Excuse today was it is busy. Waited an hour for a panini that never got made, young girls were rude. Never got food.

My first time trying Saw Dust Cafe on a Sunday. They were Very busy a line right from when I entered the door. I ordered an iced peanut butter fluff latte and sat outside. However, they have a major bee issue outside. Not sure if there is a hive somewhere. But they need to take a look and spray before they open, or after they close. Almost every table were swatting bees. Next time I will just stay inside. read more

Friday night stop after watching a show at the Bradley Theater- great find! Everything else was closed and we walked by to hear live music and peeked in to see people sipping on chocolate drinks. Since it was a coffee shop, we thought they were drinking hot chocolate-nope! Cocktails galore. On Friday and Saturday evenings the upstairs is open with a bar and plenty of seats. It filled up around 10 pm to become a bustling bar with a friendly crowd. We ordered the graze platter, mudslide and snickers martinis, rum punches and two flatbread pizzas- roni and buffalo chicken ranch. The food was served in generous portions with lots of toppings on the pizza. Our bill was $100. Great find and fun atmosphere! read more

RUDE!!!! Kicked the kids out of the restaurant bc they were holding ice cream. So leave your kids on the street sounds reasonable. And the coffee is weak. And also there was some grainy dust like actual saw dust at the bottom of the chai. read more

My friend and I stopped here to have a coffee and a bite to eat here recently. They've fixed the place up beautifully and it's spacious and fun. We both ordered drinks and a bite to eat at the counter. She ordered a muffin and I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. We got our drinks and got a table and waited for our food orders to be ready. All these people kept coming in and they were calling them that their orders were ready, finally I went to ask what happened to ours? Apparently, no one put the order in. No worries, we weren't in a rush. But, when our orders came my bagel was only part toasted (still not a biggie), but for the life of me I couldn't get that hard cream cheese to spread!! I would suggest that they use a mixer on it to make it whipped cream cheese so it's spreadable. read more

I was really excited to try Saw Dust in Putnam today with my friend, especially since I've been to the Sturbridge location a few times and loved it. Unfortunately, my experience in Putnam was the complete opposite. When we walked in, we weren't greeted--not a huge deal, but not the best first impression. We sat down, got settled, and started looking at the menu when a server approached us and said, "I usually don't do this, but can you please order something now? My boss just got here." We let her know we were planning to order but weren't sure what we wanted yet. Despite that, we still felt rushed to decide. We ordered martinis, and when she asked for our IDs, she laughed and said, "Sorry, I don't know how to read IDs." Poor training aside, the whole interaction just felt awkward and unprofessional. Overall, we felt uncomfortable, like we were being treated as if we were loitering rather than paying customers. As servers/bartenders ourselves, we understand the stress of the job, but proper training goes a long way. She seemed more afraid of her boss than focused on providing good service. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for. read more

The new owners ruined it. VSC was a town staple, and it was perfect as it was. I miss their specialty lattes. I have not had one drink that is good here their coffee and their lattes are terrible. The upstairs renovation with the bar is cool but they tried to do too much with downstairs that didn't need to change. Also, why did they paint the outside of the building? It looks awful. This was a comforting place to go as I spent much of my childhood growing up here but now the nostalgia is lost. They've gotten rid of a lot of the core components that made it so special. Disappointed. I found other favorite coffee shops that I will choose over this one now. read more

They need to improve their system for filling orders. I ordered a hot tea and other drinks were ready in front of mine even though my order was placed first. My last food order was inedible. It was an egg sandwich. Egg was cold and bread not toasted. This was disappointing since the prices are hefty. Staff could be much friendlier. They always seem bothered and annoyed. read more

The outdoor sitting area is lovely and nice to just enjoy the warmer weather. The turkey and bacon sandwich was great (it seemed to have a cranberry based sauce or jam which was a pleasant surprise for me - Thanksgiving is my favorite!). The pistachio latte was just sweet enough without being overpowering. Service was quick and friendly. When I am in the Putnam area I will frequent this cafe! read more

Super cute spot in downtown Putnam. While passing through we needed a coffee break, and were happy to find Saw Dust Cafe! Wonderful interior which serves all sorts of coffee drinks and also has a full bar with plenty of options. Also saw a sign that listed they have live music on weekends. The cold brew hit the spot and would definitely check it out again! read more

