I came here briefly to pickup a salad kit for a work party and a quick chicken meal to share with my wife for lunch. I did have to wait a while before I got my number called but that's the nature of busy hour, however my primary complaint was with the chicken strips/tenders I got from the deli area. I've had a lot of great fried chicken in my life and a lot of bad fried chicken...unfortunately, I have to say this was probably the worst fried chicken I'd ever had and I don't say that lightly. Terrible! I have shopped at Raley's for 20+ years. I live within a mile of Raley's. I have spent thousands of dollars and hours at Raley's. Not any more. Raley's has replaced workers with self check out. There aren't any employees on the floor, you're on your own. The corporate office has killed the store. Raley's has the highest prices in town. They offer zero customer service. The deli is inefficient and inconsistent. The pharmacy is unreliable and much more expensive. The meat is incredibly more expensive than other stores. The bread isle is typically empty. Good luck finding affordable cereal or produce. Raley's hardly employs checkers and zero baggers. Before 2020, Raley's was a great store. It was more expensive than other grocery stores, but it was worth it. The store was clean. The workers were helpful. There were workers who would help you in the deli, meat department, produce isle, etc. Now Raley's has the highest prices, 1/4 of the employees, the store is unkempt, the parking lot stinks of weed. I can't believe we must self check while the two actual workers goof around the self check register when they should open a check out line. It's ridiculous! Do yourself a favor, go to Save Mart, Ranch San Miguel, Food for Less, Grocery Outlet, Save More, FoodMaxx, Sprouts, or wherever. You'll get the better service with much better prices. We used to pay more for a better shopping experience, now that is gone, and so am I. This review does not reflect on James. James is the only positive entity of the Merced Raley's. Raley's is undoubtedly my top-choice grocery store in Merced. Not only is the quality very consistent and top-notch, the prices are also very fair. The meat selection is great and cheap, and the produce here is always fresh. The deli here is awesome! You can build your own sandwich with a wide variety of ingredients or select from their menu of sandwiches. I also really enjoy their fried chicken and found that it is extremely affordable and still of quality when compared to places like Popeyes, KFC, or El Pollo Loco. The sushi here is also of decent quality and way more affordable than Sushi Cuisine next door. They have the widest and cheapest selection of alcohol, and not all of it is locked up like at SaveMart or FoodMaxx. I like my liquor so it's very convenient that I can just go grab it without having to wait for an attendant to grab a key and help me out. I live pretty close by and honestly have a small fridge at home. What this means is that I go grocery shopping a lot and will only do small hauls at a time. I love the convenience of Raley's self-checkout, and regardless, the cashier lines here move pretty fast. The staff here are pleasant. I see them almost every other day and my interactions are always pretty decent if I'm not just doing self-checkout and going in-n-out. Don't forget to download the Raley's app and become a Something Extra member! Some of these member deals are SUCH a steal and you may have to login to the app first to CLIP your coupon to get the deals. 6/27/2025, I always order groceries from Merced Raleys when I'm in town. Their items are quality. The only issue today was I ordered 20 items at 0942. My DoorDash Driver Larry locked his keys in his trunk at Sprouts. My delivery finally arrived at 1150 AM. The swordfish and surimi flakes were delivered hot after being locked in the trunk of the delivery driver's car in this summers 100 degree heat. read more

Came to Raley's to grab a cup of coffee and a pastry. The customer service was ok. A guy who was putting something into the oven, turned around, looked at me and walked away. He could've at least asked if I needed help or let someone know that a customer is at the counter. An employee, who I assume was in management, asked if I had been helped yet. We don't have a Raley's in Bakersfield, but we stopped at this one to pick up a few things and this store is organized and clean. My son was feeling under the weather so I stopped by to grab a few things and the produce is really nice. Fruits and veggies looks fresh. I shopped here twice when I came to Merced for the weekend and both times the employees were not only accommodating, they were friendly and fun. Management must be doing something right. It was refreshing. I'm from Southern CA and have seen such a downturn in employee happiness, it's sadly apparent in customer service interactions (where I live) that people are not being managed with respect for their quality of life. Hello, I had an issue with another grocery store (Savemart)in Merced. I had ordered