It's a regular stop off for me in my frequent travels between the S.F. Bay Area and the Reno-Tahoe area. Colfax being roughly the half-way point along the I-80 Route. Rarely an issue with snowfall on the ground here in inclement weather seasons. They've got snacks, candy, chilled 20oz. bottles of purified waters for $1 and just about any other sundry item you could need or think of. All at or near typical dollar store prices. I usually find myself needing to use their public restroom from travel. The ladies working will mostly oblige, unless one or all of them are having a bad day. Then, they might tell you BOTH bathrooms are "out of service" as they did during my last visit. Drats! Legs crossed tightly. And generally, there'll only be one cashier available at all times. With 10 or more customers in line, staff may or may not open the former self-check station. But, an associate has to monitor and scan each item for you. read more

nice store rude cashiers. prices are expensive. nothing is a dollar besides off brand stuff. i have bought pokemon before and they let me buy two tins the next day it changed to one i asked why and they said they never sell 2 packs to people which is untrue because i have bought 2 plenty of times. when i asked what changed she ignored me and was flipping and handling my stuff agressive didn't give me my change back and handed me the receipt very rudely. the box says 2 per person but they don't care. very rude and snobby. both the two old ladies and rude. don't go read more

First time in... I dropped over $200. Then I notice I got ripped off and paid $24 over the discounted items. Some of the cashiers were rude when I asked them to look into it as if I'm causing problems because their sale items don't ring up on sale. I had to make my claim to the errors because they will argue about it all and not want to refund you for a buy one get one free discount. Apple juice rang up normal price but the sale is on apple juice not everything else. What a scam. I was told corporate at dollar general likes to do that because it confuses the customer so they don't have to refund you The items you bought on sale. I'm still out $19 and if they refunded me I would be back but dollar general just lost a customer who stock piles which would have increased their sales over $6000 per year since I moved here. I'd rather pay extra gas go down the hill and let colfax loose revenue to give my money to a different store with family values. Not ripping off families like dollar general does at this store. what a horrible way to do accounting! advertise sales then argue with the customer when they didn't get a sales price. My loss -$19. I was happy to spot a Dollar General in Colfax having been in some before. It had been awhile so I was a little surprised it isn't at all like a regular dollar store... How so you ask? Almost nothing is $1 So... Prices all over the map. That said you may find what you need it is a pretty big store and very well stocked, clean with plenty of free parking. For many of those purchases I want to make in between Costco runs, Dollar Gen is my go-to. The Colfax store carries a great variety of product, including seasonal items. Their sales are real good and receipts usually have a coupon for $5 off of a $25 purchase (excluding liquor and cigarettes) if you make it back on Saturday. I'm always surprised at what they are able to stock in that store and at how great the prices are. We get our bread, milk, eggs, beer, soda, chips, ice cream, pharmaceuticals, pet treats and toys, candy, etc. The store is always clean and well-organized and the stockers and checkers are friendly. Your remodel was a blazing stinko! PeoPLE they got rid of people and replaced them with self-check... If I wanted to check myself out and hassle with those crummy machines I would have stayed in the Grocery Union. The line today Jan 17, 2023 had many people in while stockers/manager ran all over and took breaks outside even walked right by the line to get outside to hang out with each other. The lady that had been on the floor at 9 amish finally came along and asked if anyone was using a card most people weren't but I was... she checked me out coldly no a smile or a hi or kiss my you know what and then barely could mutter a unsmiling thank you. They raised all their prices to cover their remodel and now the same as Holiday:(((( They took out 3 check stands that had people working at them and now only have 1 living Person checking out. The line is always long. The lady who was running the 1 "REAL" check stand was very friendly to everyone not like the others wandering around putting this and that here and there while the line grew and grew. read more

Dollar General is a store that is good to get snack at, but anything else there is bad quality.

The store was very clean. Very well organized. Great prices. I received a new debit card and used it for the first time and only time at this store and my credit card number was stolen the next day. Not sure if it was a coincidence but I would not recommend using your credit/debit card here. Just a heads up. The employees work non-stop trying to keep u with the volume of product that comes in constantly.. I live local and everyone I talk to locally is thrilled the store is in Colfax.. it is clean and well organized .. compared to a lot of other discount stores I shop at ... Because I shop there several times a week {ever since it 's opening} i've seen employees have to put up with a lot of crap from shoppers.. The only complaint i would have is the isle can be so full of new product waiting to be stocked but then again, I'm sure happy that the store has so much turn over in items.. more choices!! I went into this store three weeks ago, after traveling from Reno because my dogs were agitated from the long ride. As soon as I walked into the store a white woman tattooed arms and all stated " oh look who's lost, are you lost, can I help you " I smiled at her and said, no I'm not lost I'm just shopping around for my dogs and I asked her if they sold make-up ( DG usually has some good make-up at really discounted prices ) she responded by saying; what lil make-up we do have is in the corner on the wall. Since I was shopping she didn't want to help me. If I had been lost she would have been more than happy to help just to get me out of the store. Two other white women walked into the store and this huge white guy, 6'4" 300lbs come from the side rear of the store and ask one of the women " can I help you, how are you today " by this time I'm feeling very uncomfortable so I forgot about the doggie snacks and water. I approached the checkstand and the white woman didn't bother to help me until one of the other white women were ready to be checked out. I will never ever shop at another DG in my living life. I felt like I was in Mississippi the deep south somewhere. Before leaving I stated; I drive a Lexus equipped with GPS, video and camera's front, side and rear, so I'm not worried about getting lost but thanks for your concern. If looks could kill I would be dead how she looked at me after I checked her racist ass. I guess that's what I get for stopping in a little town store off the side of the freeway thinking it was okay for my black self to spend my black money in their white's only store.
