I enjoy coming to Save Mart over their competitors for many reasons. Recently, I stopped here before heading home in search of dinner. I grabbed a cart as I walked in because if anyone knows me, I'll end up grabbing a few nights of dinner and then walk around with it loaded up in my hands. As you walk in on the left side of the store, there is some of their produce that is usually in the ad right in front of you. Bakery is farther to the left. No I'm not going to give you the layout of the store, lol I was on a mission for dinner, so I headed to the back of the store where the meat department is. In my opinion, compared to the other grocery store competitors in the Auburn area, Save Mart has much better quality meat. After looking over the selections, I decided I was going to make peanut butter cheeseburgers when I got home. After deciding on the entree, I went for the rest of the ingredients.... and instead of smooth creamy peanut butter, I got crunchy. I also picked up the buns, Velveeta, a tomato, and Kinders mild BBQ sauce for that touch of tang. The man at the check out counter is always so friendly. He has given me great advice and I look forward to our conversations when I get to check out. Every one of my whole store experiences here is always so friendly. (Even after the meat dept closes, and the butcher is cleaning up, she still comes out to ask if I needed any help while I am trying to decide on dinner.) I used the Dukes mayo I had at home to toast my buns first. Then I shaped my hamburger meat into patties. The meat was fresh and soft. I only use salt & pepper. After cooking the meat and adding a thin slice of cheese, I started building my peanut butter cheeseburger. Thin layer of Dukes mayo, slice tomato, burger patty, and cheese. Under the top bun, I put on the chunky peanut butter with a good amount of drizzled Kinders mild BBQ. This one of a kind peanut butter cheeseburger was made possible with the tasty ingredients I bought from Save Mart. With meat cooked exactly the way I wanted it, BECAUSE of the freshness of Save Mart... it turned into the best peanut butter burger I have ever created read more

You know how late at night you want whatever you want and you have just enough time to get there (based on when they "close". So you scramble to get there to get that one item. You're walking up up to the doors w/4-5 mins to go (but you made it on time if they close at the posted) and the doors are locked. WT_?? I manually open the doors walk in and they say "sorry sir we close 5 minutes early so we can leave at 11:00. That's Bull dung!! Then they should post that they close at 10:55. It doesn't have a category that says what time do employees check in or check out. Very disappointed SaveFart but not surprised. Customer 1st service is loooong gone these days. read more

The prices are outrageous. There are signs all over the store stating there are reduced prices on thousands of items. Reduced from what? Raleys is one of the most expensive grocers, and SaveMart is more expensive on "thousands of items" than Raleys. Ridiculous. read more

I stopped in here at the Savemart on my way back to the Sac area from Reno to maybe get some fried chicken from the service deli for my fried I was visiting in Sac. What I discovered at the deli were they have fresh baked Chicken Pot Pies! I love Chicken Pot pies, and these looked really good, way netter then those frozen Marie Callendar pies and you know what? Waaay less salty too. I bought them hot and took them to my friend. We didn't even ned to reheat them, they stayed hot enough to enjoy 20 minutes later. There was a ton of meat and nice gravy under a super flaky crust. They use the rotissori chicken meat they don't sell to make the filling. Not a lot of filler veggies in there either, just nice meat. If you get to your local SaveMart, check out the service where they sell the fries chicken and get some of those pies ... just $5.00 each! read more

The new floor layout is horrible. And I'm finding it's cheaper to shop at other stores than here. And the digital coupons, that is a horrible idea! I don't need a cashier forcing me to download an app, just get a good deal. I think this a bad business practice for ALL grocery stores. But Save Mart seems to use it more. And it show how disconnected they are with their customers. If it's on sale, I shouldn't have to bring my phone to the store to get the sale. You have officially lost this customer. read more

