Always a great sale. Prices vary, so you really have to shop the sales. With other stores just a short drive, you can save on groceries. Just don't get everything here. Some things are way overpriced. But I gotta say, the produce and fruits selection, pricing and quality are top notch here!!! Much better than Safeway down the road. The employees are hit and miss, seems the younger ones just don't care to be friendly or helpful. I have encountered quite a few of the older and middle aged ladies to be very friendly, and helpful though. Maybe some more training is needed for the younger people on customer service and friendliness. It is our neighborhood grocery store, so it is convenient to grab milk or bread from there on our way home from work or errands. It would be nice to see something done about the rowdy teenagers coming into the store with their bikes and playing ball like they are on the court. If I could give Zero Stars I would. Don't be dazzled by their "Rewards Program", although you put in your member number, it never works on all items, just some. A clerk has to manually fix everything. BY THEN ALL YOUR FROZEN GOODS ARE UNTHAWED AND YOU'VE WAITED 15 MINUTES. When you get an e-mail that states $5 off on a $25 purchase, that will NEVER work, THEY DON'T GIVE YOU THAT REWARD CREDIT. I won't be back EVER again. I was totally insulted by the clerk, who insinuated that I was trying to cheat the store out of $5- ! WOW. I am 73 years old and my shoes and purse cost more than $500. Dressed in jewelry/expensive clothes and accessories and this stupid young idiot is suggesting I'm trying to rip off the store for $5- What??? WOW! My friends found it all laughable, myself, I found it insulting. Instead of getting a manager or someone who knew what to do to fix the problem, he calls me a cheater. I told him he could put all the items back and that I would not be shopping in there EVER AGAIN. This is after years/multiple problems with their pricing. Not all sale prices are put into their computer data base and you will be charged the regular price instead of the sale prices.. hmm. The State of CA fines retailers who advertise one price but charge a higher price using their computer/digital system to charge more. Most people never look at their receipts. I understand that it was Christmas Eve, and I absolutely respect retail employees wanting to get home for the holiday. That said, the store was posted as closing at 7 pm, and I arrived at 6:45 needing a single item. The front doors were blocked, and I was turned away with unnecessary attitude, which was surprising and unprofessional. If the store planned to close early, that should be clearly communicated. Otherwise, customers should be allowed to shop during the posted hours without being made to feel like an inconvenience. Between this experience and ongoing issues I've had with expired or poor-quality food. And prices that put Whole Foods and Raleys to shame. I'm currently counting down the days until Nugget opens. If you're looking for a stress free shopping trip, this is the spot to go to. I came here right after a costco trip on a saturday, and it definitely served as a destresser. Lots of available parking and surprisingly not too busy. Friendly staff and clean store with lots of options! I was happy to everything I was looking for (lentil soup ingredients and corn bread mix). The Behind the counter is an absolute delight however the heavyset blonde in her 50s. I think she's the owner is extremely rude and dismissive. She's speaks to employee rudely and she's rude to the customers and she's very dismissive. They're always closed when I go there when they're supposed to be open, they're always out of donuts when I arrive between nine and 10 o'clock in the morning I've gone there six different occasions and only one time have they had donuts and I arrive between again 9 AM and 930 or so I would never go back there. This store is so dirty. There is trash outside all around the building. The restrooms are filthy and look like they haven't been cleaned in months. With the filth in and around the store, I could only imagine what crawls around on the food in the storage room. I usually never write any reviews but as of today I had to. I am new to city and it didn't leave a good impression. I was at Save mart supermarket, the manager and the cashier made me feel really uncomfortable. I sensed racism. As there were customers ahead of me in line, he greeted them all, spoke to them nicely, but when I came to the register to get checked out, the cashier and manager barely even said a word to me. The manager was standing right by the register. He appeared to be a guy with throwback jersey. it was truly uncomfortable to the point where I had to wish him a nice day myself. Being kind and friendly goes a long way. I wish I can say I will go back to that store again. read more

This review is specifically for the meat department. I always know somertimes the meat department will have out some supprising and unusual cuts, from beef short ribs to a killer deal on pork. But, this time I was browsing just before Christmas Eve and of course there was tons of prime ribs out, most pieces way bigger than I'd wanna cook for two people. I saw this "Prime Grade" small cut prime ribs, about 2 inches thick, maybe you might call it a thick cut ribeye, but it looked like a good piece with good marbling. $14.99 was the price, so I thought, this would be like $22 a lb at Costco for this cut! I didn't plan on cooking Christmas Eve, but I guess I am now. This was one nice looking piece, trimmed decently so not a ton of extra fat. Cooked it 45 minutes at 350 and then seared. After cooking, wow, this thing is so tender it's falling apart trying to pick it up, I had to use a spatula instead of tongs! OMG! This was the best beef I've ever had in my LIFE! No kidding, better than that $90 steak in Vegas or any other restaurant, that's for sure! Great beefy flavor, and so tender, you could see the meat grain fibers separating when you cut into it! You could just pull the meat apart cooked medium! I'll continue checking out this meat department regularly if I'm in the store. read more

