Came here after Dr. Massen was listed on my insurance. The place itself is a bit difficult to find because it's inside of a larger building with lots of other doctor offices, it's the first door the left and the second window down next to a dentist office. The receptionist was super nice, I was able to get an appointment that very day and once I came in everyone was so nice. They quickly got me inside and the nurse was very nice and attentive to all my symptoms. The doctor is quite the funny guy he cracks jokes as soon as he walks in, which is awesome but also I feel like it stops him from listening to me and taking me seriously but at the same time was funny enough to make me feel comfortable. He sent me away with some antibiotics and some lab work. I didn't get my lab results back until about a week later (even tho I remember him saying I would get them 2 days later) and when I called nobody got back to me I had to call again and speak to the receptionist directly. Overall I would recommend this office the receptionist/nurse is great the doctors pretty good. No real complaints but also nothing crazy. read more

The front desk receptionists are rude and incompetent! I have been calling for over two weeks and every time I call it goes straight to voicemail. I've left numerous detailed voicemails for them to call me back but it's been two weeks with no call back! I need to talk with my doctor but I'm losing hope. read more

I have nothing but problems with this Dr. office. I am running out of medication because the Dr. absolutely refuses to reply to the pharmacy. I am on insulin and heart medication, it is a very serious medical problem when the Dr.s office does not care about his patients at all. When you call the machine says they are closed and leave a message. Leaving a message does nothing. Last week I actually called from their parking lot and got the message that they were closed, I walked in and they were in there working, just refusing to answer the phone. Dr. A. Massen has been my medical Doctor for over 20 something years. Yes most people thinks he's a rude and a unconcerned Doctor that's not true at all. I see many reviews here saying that there is a long wait and that their schedule is very packed. Yes, this is true. They are very busy. There is a good reason for that. Dr. Massen is one of the best in the industry and people recognize that. I recommended all of my family and friends to see Dr. Massen. Some of my family members changed insurance providers just so that they can see Dr. Massen. I might have caused the long wait for other people. :) In my last visit, I noticed that they also hired a very friendly and knowledgeable nurse practitioner. I hate going to the doctor. good news, bad news, no news, i simply hate it. Visiting Dr. Massen is more like going to a debate of wits. He is hillarious. I don't know if he is so sarcastic and funny with all his patients, probably not the geriatric ladies at least.. but he makes me laugh every time and I forget that I"m sick. I should probably mention that Dr. Massen is seeing my whole family now, because his humor became contagious. Most importantly, I ask him the stupidest questions and he always takes me seriously and answers them without rushing off to see the next patient. He has 2 offices, Hayward and Pleasanton. I wish I could say I had actually made it to the office to see Dr. Arkady. Unfortunately as someone trying to establish him as my new General Practitioner, I could not for the life of me get this office to respond appropriately. I called to ask about making an appointment and they said "fax in the new patient paperwork you can find on our website and we'll call you when we get it." I filled out all 9 pages and faxed it in. A week later, no word. I called to ask and they said don't worry, when they get to my papers they'll call me. Another week goes by, still no word. I call again and the receptionist asks for my name then says "fill out our new patient paperwork and we'll call you." I just told you that's what I'm calling about! Finally she finds the paperwork and says "oh yeah okay when do you want an appointment?" I made an appointment for two weeks out (the earliest I could get). Later I had to call to reschedule and they never got my name or appointment correct. Then a day later they called to remind me of my appointment -- which I had cancelled!! I finally asked them to please tear up my paperwork and I would find another doctor. I don't trust an office as disorganized as this when someone is trying to become a new patient, and I wouldn't want to go through this hassle very time I'd like to see the doctor. read more