Ive been going here for the past 35 yrs. The new store layout is terrible. I also counted 9 separate aisles with just beverages. Is Auburn really that thirsty? 0 stars! Drove after work to Savemart in Auburn California, to buy advertised 5 cent corn. While checking out, 2 white male cashiers at 2 different checkout stands, both rudely told me YOU HAVE TO SPEND $50 to get the 5 cent corn! It's on the sign! I didn't see it on the sign & produce guy didn't either! Also, the customer in the next checkout also said the exact same thing! I told the cashier I would be nice, & return mine & the other customer's corn back to stock, & the male cashier rudely said No, we'll do that! I told the 2 cashiers they were treating me like I was a thief, or trying to get away with something, & I'm a Senior & don't have time for that! *I drove all the way to Savemart to buy the 5 cent corn! What a waste of my time & gas! Normal customer service business process is to give it to the customer for that advertised price, 5 cents, especially since the produce employee & other customers also did not see the must spend $50. Finally, at the end, all the cashier could say is yeah, it is tiny print! Cashiers acted like it was gold, when it was just corn! I don't appreciate being treated like dirt!!! Also, I noticed in comments replies by "Savemart Business Manager", state that compliments are forwarded to Corporate Management & critical feedback comments are forwarded to Store Manager. 5 Stars for friendly and helpful staff overall; special shout out to the Deli, Meat and Produce staff. Thanks for being there and keep up the good work! Downside: (and for this I only give 2 stars) aisles and end caps are very cluttered and congested with promotional items. Shopping takes too long because we are all trying not to bash into these damn displays or bash into fellow shoppers while avoiding these displays! Putting it plainly: this creates a needless hazard for many people and a a constant need for cleanups when crashes occur and gooey stuff splashes around. As evidenced recently when my husband had to swing left to give space for a lady in a scooter and had a close encounter with the big display featuring glass jars of bright red Ham Glaze. It didn't end well for that portion of the Glaze display but the staff jumped right in to take care of the problem and we had a good chuckle because even though mortifying it could have been worse, right? Actually wondering if these displays and congestion may some type of FD violation. Imagine trying to get a gurney in and out rapidly without knocking over display items and having items bash a patient? Or the folks sitting low in the scooters potentially getting bonked in the face by these items? Save Mart: you have great people on the ground but please step up your game and reduce the display congestion in your aisles. read more

Love this store been going here for 30 years,but recently they have a female manager with curly hair that is arrogant,and is very bossy, You can tell knowbody really likes her especially co workers shes one of those toxic manager types. She's been rude to me a few times using profanity and belittling behavior, and I'm just a frequent custome.Overall you can just ignore it and if you run into her she may snap at you or be helpful really feel bad for her co workers. read more

Awful customer service! Not one of the employees acknowledge you. They either stand there looking into outer space or talking with each. Even when you ask a question you get a blank look. I only shop there because I like their bakery, But I'm not sure it's worth it for the lack of customer. I went again today. 7/26. There was blood all over the scanner from my meat in the self check out. When I told the customer service person standing there. She refused to acknowledge me. Just stood there and finally she got some paper towels but zero acknowledgement. Told the manager. She didn't see to care either. No apologies. Not even I will be sure to mention it to my employees. My wife and I came into town, AUBURN, CA again today. We needed to get our dog's nails clipped. Well, she needed to stop in at Save Mart for 1-2 items. She came out with five bags of goodies!!! She had just been in your store yesterday and emptied her wallet!! LOL She is really happy when she shops at your store and I get to reap the rewards, plus play monopoly haha!! Your cashier that is tall, middle aged, guy with glasses, and light brown hair is such a smarta$$. I have had MULTIPLE instances with him being condescending, demeaning, and facetious. I think he has the notion in his head he is better than everyone and talks to people like they are idiots Even if you aren't talking to him he will eavesdrop and include himself in our your conversation to be a jack a$$. Mind your own business dude and work on your customer service. I will get his name next time to add to the review. I like the convenience of this location but the customer service is terrible! There are never enough cashiers and long lines which is why I usually choose to do self checkout. However, there are ALWAYS issues with self check and never anyone available to help you. I always have to flag someone down and then they have attitude with me. So annoying! Try hiring more staff. read more