This poorly managed store fails to rotate dairy and meat products so you need to be very careful when picking up items. Check your expiration dates. The layout can often be confusing as certain items will be found 'not together' but in multiple aisles. It's a sub-par store and offers nothing charming or welcoming during your shopping experience. Back to refusing service to minors...my daughter is 14 and went to get something for breakfast before school while her father was in the parking lot and was turned away even though she was alone and had money. I've been in this neighborhood for 14yrs and have sent both my daughters 14/17 inside multiple times in the past to grab random items because I dont necessarily want to get out of the car all the time. This place is definitely in need of some refurbishment and better lighting. It feels kind of dingy. That may make some people think the prices are great, but they really aren't. The employees don't seem very happy to be there and it shows with their customer service. They can come off as rude and bothered to deal with you, even when you are the only customer there. I just returned from a "last minute" trip to this store. I counted 10 adult customers not wearing face coverings and two employees wearing theirs improperly---with the mask dropped below their noses. I even asked one of them, a young woman moving shopping carts around INSIDE THE STORE, to pull her mask up to cover her nose. She gave me an excuse that she gets "really dizzy and I have to go outside and..." Granted, it's close to 100 degrees out there today. I would probably do the same thing OUTSIDE, in the wind. But using this excuse to not wear her face covering properly while inside the store due to a problem outside the store doesn't cut it. I didn't raise my voice or even follow with a snappy comeback. I just walked outside with my stupid groceries feeling angry. Why? Because my wife works in a nursing home. We cannot take any chances. So when we need last minute items and need to rush to the store, we need to be sure at least the store employees are following state mandated rules; not just paying lip service to them. Savemart! Putting up signs isn't working. Other retailers have an employee at their door reminding people to wear masks and are handing masks out to those who don't care enough to bring one. This store won't even do that. As a result long-time customers like us can't shop with confidence at this store. Call me a "Kevin" (male version of a "Karen") that's fine. But I am tired of keeping my mouth shut. This is not a hoax folks. People are getting sick and some are dying. Savemart Rocklin has a Rockstar status baker/cake decorator! I was looking for an inexpensive last minute Bday cake for my daughter's party. I didn't care about the flavor, I just wanted a pretty thing to look at for the dessert table. I didn't get her name, but I was impressed when the cake lady took a photo of my sample cake and wrote down the intricate details of the 'dream' cake. Mind you, I know this is SaveMart and I have very low expectations. I picked up the cake and lo and behold...I was in awe! It's one of the most beautiful one tier cake I've seen in my life. Everyone at the party couldn't believe it when I told them I ordered it from SaveMart down the block. Also, the cake was extremely delicious. I have no doubt it was made with lots of love. I didn't get her name, but I want to internet thank that decorator lady for a very impressive cake, on top of planning to go back there soon to personally thank her. I didn't pick up the cake, so I didn't get to. But this rave and review is a well deserved one for her and SaveMart. Hope her employer knows they have a gem of a worker and that their bakeshop offers products that could compete against the best of the best in the area if (wo)manned by the right personnel. Very disappointed at the blocking of minors to enter the store unaccompanied. My son often would pick up odds and ends for me after school on his way home. Now he can't. Are there exceptions? Can I send him with a dated note/shopping list and my number??? How about only letting 1 or 2 minors in at a time? Today I went in with my son. I asked him to help me divide and conquer- he went to grab something on one side of the store for me while I grabbed something from the opposite, with the plan of meeting at register. He was told he could not be in there. He was asked to leave even though I was in the store with him. He let them know he was with me. He was still told to leave. Was craving some beef jerky and saw they had the meat I wanted on sale. The butcher was putting some meat out and I asked if he could slice it for me. He said no problem, asked how thick, length etc. I had to grab something else and when I went back it was sliced and wrapped. He had a great customer service which is rare nowadays. Richard at the Stanford Ranch Save Mart is a ROCK STAR!! I asked about a select bourbon I was interested in, but could not find it on the shelf. Richard, who has been with Save Mart since 1979, knew right where to find it!! Since the product was in the back, Richard could have easily said it is out of stock. Instead, Richard took the time stop what he was doing to find the item for me. It is this level of service that sets Save Mart apart from its competitors. I love shopping where the customer is respected and cared for. Richard is a great example of why Save Mart Stanford Ranch is the BEST place to shop.