I don't even want to do ONE star. Wait is a hour!!! Than i was able to be seen for 10minutes u talk to the nurse longer. He doesn't even care just prescribes whatever and sends u on your way. I've been in the emergency room 2x because my doctor was gone for a whole month without anyone taking over him. Finally i am seen 2 hours later for 5 mins all he does is refer me to a ghetto ass place which i am here now 4 weeks later still in pain. I go to the front desk and they never sent my referrals here!!!!!!!!! I am so mad with doctor massen that i will tell my health insurance about his profession idk how anybody likes him he's a joke!! My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Massen over 10 years. He is very caring and thorough. He has sent us to the best specialists and followed our treatments necessary by them. We can tell he and his wonderful staff care about our health and well being. I call it old fashioned health care with modern technique. Not a good experience. Sorry to say, but I got treated by a Nurse practitioner. The Dr. Was not available so one of the nurse practitioner assisted me with some stomach pain I was having. He asked me plenty of questions and at the end was only subscribed TUMS lol the guy was nice, but cmon I need more info then only being told I have acid reflex for eating too much hot sauce. read more

If your ok with an assistant dealing with your life then go ahead. Its a shame when you spend time with people who just want to not litsen. Just write perscriptions that are un necessary that WILL do you more harm than good in the long run. If your overweight they give you a pill, not talk about why your overweight. I have to agree with the glowing review Zoli E. gave Dr. Massen. To cut to the chase, Dr. Massen is the best. You will have a VERY difficult time finding a better doctor than Dr. Massen. Dr. Massen is personable, caring, and most importantly he is VERY experienced and VERY knowledgeable. He is exceptionally intuitive in understanding what's going on with me and advising the most practical course of action. While I always try to be respectful of his time, Dr. Massen takes the time to listen. He listens and helps me to understand what is going on with me. That is a big deal to me, the patient. Dr. Massen has always been accessible to me. Whether at his office, via email (he quickly responds), and he has called me at home to inquire how I was doing. I've called his office and he has personally talked to me regarding my issues. I was not expecting that kind of personal care from my doctor. Wow. I would say that Dr. Massen practices "practical" medicine. He focuses on what is truly going on with the patient, what I should expect, and includes practical advice on how to take care of myself. He is big on preventative medicine and makes certain I get the annual check up. He takes the time to put my health and personal issues in the proper perspective. He is exceptional on providing practical advice on how to stay healthy. One example was his dietary advice regarding my diverticulitis. It turned a serious problem into a solution. When a specialist was needed he sent me to top notch physicians in their specific field. I've never been sent out for a bunch of unwarranted tests either. Oh, did I mention his sense of humor? He cracks me up. He is very good at instilling humor into his practice. His wit helps me, I'll tell you that much. Obviously Dr. Massen enjoys helping his patients and was meant to be a doctor. An exceptional one at that. I have been seeing Mr. Massen for about 7 years now. I would not want to see anyone else as my personal physician. I'm 59 years old and I've know a few doctors in my day, both as a patient and personally. When my boyfriend finally got health insurance from his job, I went on Google to search for a doctor close by where we live and would also take his insurance. That's when I found Dr. Arkady Massen MD. Not only is his office extremely convenient to get to but I was so impressed with him and his staff. My boyfriend Vaughn and I made an appt. and went there in Jan. 2013. Vaughn went to Dr. Massen for severe edema due to his diabetes. Dr. Massen was so professional and took his time to examine Vaughn and also prescribed medications to control his diabetes, edema, high blood pressure, depression, etc... Dr. Massen is very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, personable, truly cares about his patients and their well being and just simply amazing! I can't say enough good things about him and his staff. They are there to help with all your medical needs. Their office is clean and organized and there's plenty of parking space out front. Location is convenient to bus routes too. Vaughn and I love Dr. Massen and his staff and we hope he stays around for a very long time so we don't have to switch doctors. My parents, aged 89 and 80, received the best care from Dr. Massen and his incredible staff, including Arianna. Dr. Massen took the time to explain his recommended care, and helped us through some very difficult transitions including my father's advancing Alzheimer's. The practice reminds me of an old-fashioned Doctor's office where care and time are spent, and I never felt rushed. The on-line tools for asking questions and reviewing lab results were also really easy to use. We never waited more than 10 minutes for an appointment, and the office was helpful with several pieces of paperwork that I needed for health insurance claims and work.
