I'm all for a bee store - any kind of store that specializes in honey and bees! It was gorgeous from the moment I walked in - such a huge space with so many offerings! There are endless varieties of honey to consume, along with samples too. And then there are body products with testers available. The real kicker was the back area which looked like a small bar. They were serving up mead, which is completely new to me (beyond Robin Hood). And they were offering mead flights, so we had to say yes to that! The kids enjoyed Frozen Lemonade made with Colorado honey - 16 oz for $5.75. Not only do they offer two flight variations, but you can also sample any mead as a 4 - 8 oz pour or bottle/crowler. We opted for the Elevated Colorado Meads, which includes 6 for $24. Since they had 7 on the menu, we added that one for an additional $4. It was fun to sample these local meads and now I know what I like and will be on the lookout for mead elsewhere. They also offer a Royalty Rewards program, and you get a free lip balm for signing up. Great tasting experience for both meads and honey. Everyone was extremely friendly. I tried several honeys and ended up picking Black Sage Honey. I'll have to order some more later since they ship out of state. I tried the mead flight - SBC Traditional, Orange Blossom Traditional, Black Madonna, Rhythm and Blues, Grateful Head, and Prickly Pear. Wish I could spend more time here, but now that I know there are other locations closer to me, I'm already planning to make an intentional trip! read more

It is located in the back and is so cool! An entire Mead bar, complete with flights to try. Every pour was delicious and refreshing. I had forgotten how much I enjoy Mead. I went with my family to Boulder to spend a few hours. My daughter-in-law particularly wanted to go to this store. She wanted to get some of the chapsticks. I ended up buying a couple and am enjoying them - they were $4 a piece as I recall. The store is beautiful inside. They have some non alcoholic drinks (I had a coffee) and offer alcoholic drinks as well. All of the sales associates were very friendly. This is a really cool place to stop in. Like all other establishments during this pandemic, they provide you with hand sanitizer at the door and ask you to use it before entering. They have many bee-related items such as hand soap, honey, lip balm, hand balm, and much more. My favorite hand soap that I got to try was with lavender. In the back, they have mead for your consumption and purchase. We did a med tasting. They offer a certain variety on top and others that you can add into the tasting as well. You can substitute ones that are on tap for ones that aren't but are listed on their other menu. Due to mask rules, and this not being a official eating/restaurant establishment, they had a rule about only 20 minutes with your mask off in the vicinity of your companions. We were instructed to take three sips of each mead in order to get the full flavor and effect of each unique creation. The cool thing is if you like what is on tap, they offer the mead in crawlers and growlers to-go! read more

Great shop on Pearl Street to stop in and enjoy sampling all their honey. My favorite is the whipped chocolate. Buy a jar to take home and enjoy. It is excellent on fresh strawberries. Also the whipped lemon , raw local and the Tupelo ended up coming home with us on this visit. It is a bit pricey but so yummy and they make great gifts. A surprise free jar of Blueberry jam when we checked out was a sweet surprise. The mead tasting room should be open by September 2018. We plan to come back for a mead flight. read more

This is the other must-stop on Pearl for visitors. (Bookstore is the other) Start off straight to the back of the store if there's room: $10 for a sampler of mead tastings.. If they're busy, honey sampling in the front. We left with a lot of product and the best ones I had bought a whim: HONEYCOMB! They threw in two packages of free crackers to go with and they were the perfect accompaniment.. little bit of salt for the sweet. We devoured half the small comb back at the hotel. Also purchased a few of the lip balms out of immediate need but it quickly became addictive.. really one of the best balms I've ever had. (Bought the key lime.. smell them all as some are stronger than others.. key lime is light) Also bought the small whipped honey sampler, (3), all of which we sampled . It's hard to pick just three because they are all good so it was easier that the store did it for e are been free tattoos at the register, lol... which made my daughter's day so there you go! (And she's 18) You will see their products elsewhere in town, at other stores, but nothing beats their storefront. read more

