Nice coffee shop in close proximity to LeHigh University in the Southside of Bethlehem. The baristas were friendly and it was a relaxed atmosphere with students and locals. The green tea was very good, and although it was freezing outside, I always lean to an iced beverage. We also got the Chai latte which was very tasty and very spice forward. When I was a student at Lehigh, I came here all the time for coffee because it was across the street from campus and it was a nice place to work sometimes. The staff was always nice and they worked quickly but the coffee wasn't great. I would always order an iced mocha and it came out mostly tasting like milk, and some of their other products were just ok too. read more

I'm glad that the latte I got with oat milk tasted perfect. However this is my first visit so I can't attest to what others say about drink inconsistency. It's a good place to study with your laptop. Good seating without things being so crowded to worry too much about getting your belongings stolen. I will come here again but they did close an hour early today, a Sunday, at 4 pm which is a shame because I chose to come here specifically to study later. Great service at this saxby's! I've been here twice now and my order always come out fast even when it's a bit busy! I really like the cold brew here especially the milk and honey selection. I may be a bit harsh on Saxby's Coffee as I am a bit of a coffee snob but simply put, they don't know their coffee well enough and they don't do a good job with what they have. I ordered one of their cold brews and it just tasted like a watered down mess. They clearly did not have the ratio of ground to water correct or simply did not let it steep for long enough. Also, the barista asked if i wanted room for milk and I said no. However, he left room for milk. I thought he may have misheard me but the coffee was labeled for no room. Also, I had a latte and the espresso shot was just not pulled correctly. No flavor came through at all and it tasted just like a warm milk cup. Really disappointing I must say. One star up for the cleanliness. Great seating arrangement and a cool decor spot. Nevertheless, coffee options are limited in the area and if you don't want the Starbucks brewed coffee in the bookstore, this is your only real option outside the gas station coffee or Dunkin. read more

It isn't that good as people make it out to be. They are very inconsistent when it comes to the quality of their drinks. It all depends on what workers are working and if they are in the mood to provide quality service. Sometimes I am very satisfied with my drinks, other days I feel like I am getting coffee from a 7-Eleven. Got a cold brew this morning and it is probably 80% milk. I just think they should be more consistent especially with the prices on their drinks. Meh, I didn't try the coffee, but I'm sure I'll be back with a more in-depth review of Saxbys' offerings. I had a muffin. I'm not completely sure which kind of muffin since two of the (very friendly) baristas said it could have been one of several flavors. The muffin itself was gigantic, think softball sized. I believe it was in the $2 range. Perfect for kids running here before or after class. It was okay, I wasn't blown away. I've had better and worse muffins. I usually get their cold brew, which is alright (I've definitely have had better but it's one of the better places to get coffee on campus), but recently I've been trying out their lattes. I got an iced hazelnut latte today with half-and-half and it literally was borderline white in color. The barista put so much cream in it and it was so cloyingly sweet. The coffee itself also didn't taste right, it had a slightly "smoke-y" flavor? I feel as in terms of their specialty drinks, they're never consistent amongst the baristas or they simply do not care enough. Saxby's has little tables and music is too loud, people speaking loud. I don't want to study here because I like to study in quiet environment, but I like the decor.  Staff has good attitude, although the barista did not smile, he speaks friendly and detailed ask about your coffee. I drink iced green tea here, this is good drink, but is a little bitter. Went to Saxbys with an entertainment coupon purchased with my Verizon rewards and the manager did not honor it. He claimed he couldn't scan it. I asked that he call the number on the coupon on how to use and he said he could not and would not. Why advertise in the entertainment book if you are not going to honor it? Was very rude to us and really embarrassed us, as if we were doing something wrong. So we cancelled our order for 3 lunches and drinks and walked out. It seems they don't want the business and we will never get coffee from them again. There are many other coffee shops in the area! Come here if you want something specific here, like a Kookie Monster drink that they specifically sell... or if you're desperately in need of a coffee. I've been here many times, and at first glance is a nice college cafe; which it is if you look at it in a different perspective. It's in the center of a college campus and is full of nice college students. Yet, the service here is off. 8 times out of 10 the service here is from a level of not good to down right terrible. I've order an upside down caramel macchiato here before and got the question asked of, "What do you mean upside down?" ... Really guys, you're baristas and you're asking me what upside down means? Not only that, but plenty of times I've come in here and the have gotten very dirty looks from the cashier. Can you at least smile? Pretend you like working there? Do something that doesn't seem like all you want to do is get the hell out? It brings a very negative atmosphere to the place that prevented me from coming back quite a few times. Another issue here is what each employee comes to know. It seems to be different between each employee as I've always gotten the Kookie Monster when I go there and a few times I was just given a coffee blended drink rather than the Kookie Monster. I've also asked for whipped cream multiple times when coming here and several times they ignore the request and not give me any. When I ask sometimes they seem like it's a problem. Lastly, the other day I was here with my boyfriend and it was somewhat busy. I ordered the Kookie Monster drink and waited for my drink for about 10 minutes, not exaggerating the time. We watched countless of other customers who were ahead and behind us when they ordered their drinks and their drinks were made. When I finally said something, thinking they may have just forgotten to put a cup in line for my drink, they forgot about it, even though it was sitting on the counter by the blenders the whole time. After waiting all that time, there was no "Thank you for your time" or "Sorry for the wait" or anything... As you may know after reading this review, I take my Kookie Monster drink seriously, and if I don't know whether or not they'll make it right when I come in to buy a drink, it pisses me off. There are so many other local coffee shops in the Bethlehem area, I would recommend going to all of them before going to this one if you want decent service. read more

If their overpriced items that are loaded with sugar do not deter you than their unfriendly staff and policies should! Their staff is unfriendly, shooting dirty looks right and left. I simply entered this mockery of a coffee shop to study for a couple of hours before the library opened, and I was then forced to pour out and put away my non-Saxbys coffee. The brewed coffee and the espresso drinks here are consistently above average and are far far better than the other coffee options on this side of the river (within reasonable walking distance of Lehigh). Yes the service isn't stellar but it's on par with the rest of the neighborhood. So it is what it is when you're in that area. If I have to choose between: 1. "Get terrible service, wait a long time, pay a lot, and have mediocre coffee and regret the experience" OR 2. "Go to Saxbys, get mediocre service, wait a long time, pay a lot, and have better than average coffee" Three stars for service. Four stars for the coffee. Wiping the tables during slow times would have given us a better choice of tables. Only 3 tables with customers of approximately 12 choices. 4 I wouldn't sit at! Tea was fine, as was coffee. I love the fact that most of these drinks are ones from Starbucks "secret menu" and considering the fact that Starbucks is right across the road and doesn't even carry the ingredients to make their own drinks is so frustrating. I actually came here for lunch. I added grilled chicken to the caprese and it turned out awesome. The customer service was also excellent.

Coffee was fine. Environment was fine. All the patrons were working quietly and one of the baristas was practically yelling about her tense relationship with her boyfriend. She was inappropriate, rude, and distracting. Made it very hard to get work done. Will not be going back. read more