chicken from savemart and an hour after I ordered it they called me and told me that they couldn't make it so I called Raley's and instantly Raley's ( Merced) said not a problem. It was 16 pieces they could make it and have it done by 5:30. The lady was extremely nice very professional, I was upset with Savemart about canceling my order after they said they can make it. But Raley's really came through for me in a tight pinch . I had a small group class and i really needed this chicken for a small group class. Thank you Raleys. Honestly haven't had one is a long time, I was at self-checkout and my husband and I dropped fresh blueberries. Those blueberries rolled all over the place! It was super embarrassing, people were stepping on them, it was a mess. DIEGO a clerk came and helped us right away, he swept all the blueberries and made sure that were okay (with the embarrassment and all). There are never enough checkout lanes open. It's like they are trying to force you into the self-check and don't open more until the lines are backed up for miles. And there's no reason to go to Raleys if you don't have to. People act like it's some high-class place but there's nothing special about it, they just charge more for the same stuff you can get anywhere. I purchased beef here for the first time. I open it the next day to use, and it's rotting from the inside out and smelling weird. Mind you that the sell by date was 3 days away when I opened it. For comparison, I bought wagyu from a supermarket in the Bay Area four days prior and opened it the same day as the Raley's beef without any rotting or smell. Raley's should re-think their security situation. The weird, paranoid cop energy given off by their security guards makes people uncomfortable and creates a bad shopping experience. I've heard from multiple friends, usually people of color, that they have been followed around the store by the security staff. Not chill. Another friend told me that one of the security guards (the rat-faced dude with the pony tail) has followed her around the store asking her if she wants to come back to his house. Very creepy, not chill. Raleys has always been the over-priced immaculately clean shopping experience for well-to-do Northsiders, and there's nothing inherently wrong with that. What IS wrong is the exclusion of certain groups based only on ethnicity and age. A grocery store is a neutral area where everyone (not just white Boomers), should feel welcome, safe and respected. read more

I used to live in Merced and have been coming here since 2001. Raley's has excellent customer service and quality of food and produce. Their wine selection is extensive as well. I enjoy coming to this store for some items. The store is generally pricey however offers a plentiful amount of edible goods. They have the best vegan or vegetarian items that locally are hard to find - but found here! I remember I wanted to try vegan products and had a difficult time finding them, now I find them here by the vegetable aisle on the left with all the nondairy cheeses, meats etc! Raleys also has warm foods that you can buy on the go. I enjoy purchasing the chicken noodle soup and clam Chowder whenever I am sick! Tastes amazing! Recently my hubs got me my birthday cake, flowers and my 22 balloons and he said it was really expensive however it was worth it because the flowers and the cake were beautiful. The cake itself was a blue frosting, with butterflies. The inside was chocolate with a light layer of cherry or raspberry pureee. Everyone enjoyed it. It's not too sweet or too plain! Additionally, I enjoy coming to Raleys to shop my packages. The USPS is fairly far in Merced so having it here at this local raleys is convenient! Kim assisted me a lot and she does everything quickly! She knows how to scan efficiently, weigh the package and give me the receipt. This is for the. Asked and bakery only. I asked for the drip in pink and a pink bow. This is what I received for a baby shower cake for a girl! The drip is awful with multiple layers in different shades of pink. I would have been way better off getting a display. Instructions clearly stated if they didn't know how to do the drip to call me and I would be okay with pink borders which I told the guy over the phone. There are also U.S. Post Office services offered here, and a pharmacy. Floral/balloon department, too. Basically, you can get almost anything here. The store is kept very clean, it's pretty quiet in there, and the staff are always really friendly and respectful. They recently added a big seating area which I think is nice. It has plenty of space, wall outlets to charge your things, a microwave, a toaster, and napkin dispensers everywhere. I decided to walk into this store in Merced because the bubble tea store told me I had to wait one hour, even though their doors were wide open and no hours were posted. That was fine with me because their prices were outrageous and I knew there would be another choice for a hot beverage and snack if I kept walking through the strip mall.