I don't review often, when I do I'm either extremely satisfied or upset to my core. In that case it was the latter. Me and my mom were visiting the town and loved it in there. We wanted to buy a lip balm. When we paid for it, the shop assistant who I believe is also the owner of the company, was extremely unfriendly and arrogant. After the purchase we kept talking about the bizarre and rude behavior of his. We fell in love with the lip balm and went back a couple of days later to buy more of them. The same man was all alone at a big store like last time handling purchases at the front and wine tasting at the back room so everybody was waiting to be served, exactly like the first time. That's not what really upset me. What upset me, disturbed me, was how he behaved and talked to me and my mother. We wanted to pay for the goods. When he finally came after serving the next rounds of wine, he was instantly unfriendly, rude and arrogant. Both me and my mom were literally shocked. Did we disturb him by purchasing goods from his store?! He ruined our beautiful day with his hostile behavior and utter disdain. Where there weren't bottles there were skin care products, honey combs (yum!) & even cheese. There was a little cafe/wine bar of sorts in the far back of the establishment that looked pretty hip. Best part about the store is that they had nearly a dozen items to taste! Incredible how honey from different areas looks and tastes so different. Their interior design team absolutely crushed it and it's a blast looking and walking through the floor plan layout. A++ design! Their products rock too! They have everything you could think of related to bees/honey. Honey sticks, honeycomb, honey butter, Meade, lotions, lip balms, clothing etc. it's amazing just to look at everything but you're also able to sample just about anything you want! Make sure you make your way to the back of the store because they have their own bar where you can order coffee and take a Meade history class, complete with tastings! Randomly walked into a honey store with beautiful ambiance. Their honey display was perfectly placed along the wall and which jars so big you had to take a second look at what they were selling. Walked to the back to find out they have a cafe and mead bar. Didn't take long to find out about their tasting menu. Only $12! And you get 6 flavors to try from. My favorite would be the peach or boysenberry! Least enjoyed was bourbon since the hint of bourbon was strong compared to the rest. Grabbed two cans Togo $21.76 w/tax each. I'm going to focus on the Mead Tasting Room, located in the back of this spacious business, a really fun, hidden gem. The Savannah Bee Company has a beautiful interior with a lot of honey-based options, but a friend and I stumbled into a chalkboard sign out on front of this Pearl Street Mall store that brought us inside - The Mead Tasting Room. In case you didn't know, mean is the oldest fermented beverage, and its key ingredient is honey. This store has a terrific tasting bar, and for just $10 you can enjoy trying six different types of mead in one setting. Cate was terrific as the tasting host, a pleasant personality with keen knowledge and wonderful interactive skills. Drinks ranged in alcohol content from 6% to 12%, and the tastings varied in texture and origin. Started with SBC Sourwood, the strongest alcohol content, then moved on to Eat A Peach, Nectar of the Hops, and SBC Tupelo Blossom. But the final two tastings were the highlight, as the John Lemon was a delicious summer-type sampling and the X R Cyser was more suited for a cold winter night. It's a fun thing to do for just $10, and I enjoyed learning about something I had no idea about prior to this tasting. Give it a shot, ask for Cate!!!!! read more

What a cool place!!! I honestly had no clue how many variations of honey they would have and the selection was amazing! The whipped honey is the best ever! This place is super cool! It's pretty new. You may have seen their products before in various stores like Whole Foods but this is their company storefront! I recommend sampling the various honeys, foods, and beauty products around. Definitely try the Mint Limeade. The Honey Iced Tea is amazing and it's only $2.10! This place was not just a store it was an experience. They have a sink where you can try out products. They have a bar with drinks and other items. The staff seem knowledgeable. This place is even AOK for someone with a limited tolerance for honey. If you love honey you will certainly rate much higher. But for gifts, this is a place even I can go. It is spacious, clean, fresh with helpful staff. Besides all kinds of honey, local and other, there are so many things that are non edible too. Including baby, bath and body, bee themed clothing, toys and books. If you are a bee themed adult but don't eat honey, there's stuff for you too especially some bath items I saw. The shop is positioned centrally on a nice block of the Pearl Street Mall. And remember, Boulderites and visitors, weekends are free in the city owned parking garages at either end of the Pearl Street Mall. And there is always room, I have never not gotten a space. Forget cruising around looking for a needle in the haystack when you can roll right into a garage and stay as long as you wish. read more

So many good things to say about this spot. I'm visiting from out of town and have seen this brand at whole food but was unaware of the huge selection of honey products they offer. Walked out with the bbq sauce (tastes like it'd be great for wings, has a sweet but tart almost mustard flavor - reallyyy good), lavender honey (lightly lavender but really tasty), the bourbon honey (this is a seasonal item that was aged in bourbon barrels and has an amazing depth of flavor, so worth it and only in stores from what I was told), and my favorite: the original royal jelly body butter (made my hand sooo incredibly soft in this dry winter weather). I came to this spot around New Years 2019 and I kid you not, I had been thinking of it ever since. I had never tried mead before and the flights were both affordable and more importantly, delicious. After having planned a road trip to Nederland and Denver, I couldn't not stop in Boulder and show my friend this place. We did a tasting of every single flavor, bought two crowlers to take with us to a friends. Everyone loved the Grateful Head (us too!), so much so, that when we got to Sedona, AZ just a short week and half later, we noticed a location in the town and had to stop in to get more.