Just leaving. Was at the checkout line, one cashier was working. The cashier was finishing with her one customer. They were talking. And talking. We just stood there with our two items. All the other stores in the area were closed and I was trying to buy some Crispin. I was driving back from a family dinner with 2 of my cousins . One of them didn't have her ID with her since she wasn't driving home from dinner and didn't think she would need it. They wouldn't sell me the alcohol because she didn't have her ID. So I drove her home and returned with my other cousin 30 minutes later and they still wouldn't sell to us. When we respectfully questioned why, the lady with the crew cut (at the customer service counter) became super rude and repeatedly interrupted me. Extremely disappointed with this visit. Let start by saying my family and I have been shopping Savemart since they came to Auburn. They aren't the cheapest though are local and convenient. We have noticed their inventory control is terrible. Often out of basics. Today is the last day I will ever step a foot in that store. My problem is I am an elderly man that has bladder problems and needed to use the restroom terribly so. I asked for the bathroom code to get in and was told it was locked for the day. No usage. I had to leave the store go out to My truck and use a bottle. Shame on you Savemart. You are very quick to take the communities money and not offer the basics. Very disappointing. I've tried every major grocery store in Auburn and have to say this is my favorite. Sure, it's not new, or fancy, but neither am I. The layout is 'old-school,' meaning it's the layout that has always worked and makes sense to the most shoppers. They won't be plopping a coffee shop right in the middle of the deli area to mess with people who are actually trying to shop like that other store (not naming names), and they won't hide the frickin butter in the middle of the baking aisle just to make you scratch your head (ok, I will name names, looking at you Bel Air!). At SaveMart I've found almost all of my staples easily (still addicted to Raley's brand sparkling water, dang them), and most things are reasonably priced. The produce is fresh and healthy-looking, and there is a nice variety. The selection of beer/wine/booze isn't bad and prices are competitive. The store is clean; every time I've been, there are employees cleaning, restocking, and just generally being industrious. Most important for me though, is the vibe is never manic, at least at the times I've been. The other major groceries in the area always seem to be filled with people rushing around wildly regardless of when you visit. Maybe they can't find the frickin butter either. At SaveMart, I can park easily, get a cart, and stroll amiably along, crossing things off my list, before making my purchases and leaving. Simple. Easy. Like it should be. So keep doing what you're doing SaveMart. I'll be a loyal customer for years to come. Just don't move the butter. read more

I'm just over this grocery store. It's the closet one to me so it's really convenient for us but they have just let me down one too many times. It's always busy and they never have enough cashiers, one of their damn self checkout machines is always broken and besides a few cashiers that are kind and polite they have some angry, rude cashiers. This is not the worst part though, I can overlook someone having a bad a day, what I can't overlook is the expired beef broth, corn tortillas and yogurt we have purchased from this damn grocery store. To top that all off it was the $15 steak that was spoiled and smelled so bad my husband had to take it directly out to the garbage!! Ugh.... Never again, they have lost my business for good and I tell all I know to avoid this place. On a good note I now check the expiration date on everything that goes into my cart. read more

To make matters worse, when I contacted headquarters both via phone and email about this very valid concern, I was assured someone would get back to me. Save Mart Auburn's self checkout area is a joke. Supposedly designed for speedy checkout for under 15 items, it often takes longer than going thru a cashier because you have to wait for someone to come and clear the "wait for attendant" notification when it won't weigh your bag or an item isn't in the computer and doesn't have a bar code or identification label. I also shop at Raley's, Walmart, Target, and other places--ALL have dedicated personnel at their self check areas. I've called the Auburn SM store manager about this problem and was told that the "machines are too sensitive". If they know the machines are too sensitive then address the problem with someone dedicated to help shoppers. Bottom line is I'm done. Although this store is closest to me I'm taking my money to shop elsewhere. read more
