They recently got a new manager and I believe that the drastic price increase on their inventory is her fault. They now want 20.00 for their USED AND DONATED dresses! Ya'all are higher than Walmart and target! I'm doing most my shopping at Burlington these days. Savers is now right down there with the crooked goodwill stores. Half a star. read more

about 6 months age the store started getting dirty and the staff now puts broken pitcher frames out broken and chipped coffee cups, handle broken off tea pots very sharp edges just alot of dirty things, its not like before. the staff is not organizing the shelves. no quality control read more

While this thrift store isn't in the cleanest of shopping centers, it's got a halfway-decent selection of clothes. I'd like to give them a higher rating but it's gone downhill the past couple of years. As with many retail stores, they have had many changes in staff and management. Some employees are amazing while others are dreadful. I actually witnessed one female clerk threatening to "kick the ass" of a female customer. To be honest they were both rough looking and foul-mouthed but you shouldn't have to be subjected to that kind of behavior from the employees regardless of the situation. As for the selection, there are some great pieces in there but they are over-priced in general. The items are given a particular color of tag the week that they come in and are priced. The oldest color in the rotation goes on sale for half-price every week, each week hosting a different colored tag that is on sale. On a positive note, they give you a 20% off coupon when you donate a bag of clothing/household items. They also donate whatever clothes don't sell during the tag rotation sale to those in need and, reportedly, donate profits to organizations in need as well but I don't have valid proof of that. Worth checking out if you want something nice but don't want to spend a ton of money. read more

I used to never go shopping for used clothes. But after coming to this specific savers, I fell in love with buying some here. It's huge, which means plenty of selection. Not only clothes, but everything else you could think of. It doesn't smell like thrift store either, clean and well organized! Came by on a rainy Wednesday night. As soon as I walked in, I was told by a staff how pretty I was. Definitely put a smile on my face right away, see how one compliment can turn someone's day around. I found a few things I liked. The cashier I had was amazing! The Filipina lady was just so nice and helped me out no problem. I would love to come back and have the same cashier, she was just real good at her job. She did mention that she has been working there for 13 years, figured why she was spot on her customer service skills. She was having a rough day, yet didn't let it affect her job. That lady deserves a raise! She found a tiny stain on a sundress I found...turned it from $7 to like $2.50. So for about $25, I got 3 sundresses and a skirt. Can't beat that price! Overall, 5/5 for customer service, product selection, and store cleanliness. Will always come back to this store, I always find something I like for such a great price! read more

I used to love Savers. Went every single week. The prices at this location have gotten so high. It doesn't make sense since there are soooo many thrift stores in Reno with prices 1/3 of this Savers. No dressing rooms. You have to check yourself out. Yesterday I found a paperback piano book with no price. I asked for help and she rang in 5.99 and coded it women's clothes? I said, it's a paperback book. It should be 1.99. She replied that they just had a meeting and we're supposed to raise all prices. I questioned the price again saying none of the books are that much. She replied if I'd gone to the male checker he'd have charged me 7.99. I told her to cancel the purchase. There are too many good thrift stores in Reno to waste your time and money here. And they are not non-profit. Donate and shop elsewhere. The coupon is not worth it anymore. read more

So, I came here for clothes to buy for an interview. They didn't have dressing rooms so I had to buy a few pants in different sizes to try on at home to see which ones fit. Which sucked because I didn't want to condone to spending what little money I had. However, The lady told me that day I have two weeks to RETURN what did not fit me. I came back to return the ones that did not and they are exchanges only. I don't need the clothes, I needed my money back. Super rude. Not happy at all. Will not be coming back. read more

I live with Multiple Sclerosis and used to donate many fine and expensive items to Savers. And then I once went into the store and I was shocked at the prices I saw. This is price gouging and I'm surprised anyone is willing to shell out what they're asking for these second hand items. Even for a good cause. read more

