Savage Shrimp Hit the Spot! After some much-needed walking and shopping therapy, hunger kicked in--and Savage Shrimp caught my eye. Spotted garlic shrimp on the menu and immediately thought, "Oooh, like Giovanni's!" Waited a quick 10 minutes, and bam--served hot and ready. Not exactly the same as Giovanni's, but still totally delicious. Packed with flavor and definitely worth the stop. Hit the spot!

In Hawaii one must order a shrimp plate and this was a solid place to visit. It is situated on the side of shopping center with limited seating and a walk up counter. The garlic shrimp was pretty good. Not as flavorful as others I have tried. The Cole slaw was solid. Portions were a little smaller but kept me going till dinner.

Mid experience, wondering if I just ordered the wrong thing. A small hole in the wall place in the shopping plaza that I was excited to try. I ordered the garlic shrimp plate which was labeled as a fan favorite, but honestly, there was nothing really to write home about as I barely tasted anything. The rice mightve been the best part. Also, paying like two dollars extra for them to peel the shrimp seems kind of crazy too. Friendly service though which was nice. Was just kind of dissapointed in my selection, would recommend trying something else.

Ordered the Favorite garlic shrimps and were very disappointed. We didn't taste garlic at all. The salad was the best. Would not recommend that dish.

This is the KALUA PORK w/ salad and rice. I'll let the pictures do the speaking. Is that bbq sauce in there?

BBQ sauce kalua pork with shredded ice berg lettuce. Why is there a lemon? Safer eateries down the road. EDIT: I have diarrhea now eating here.

This looks like an absolute hole in the wall, but it's delicious! You order right at the door and sit at one of the few tables out front. Everything comes out quickly, and so good. Each plate has quite a few shrimp that you will need to peel yourself unless you request they come already peeled, rice and this delicious and tangy slaw. We were starving and ate everything up very quickly. We got two orders of the fire rock plate, one no ka oi plate, and one aloha plate. We also ordered a cheese quesadilla for our 5 year old which wasn't anything special but was eaten up.

They are located in the nearby mall nearest to our hotel. I loved their garlic shrimp dishes. We ordered everything above and below the moon on their menu. We got their garlic shrimp dish, curry shrimp, but our favortite was our garlic shrimp tacos! That is a top notch eats.

I was excited to see a spot that had garlic butter shrimp near our hotel. I was a little skeptical when I read the bad reviews but passed by one afternoon and saw the food looked good. So, we came here one night for dinner and we were do disappointed! We all got some form of non fried shrimp and all the shrimp was clearly from frozen. They were small and mushy. The flavor also didn't permeate the shrimp so you had a bland shrimp swimming in butter. I gave 2 stars because the staff was super friendly.

2.5 stars. Flavor wise the food is actually decent but it was a rip off for the price. The portions are so small and the pineapple curry was slightly disappointing - it just didn't feel like there was that much passion in the cooking.

Stopped by on a Saturday just before 5pm for take out. They charge an extra $0.50 per item for to go. There was no wait to order. I ordered a garlic shrimp plate - $16.95 and Bahia tacos - $13.95. Shrimps were of standard size. It tastes alright for what it is.

Savage Shrimp was convenient, affordable, and a solid lunch while shopping. Husband says his fire rock shrimp wasn't that spicy.

The drinks were delicious (I loved my lychee martini) and the appetizer we had was incredible! Taro rolls and carrot muffins. The taro rolls were sooooo soft and delicious, never had anything like it. Then for dinner we each tried something different, I had the burger which was excellent! Special shout out to our amazing waiter, Tyrus. I don't think I've ever had such a personable, kind, and engaging waiter. He was hilarious and so fun to talk to. He gave great recommendations on the island as well. Overall amazing experience. Highly recommend!

They had a lovely flavor, but were a little dry. My wife had the guava barbecue ribs, and I had the guava barbecue chicken. The ribs were delicious. My only note is they would've been even better if they had been cooked in a smoker. My chicken was also a bit dry. I had them bring me a ramekin of barbecue sauce, and that moisten did it up enough. that it was pretty good. Sides were locally grown, and well-prepared. Their signature dessert is called hula pie. It's an ice cream and macadamia nut take on a baked Alaskan, and it's delicious. It's really big, so you might want to start with dessert, and then see how hungry you are after. The noise level is good, it was nice for a romantic evening it also seemed like it would be good for groups up to 12.

