Agree with everyone else. Near impossible to get ahold of the office, have to call over and over, leaving messages does nothing as they don't return calls. Then appointments are booked up for weeks. First called about a health issue in January and its almost August and it's still not taken care of. Dr Sawhney was fine when I was finally able to see him but his office is terribly managed. read more

Dr Sawhney seems to be a competent doctor but doesn't have a great bedside manner. My problems are numerous with him and the staff. First, be prepared to be nickeled and dimed for your first visit, procedure and especially the follow up (which takes 5 minutes yet they charge you for an hour). For some idiotic reason they don't take credit cards so be prepared to write a check or pay cash. Lastly, if you're having a colonoscopy, the doctor does not do the procedure. He's there, supervising, but others are actually doing the procedure. read more

Doc is OK but the staff are rude and obnoxious, yelling at me on the phone when I had a simple request. Thank God I wont use him any more.

I don't even want to give the Dr one star whatsoever. The reviews are true when he doesn't listen to you. First, my initial appointment he didn't want to hear what's been going on. I never was explained about the procedure to follow nothing except don't eat the night before. We arrive and then instructions were so horrible we stood outside where even security didn't open the door and to make matters worse didn't know where I was supposed to go according to the paper given to me. I only was informed by an admitting clerk and the intake nurse. The intake nurse suggested I let Dr Sawhney know my concerns before my procedure. This intake nurse was the ONLY one who explained my procedure thoroughly! When Dr finally arrived I ONLY saw him when he said hi and the other nurse kept trying to get him to come back and talk to me before my procedure. THREE TIMES he was asked to come talk to me but he ignored the nurse and responded to the other nurse who was asking the names of the new patients. Wtf?!! According to that nurse it was a quota count because they had 2-3 cancellations. Dr Sawhney never came back and when I woke up I just had a picture on me and luckily the same nurse who tried to get Dr Sawhney earlier has wheeled me to recovery and was the only one trying hard to explain but he looked scared pretty much. NEVER DID THE DR ONCE COME BEFORE MY PROCEDURE EXCEPT TO SAY HI AND BEFORE MY DISCHARGE HE STILL DID NOT COME!!!! I woke up late that day like someone beat the living hell out of me and the next day I could hardly move and walk. I tried calling and the staff was rude and called when they were closing WHEN I CALLED EARLY IN THE MORNING AND WAITED ALL DAY FOR ME TO TAKE TYLENOL?? I called my Dr and ended up talking to the nursing supervisor later and per another Dr I had sciatica. Wtf? No, I've had sciatica TWICE and know something else was wrong. Next day I woke up with a giant bruise on my left leg and I could move my left hand and wrist. What the hell?? I went to urgent care and was told it sounds like a hernia. How do you get a hernia all of a sudden?!! I called Dr Sawhney's office that Friday and it's almost two months later this nightmare of a Dr had still NOT returned any of my calls!!! Even his nurse who said she gets off at 5 never followed through and was the same nurse giving me all these BS excuses as to why he hasn't called back. If you want a quality Dr who cares in your treatment and not a POS read the other reviews and take their advice also. I don't know how TF he even practices still. I will be calling to file a complaint above this office and Dr on Monday. San Leandro hospital already has my statement to the awful treatment I got from this Dr. I should make it clear this Dr ONLY uses their facility and has his own office. Dr Sawhney and his staff are awful. Go elsewhere!!!! read more

Do NOT go to this man if you have a problem that he cannot figure out. He will tell you to take anti-depressants because he thinks it's all in your head. Plus he is not a people person at all. After MONTHS of aggravating pain in my abdomen I finally went to a different gastroenterologist who diagnosed me with a parasite. Gave me meds, cleared up in no time. Dr. Sawhney was able to see me quickly. I was admitted to the ER with severe abdominal pain and was discharged with pain medication and instructions to see a gastroenterologist within 24 hours. I was given a list of docs to call. Before getting in touch with Dr. Sawhney's office, the earliest anyone would see me was a week and a half out. This, in spite of the fact, that I was considered to have an emergent medical situation. The good Dr. Sawhney was able to see me the next day and quickly scheduled me for the proper tests needed to diagnose my problem. He and his staff were professional and prompt. I am looking forward to working with him on determining the cause of my pain and curing it. read more