This is a cool coffee shop in the downtown area of Putnam. The decor is warm and rustic. My oat milk latte was excellent and the cinnamon roll shared with my group was warm, moist and not overly sweet. The service was fast and everyone in my group was happy with their drinks. I wish with my daughters for a Mother's Day get together and we ended up going to the sawdust Café. I have never been in a place like that. I thought it was fantastic. I was hoping that this would be a new and better iteration of the former occupant Victoria Station, but I was say disappointed to see that it is the same place just rebranded. DO NOT TRY THE PASTRY...it is so dry that you will not be able to eat it without it crumbling or needing a drink. The drink menu is nearly the same as well. Not a terrible place to grab a coffee or refresher and sit outside on a nice day, but that is the extent of it. If you wish to be sadly disappointed, check this place out...otherwise steer clear and you'll be much happier. read more

We stopped in for some iced coffees and my son wanted a strawberry smoothie so I thought sure, some fresh fruit. It was hot out so why not? we ordered our coffees & the strawberries smoothie. I was standing off to the side waiting for the order to be made and I watched a girl go over to the bar pull out a container of strawberry daiquiri drink mix pour it into the blender with ice pour it into a cup and handed it over. That's what they're serving as a freaking strawberry smoothie?! that's disgusting! that is loaded with artificial color, artificial flavoring, excessive amounts of sugar and it's not smoothie mix. It's strawberry daiquiri bar mix that should never be sold as a standalone item. I paid so much money for this smoothie. I took this smoothie and my husband and I both like "We'll just try it cause maybe you know it's not that bad." It was so freaking disgusting it got thrown away. My child got nothing we paid for it and you should be ashamed. read more

Service was very odd. We ordered iced tea and when we asked for lemon, the server went over to the bar, stabbed a lemon slice with a fork and handed me the fork with lemon juice dripping. The person who delivered our lunch basically flung it on the table. My lunch date had a salad made with clearly not fresh lettuce and frozen chicken zapped in an air fryer. My mediterranean sandwich had an 'olive' spread in it which included crushed up olive pits. When I brought the sandwich up to the counter the extremely hostile server argued with me, told me it was edible and actually kicked me out of the restaurant when I said I wanted my money back. This server has seen WAY too many Karen videos and has a scorching case of main-character syndrome. She simply couldn't accept the substance of my complaint, sharp objects in my food, so she just freaked out shouting she was "over it". I really hope they at least threw away this hazardous food. I won't darken their door again. Not a good experience. read more

The redesign is very nice. The atmosphere is a nice place to spend time. The staff is friendly. So far I've tried a cappuccino, hot chocolate, cupcake and a blueberry muffin. All were so so. The food and drinks are a 4 out of 10. Haven't been for the live music at night but the manager told me they are going for a low key atmosphere not a rowdy one. read more

Went here today for the second time for coffee and this place does not disappoint. I highly recommend the caramel peanut flavor shot. It made for a delicious double shot latte. They have oatmilk too. The remodeled Victoria station renamed as Saw dust Cafe. Saw dust has another popular location in Sturbridge Massachusetts. I can honestly say I think the muffin and several other baked items I purchased tasted like sawdust. The customer service is luke warm and the atmosphere not welcoming. Very uncomfortable furniture. I am told they have live music and are really pushing their licensed bar. I would not return and would not describe this as a "cafe". read more

I visited saw dust coffee shop 6/24/24 and ordered a medium ice coffee I was surprised when they charged me 5.80. I do not mind paying a little ex for a good coffee but it was old and they charged me 1.00 for ice and did not tell me. Will never go there again read more

Asked if we could sit outside, sat outside for 15 minutes and watched 3 different wait staff walk by a half dozen times and not a single person asked if we wanted anything. Any other bar in downtown Putnam has better service. read more

We frequently visited Victoria Station so thought we'd stop in to see what the new owners were doing. We all ordered lattes and teas but when we saw how unsanitary the process was we went outside and threw them all in the trash. The girl on the register was taking orders, taking peoples money, hands in the tip jar and then with her same dirty hands picking up their coffee cups with her fingers inside the cups to mark their order on the cup. Then the girl in the back making the coffees now comes to the register and takes a few orders, handling the money and doing the same thing. No gloves, no handwashing just putting her hands all over the lids of the cups, inside the cups and on top of the lids. We were appalled , having a food service ourself, knowing the safety measures that should be taken. It was 30.00 in the trash that day for us. What ever happened to serve safe practices? Employees are not being properly trained. The pastry was dry. That went into the trash too. Never again. read more
