Save Mart Auburn's self checkout area is a joke. Supposedly designed for speedy checkout for under 15 items, it often takes longer than going thru a cashier because you have to wait for someone to come and clear the "wait for attendant" notification when it won't weigh your bag or an item isn't in the computer and doesn't have a bar code or identification label. I also shop at Raley's, Walmart, Target, and other places--ALL have dedicated personnel at their self check areas. I've called the Auburn SM store manager about this problem and was told that the "machines are too sensitive". If they know the machines are too sensitive then address the problem with someone dedicated to help shoppers. Bottom line is I'm done. Although this store is closest to me I'm taking my money to shop elsewhere. read more

It seems like they are jacking up the prices and then putting some colorful discount tag to appears as if you're getting some great deal when you're not. Disgusting Corporate BS!! Two stars for having a bathroom and redbox. read more

Sad! I love the Grass Valley store but this one is terrible and don't expect any help at the deli! The employees are scattered and can't keep track of who is next, I have been waiting for them to finish my order for 15 minutes and have watched the two woman in the deli help four other people before helping the woman that was right after me! They keep saying, we'll be right with you, and then keep helping other people who walk up to the counter in front of her! Terrible. read more

I have gone to this store numerous times because of convenience. Compared to other grocery stores around (Raley's, Safeway, etc.) they are really lacking. There isn't a huge selection like their competitor Safeway, and it's outdated. My biggest issue is their bakery. I used to love this store, they had pretty much everything and at good prices. Plus, it's the closest grocery store to my home. But more and more over the last few years, the shelves are TERRIBLY stocked, so 80% of the time, an item I'm looking for in particular is completely out. There are particular flavors of oatmeal or tea that they just neglect to restock for weeks at a time (for just a couple examples). They also continue to completely get rid of popular items. I can no longer find regular yogurt parfaits because they have replaced them ALL with Greek yogurt. I'm going to have to start shopping elsewhere because it's usually just a waste of time to even go in there. Might as well shop at Grocery Outlet for all the inconsistency. read more

Had to pick up a few things for a party last minute and didn't want to go to Walmart in rocklin. NO PARKING. GOT THE CART THE FUNKY WHEEL (that won't make right turns), no help when I couldn't find the item I was looking for....aisle ten is NOT AN ANSWER, and an eye roll at the checkout. Stood in line while checkers up front talked to each other. Next time I will go to Walmart. It took just as much time. And they have a bigger parking lot. Picked up Caesar salad at the deli counter last night and for the third time in a row it was really bad. Lettuce was not crisp, dressing was bland, croutons were soggy. It didn't used to be that way. Took one bite and threw the rest away. Would have been better off to pick up the Caesar salad kit in the produce dept. read more

Super unfriendly, consistently bad attitude/impatient/unwilling to listen or answer questions in a friendly way. They seem to not care if you shop there or not and have really irritated attitudes, if you have a question about price, a bag, or anything. Repeatedly this occurs or I would not post. It is the most unfriendly grocery store in Auburn and actually the most unfriendly I have ever shopped at. It is really sad- if they would just treat their customers with politeness, patience, and be willing to not act put out when a question is asked, they would be more successful, but I think maybe they don't care about the individual customer. We avoid the store unless they have a really good special and then steel ourselves to avoid talking to them if possible. This has happened for over 10 years and the store just has a bad vibe from the entire group. We are not slouches- they should treat people nicer. read more

This store is the closest to my house so I go there often. The customer service is a joke. The cashiers don't acknowledge you. They talk to each other or the person bagging (usually gossip about other employees). This drives me crazy. The deli smells like old fry oil. The produce people are the nicest but I'm often disappointed in the quality. I could over look everything except the rude employees. I watched one cashier roll her eyes at a person asking for the code to get into the bathroom. She didn't even try to hide how annoyed she was. read more

The people are not unfriendly.. But definitely are not customer service enthusiasts. Prices are insanely marked up outside of their beer section which is reasonably priced. They have the nerve to have their employees inform you that "you saved x dollars shopping here!" when in reality you obviously just spent way too much for way too little. Grocery Outlet is down the street and is at least reasonably priced if nothing else. read more

I don't shop here often. They have some good sales and a good price on milk. It annoys me that rather than posting the sale price, they tend to post how much you save. read more