So I stood there like a clueless idiot (which I am) while my two friends scurried about and brought me clothing which we will eventually transform into some sort of steampunkish outfit. Halloween goodies are already out, so some of those will help. I actually got completely outfitted, from a hat, shirt, vest, dress, belt and shoes for under $30. Being the thrift store psycho that I am, you can only imagine how happy I was when I found out there was 2 Savers in the Reno/Sparks area when I moved here. Though I haven't had as much luck finding great treasures like I do at the one in Sparks, I am still finding great buys at this location too. What I like most about the Saver's chain is that when you walk in to any of the other locations, it doesn't have that thrift store (I want to kind of puke because of the stench) smell. Called ahead was told they take furniture. I was Turing in my Grandfathers Loveseat Leather with the tags still on it. When I get there I'm told if 1 person can not carry it then they will not take it. It was in 4 parts. I carried the whole thing to my truck and Separated it in the truck got easy moving. The guy was too week to lift a cushion. It's Called Extremely lazy workers. Waste of time these people don't want to do anything for a leather loveseat. Lazy lazy lazy I would have taken it out but it's not slowed due to the pansy works not being able to lift a seat back. Pathetic!!! Will not buy here anymore. Two stars for the store's book selection. But their donation center sucks. I was trying to drop off a dresser and some books. GRUMPY SAVERS GUY: "No furniture!! Can't take this!" ME: "Fine. Do you mind if I just throw it away back at my office then?" GSG: "Can't throw it in the garbage either!!!!" ME: "Well then what do you recommend I do with it?" GSG: "I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU DO WITH IT! Just don't give it to us and don't throw it away! JESUS CHRIST!" What a grouch. Ended up taking the dresser and books to Goodwill, which was happy to take them. I honestly don't see why he would have cared if I had gone back to the office and thrown them away, recycling the books, which was my original plan all along. Or how he would have known. read more

Thrift stores are my "treasure hunting" palace, as I like to say - you never know what you're going to find. Or, maybe it's like a box of chocolates, now that I think about it. Hmm... I love Savers because it's always organized and well-kept, and I can always go through the aisles looking for that special treasure for the day. Sometimes it's something for the office, like a carton of unused mailing labels that a business gave away. Other days, it's an appliance I've never heard of, like an eggshell cracker, that helps me to make eggs easier in the morning. Most recently, I've been visiting and scanning the aisles for something - a basket, a glass tray, etc - that can hold unopened tea bag pouches in it. Every so often, you can also find great furniture. On my last visit, I found that there were six or so matching bookcases, nightstands, and round coffee tables - all of the same trim and design, in great (like new) condition and priced to sell. I think that it was probably a local business that had liquidated or sold the business, and they had a bunch of stuff left over that they didn't want to work to sell, so they just gave it away. Nevertheless, what a great find for anyone needing new furniture? Overall, Savers is a great place to visit and shop at, for anyone - don't be entitled - and well worth a visit. They are a leader in the thrift store category, and get five stars from me. read more

This place is awesome! I actually don't go inside, but what other thrift store has a drive thru? I've been downsizing a condo here in Reno, and have made numerous trips to this thrift store. The access is easy, and you just drive up, they bring a rolling bing to your car, unload, get a tax receipt and drive off. Couldn't be better. I rarely buy my clothes anywhere else anymore. I loves me the Savers! This store is particularly nice and clean and open, with a great selection of clothes. Today is President's Day, aka, 50% off day at Savers, aka, FAB-u-LOUS! I bought a cartload of clothes, including a pair of Levis and Gap Jeans and two Lauren Polo shirts for Husband, about a dozen Baby Gap, Gymboree, and Old Navy outfits for Kid, and several shirts for myself from REI, Gap, and Banana Republic. Grand total? $88. CHING! The people there are very friendly, and usually the other customers aren't too pushy. I don't know why I'm telling you all this...I don't need any more competition at the Savers. I take it all back...one star. You should continue paying too much money at the mall. read more