The…read morerestaurant itself is set atop a Koi pond and you can watch them swim and jump while you wait to be seated. Our wait was maybe five minutes, and a quite friendly maître d' took us to our table, asking about us and our vacation so far. Upon being seated, another brought us water and was also very friendly, followed by our waiter who reviewed the menu and discussed some frequently asked questions. The menu itself had a nice variety of appetizers and dishes. There is also a tasting menu option with multiple courses. Bread was brought to the table in the form of a basket of ube rolls that were quite nice. My wife chose the Filet Mignon, and I the Seafood Tagliatelle. Her steak was presented well and she enjoyed it. My pasta was quite well prepared as we'll, and featured a couple of roasted prawns that had me initially believe it was a split lobster tail. Dessert was a macadamia nut-topped crème brûlée. The nuts and berries went wonderfully with the custard. My notes: Nothing served was exceptional. Very fine quality, no doubt, but none of it was a reason to choose here over any other fine dining restaurant. The wine list was rather boring - a selection of the most popular varietals from a few regions. Nothing specifically exciting or well-paired to a specific dish. If you are looking for an exceptional meal, I'd start elsewhere. It was very good - you're just not going to remember it later. The draw here is the ambience and the view, which for my purposes was the focus of the evening. It's spectacular. One you *will* remember long after. One final caveat: We dined here about four days after they had reopened following a very powerful hurricane that struck causing extensive damage. It's very possible things in the kitchen are not back to 100% so my review may be an exception. It's testament to the staff they did as well as they did while the island is still recovering.

It is definitely on the pricier side, especially for just two people, but honestly, it was completely worth it. Even though we were a little separated from the rest of the guests, the staff checked on us constantly, and our food and drinks came out in a timely manner. Our waiter was also so sweet and made the experience even more special. He offered to take pictures of us together throughout our time there, which I really appreciated. Everything we ordered was delicious. The ube rolls are still something me and my husband talk about to this day! You really can't go wrong with this restaurant. I mentioned that we were celebrating a special occasion, and they referred us to their bakery department for a cake. My husband loves carrot cake and cheesecake, so we decided to go with a carrot cake cheesecake, and WOWWWW. It was honestly one of the best carrot cake cheesecakes we've ever had! I had no idea how the cake was going to turn out since I'm not a local, had never eaten at this restaurant before, and had never been referred to their bakery/restaurant. I kind of went into it completely blind, but I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They seriously blew me away!

Tried out a new spot in Kauai…read more We were sat promptly. The service was good, clean restaurant. Server was very friendly. We ordered the spicy ramen and the butterfish and both dishes were excellent! The ramen had so many different layers of flavor and I now know why they call it "butterfish", very flavorful and rich for a white fish. The mushrooms were seasoned perfectly. Ironically, the butterfish ended up being one of the most memorable dishes of the trip and for all the wrong reasons. The misoyaki butterfish was so overwhelmingly fishy that we genuinely struggled to eat it. And I don't mean "this tastes like fish" fishy. I mean the kind of fishy where every bite makes you increasingly aware that perhaps you should stop taking bites. The short ribs were unbelievably fatty...easily the fattiest we've ever had. There was so much fat that after a few bites, we just couldn't stomach them anymore. So now we had two entrées in front of us, could barely eat either one, and were both disappointed and somehow still hungry. Which is how we ended up ordering the chocolate soufflé. Not because dinner had earned dessert, but because we still needed dinner. The soufflé was fine. Fairly basic, but at that point "edible" was a major improvement, so we happily ate it. We also ate at Red Salt on this trip and weren't particularly impressed there either, but Eating House 1849 was worse. At least Red Salt had good sushi. I genuinely don't understand the glowing reviews for Eating House. The location is great and the atmosphere is fun, but neither was enough to make up for how disappointing the food was.
