I give save mart a 3 star only because they are usually pretty stocked up and employees are pleasant. What I don't like and keeps me from going back is that they don't enforce mask wearing with customers. I feel they don't value customer safety. I hope they change their policy and enforce them. Great selections and very clean grocery store. Their produce section is very well organized and I recommend checking it out. They do not have very competitive pricing. They have similar pricing as Raleys but maybe a little more expensive here. I didn't see any organic section here, but all their food looks great and fresh. Employees were friendly and helpful. Today I went in to pick up a cake for my daughters birthday. I have to say I was a little disappointed. I asked for the cake to be ready by 9 and I showed up at 10 and it wasn't ready yet. So I went and did an errand and than came back to pick it up. It looked great but like I said it was late like over an hour late. So the place is not as clean, not as cheerful, and the customer in front of me must have worked for the company because he was talking with all the employees in a very not public manner while I patiently waited. The employees on duty didn't care. Again I started with "Raley's is the EXPENSIVE STORE". And Save Mart... Well SAVE is right in the name so it should be cheaper right? This store has served me very well for over 10 years. I love that they always run excellent weekly sales ads that accurately advertise some of the best products available at prices that rival most competitors. This entire store is staffed by many helpful employees who know their stations very well. I shop throughout many areas of this store, but especially love the deli area, they stock some terrific cold cuts and assemble some very satisfying sandwiches. I'd highly recommend shopping here for your grocery needs, but just know that this store can get jam packed with customers around holidays and special events. read more

Don't really care for this store. Not very clean, has a weird smell to it..just a little "off" all the way around. Cashiers and baggers are not professional either my boyfriend and I went there last week and the cashier and bagger were playing a joke on the customers by putting plastic cockroaches on the change drawer. When the customer in front of us went to reach for her change she screamed out because there was a fake cockroach there. This store has really gone downhill. It's sad because savemart used the be 'the' place to shop. We had three here in Merced at one time. Growing up in Merced and shopping here for Many years I can say the cashiers were friendly and fast - now days the cashiers for the most part seem more interested in socializing with each other and the baggers. The deli counter has very unpredictable service. Sometimes it's really good but several times the attendants have totally ignored me. Unfortunately more and more I find myself shopping elsewhere. bakery sucks. ordered a custom birthday cake for wife a whole day in advance and when i go to pick the cake up the next day my cake is sitting on top of display case with the box open. i don't know how long it had been sitting there and to make matters worse the edible image that i paid to be on the cake was not on the cake and the person who took my order wasn't there so i jad no choice but to take the plain jane cake and a 5 dollar refund for not having athe edible image. i will never shop at another save mart again. especially in merced california...straight lames!!!! read more

Just shopped for the first time. All employees were helpful and the prices were decent. Store was well stocked and the employees on aisles all asked if I was finding everything. Store was extremely clean including what looked like brand new red shopping carts I could actually steer! read more

Out of the 3 save mart locations we have in merced it ranks the 2nd cleanest of the 3 but the customer service here can be hit and miss.. I have seen cashiers say some of the rudest things to their customers and/or give dirty looks to people using food stamps or WIC coupons.. don't get me wrong some of the staff here is wonderful and very helpful but that's a small percentage.. this location gets 2 stars for being clean & closer to my area but I would rather still go to raleys even though prices are a little higher the store is 10X more clean and the staff is beyond exceptional. read more

save Mart is probably a good location and location is everything location location when it comes to real estate it's a good location at g and Olive towards the high school to pick up groceries and get cash back from the cashiers without a surcharge from an ATM at a 7-Eleven or ATM at a gas station at the Mobil gas station their prices aren't the lowest in town but you pay a little bit more for a little bit more convenience Costco is probably the cheapest there are other places that are also comfortable and price or lower like food 4 less although the quality at food for less is not quite as good as at Costco and Costco has enormous amounts of things that you have to buy or great quantities so you have to package all your groceries separately in order to make the best benefit from your grocery shopping experience there read more

Every time I accidentally walk into Save Mart, it's like I've stumbled into an alternate universe. It's an alternate universe where everyone is always stoned and no one recognizes your existence. The checkers at Save Mart are the worst. They are constantly talking with each other about inappropriate things like getting drunk after work. The customers at Save Mart are literally drooling on themselves at all times (this is not a joke, I have seen people foaming at the mouth several times). I don't really understand this, because Save Mart really isn't in a bad part of town. Save Mart is seriously the worst grocery store I've ever been to. I usually don't shop at Save Mart every week but I do a few times a Month. I have always ordered my cakes Birthdays, Anniversary's, Graduation's here though. I also work for a large company and order all our cakes here. Today I went in to order a Graduation cake and the customer service was horrible. No one asked to help us, every one in the back were just standing around having conversations. I finally go someone to help. When I started ordering my cake for a 2019 Graduation, the only choices they had were for 2018!! They started with they haven't received their 2019 stuff until June! I told them College Graduations are happening now and their only excuse was "I don't know, we haven't received our stuff". They were not even concerned at how unprofessional that was. You're a bakery that should be prepared for events at the time of the year they happen! I don't work at a Bakery and even I would know to not have examples of cakes that are for last year!! I left and told them I would go somewhere else where I can buy a cake that says 2019. Due to their lack of concern, I will never order another cake from them and I will take all my business to Raleys. Love the prices, there are always great deals. I often stop by after my evening classes to pick up quick items. The only pitfall of this SaveMart is that there is never any rotisserie chickens after 8 pm. For the last couple of months, I've been going in to see if they might have one after my Wednesday classes. Not once has there been any.