This used to be my favorite thrift store. I'm all about thrifting clothes, and Savers has the absolute best clothing selection in town. The problem is that lately their prices have gotten out of hand. Fifteen dollars for a pair of American Eagle jeans that I could get brand new for twenty-five bucks is kind of a rip-off when it comes to thrift store bargains. They have those colored tags that are half off on alternating days, but I can never find a single item with the color that's on sale that day. Either some early-bird shoppers are snagging everything, or those colors just don't exist on the clothing. It's not the cleanest place in town either, although their employees are usually really friendly and they play decent music. The clothing is well organized, but the rest of the store is kind of a wreck. I still go in there when I need jeans, but I wish they hadn't raised prices so much in the last year. read more

I have been shopping here for the past 6 years. Prices have gone up exponentially! Its highway robbery to charge the same amount for a thermos mug (used and dinged up) that Walmart is selling brand new. That purchase was last summer. This weekend though I was furious..... This saturday 11-15-14 i went to check out with my 20+ items (i do this for a living... seriously I buy soo much stuff) and they REFUSED to sell me some of the items! One dress had no tag! I was IN LOVE with it! I found it on the rack with NO TAG and the manager pretty much said that I RIPPED IT OFF AND EVEN GAVE ME A DEMO ON HOW THEY NEVER FALL OFF..... Savers please don't treat your customers like CRIMINALS! Tags do fall off! Issue #2 I purchased $14 boots with mouse feces on the inside and totally chewed up and ruined from a mouse making a nest out of the soft wool footpad soles. If your going to overcharge your customers at least make sure they dont step in mouse crap when they buy your shoes. Compared to most thrift stores the turnaround is fast and its pretty clean (except the bathrooms here are always pretty nasty and smelly) I get that they need to charge like any normal company to make money (even though they get it for FREE) So if the items are quality and not ripped or damaged or missing buttons its awesome and i get why they charge more because they are going over items more thoroughly and being choosier. read more

Have been coming here for years. Some of the prices are a bit high but then some are good. I guess it all balances out but it seems I always find something that is a bit overpriced. They do have a seniors day and if you join the club other discounts come your way also. I do not donate here any longer as the last time I donated some glass goods and the guy working the garage area literally threw the bag in a pile with other stuff after I told him to be careful as it contained glass items. Over the years most all of the thrift stores in town have had to raise their prices. I have been told by someone in the know that most of the thrift stores in town rent their buildings-the landlords give them a break on the rent and write off the rest as a "donation" on their taxes. Over the years the tax laws have changed and it is not as beneficial for the landlords to do this any longer. read more

It frustrates me that the clothing racks are set up backwards, as if for a left-handed person. It just makes browsing so much harder and discourages me from doing so. The merchandise is, overall, still dirty and a little icky, BUT I had to come back and update my review because they've definitely improved. The workers seem a lot happier and more friendly, which is huge for me! They actually seem to enjoy their job, and go out of their way to offer assistance. Employee attitude greatly impacts my overall shopping experience, so I'm very pleased to see these changes. The prices even seem a bit more consistent too! read more

The employees here are always friendly. I've found some screaming deals on clothes I would have been paying five or six times as much for brand new. As with any thrifty store, you have to sift through a lot to find really nice things, but it's worth it and I always come away with a few really nice scores. My only real criticism is cleanliness of the store. Generally, the main sections of the store are okay but the bathrooms are generally in bad condition. It's a busy place with lots of traffic and few employees, but this is something to work on. read more

OMG I loved this store. It's huge! I bought a bread machine, rice cooker, cat box hider thinger, glass bowl, cool 70's end table, shoes for my niece and a little scoot, scoot toy for her and my nephew to play with. All for under 40 bucks. I need to refurnish my whole house and will definitely be hitting this place up quite often to get things I need. Working a donation station is never easy, and I empathize with that. The two gentlemen who helped me and my daughter-in-law unload mustard yellow 70's style counter stools and endless crates of clothes yesterday were awesome. They made us laugh. We all worked together to get it unloaded, and we were professionally given our stamp cards and tax deduction forms. So dudes, you rock, and what you do is so relevant to our world. You are my recycling tribe, and that matters a lot to me.
