I don't recommend coming here at all. The bad attitudes and rudeness to multiple customers including myself is not worth it. There are better restaurants that treat customers better. And if they don't fix this soon they won't have very many more customers. read more

I love to cook my Puerto Rican Cuisine at home. I've tried every location that offers Caribbean cooking. This buy far has been the most authentic and frankly delicious - just as what I would cook my family. I recommend for sure. read more

I've been eyeing this place for the past several months and finally got a chance to stop by on Sunday. Overall, the food was really good and I will visit again. I tried steak with peppers and onions, rice, mashed plantains and regular plantains. The steak was on the dry side, but flavorful. The other sides easily get a 10/10 for me which is crazy because I don't particularly like plantains. Service was good, but I did have to wait awhile for someone to help me who spoke English. Dominican restaurant in Grand Prairie close to all the shopping centers! Service was nice and accommodating. Restaurant serves a hot bar of different proteins and sides. The presentation of the food was a bit inconsistent from the maduros and some other sides. My food was decent. The bistec was on the tougher side instead of tender. I wish it was cooked less. Their pepper sauce is fantastic, definitely order with your meal. My total cost was $20 and change for a tropic bowl with 1 protein and 3 sides, a queso empanada, a bottle of water and a Kola Champagne. Absolutely delicious! Ordered food for delivery after eating once in person. My in person experience had delicious food but it can be a little confusing trying to order as it is unclear how much items cost (it is sort of a hot lunch line) .