As the yelp cliché goes, "I wish I could give negative stars" I've dealt with this doctors office on four separate occasions and each time it was a horrible experience. Despite being in person or over the phone, all the staff I have had dealings with (doctor Sawney, the receptionist, and the office manager) are extremely rude and blatantly display a cold and uncaring attitude. They Nickel and dime you for every imaginable service (needed disability form signed and they charge fifty dollars for what takes one minute) they do not follow through with what they ask you to wait on them for. They attempt to belittle any opinion you have-Which is actually hilarious because you can see right through the pretentious undertone they try to subtly sneak in. Overall this is a horrible practice that just medicates their patients oppose to digging for actual causes of a particular symptom. Sorry, but I can't respect any doctor that does not look at all healthy themselves and right off the bat attempts to prescribe very addictive medication. I really hope this is my experience only and they don't treat the majority of their patients as horribly as they treated my family and I (yup! They were even rude to my four year old) It's laughable that they are even in business. Sorry for such a poor review. I usually only write reviews when the service is exceptional or surprisingly impressive and I usually just write off the places that don't wow me but this was such a travesty with what they claim to represent and the rudeness was so severely unprovoked that I felt obligated to speak up. If you take your healthcare seriously and want to be treated like a sensible human being, I WOULD NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE. read more

I like this guy. He's almost a curmudgeon, but not quite. He is curt, not especially friendly, has wings on his heels and he kind of feels like a mylar balloon being pulled by the wind. :) HOWEVER, he is smart, focused, will answer any question and even smiles every now and again. I'm a complicated patient, including having a lot of pain in my back. When he needed me on the table, to examine my abdomen, he was very patient and careful getting me on, quick and efficient in his exam, then patient and careful getting me down. He is also attentive to me, as a unique, individual patient. He looked at my chart. He looked at my list of medications. He explained in easy to understand terms about the interaction between certain medications and my intestinal system. He confirmed that I should continue certain meds that the insurance company says I shouldn't be taking. He sees all of my conditions interacting together, whereas the insurance company is looking at just one isolated medication and the health risks. I am sorry for L K's experience and loss. My mother also died of Alzheimer's. Sadly, for L K, Dr. Sawhney was correct in not signing the death certificate. It was not legal to do so as he had not physically seen the patient. Apparently, Dr. Hites was the patient's primary care physician and as such could have signed the death certificate, as long as she had been seen within a certain period of time. I know these things from my own mother's death and I'm sure the laws are much more strict now than in the 1980's when my mother died. In the circumstances, I would have been upset as well. There happened to be an issue with my mother's death certificate and I remember how upsetting it was to me at the time. As it is, I am pleased to know my physician abides by the law and takes it seriously. It helps me to have faith he won't do anything unethical or improper where my care is concerned. The reason he did not get the 5th star is because I usually have a wait of 1/2 to 1 hour before being seen. With wings on his heels, I wonder why I have to wait? read more

Dr. Sawhney has always seemed rather cold and uninterested. But worse than that, his staff is completely incompetent. After several issues of total incompetency, decided to move to a different doctor. I DO NOT recommend this office to anyone. I would have given it ZERO STARS but in order to post a comment I had to give it at least one. I don't think anyone in that office really gives a crap about the patients. But boy do they sure love to gossip instead of doing their work. read more

Dr. Hites moved on and the new Doctor named Vin Sawhney apparently doesn't honor what Dr. Hites did. My mother who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, had just passed away last week. Unfortunately, her appointment was for the following Monday and she couldn't hold on. Needless to say, I'm so glad she isn't suffering anymore. But the downside of this situation is that the new Doc, will not sign off on her death certificate. What a jerk in my opinion. He could certainly look at her medical record and clearly see her declining over 20 years, but since he physically didn't see her, he is being stubborn and will not sign the papers. Now we have to send my mom to the coroner's for an autopsy and then back to the funeral home for a proper burial. So much stress this new Doc has caused me. This will be pasted on his page also. Totally dissatisfied. I will take this posting down if he actually signs the papers, but until then, it will be posted. read more
