Biggest issue: the optometrist got the prescription wrong, I had progressive lens. I was never able to find the place on the lens where I could see things in clear focus. I finally gave up on my $1,000 glasses (frames, high index, etc.). Have since shown prescription to two other optometrists who examined my eyes and both said the prescription was incorrect for my eyes for the same reason. Oh yeah, the scratch resistant lens began to scratch within a year. read more

Make sure you read the back of your receipt after your eye exam. You only have a 30 day window to get your eyeglasses right. After the 30 days you have to pay for an eye exam again. read more

I try to support local businesses as much as I can, which is why I went to Sausalito Optometry in the first place However, I had a disappointing experience and won't be back. Following my eye exam, Dr. McCoy ordered a new pair of contact lenses for me with the same exact prescription I had from several years prior. I thought it strange that my prescription hadn't changed at all, but trusted her and paid several hundred dollars for the exam and contacts. Fast forward a couple of months, and I started to have problems seeing clearly with my new contacts. When I called the office, they told me I needed to pay for another full exam and potentially new contacts. The person I spoke with was abrupt and not interested in the least in providing any customer service whatsoever. I left with the impression that they'd rather nickel and dime customers than invest in building a long-term relationship with a community of loyal patients. read more

I had the nerve to show up as a walk-in and was immediately greeted by Sandra who is very professional and just as nice as everyone before me has stated. She offers and makes a killer cappuccino. We look at frames together. We agree on the same frames. She gets me an appointment THAT morning. I meet Dr. Maureen McCoy, go through the myriad of tests (all thoroughly explained), look at frame choices once more, make the choice, pay for my copay, and it's over. Dr. McCoy is very professional, extremely thorough in her exams and explanations regarding her findings. Dr. McCoy uses the very latest technology in optometry instruments. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful in selecting glasses and processing paperwork with insurance companies, etc. Dr. McCoy is always on time for my scheduled appointment (which is some kind of minor miracle in my book!). I can't say enough good things about Sausalito Optometry. The staff helped me extensively with my insurance to make sure that I got a good deal, and Dr. McCoy was fantastic! Super helpful and thorough. Their exam room is state of the art...everything was fabulous! I would highly recommend them! I took my flattened frames to Sausalito Optometry on Saturday morning thinking they were trashed, but the young women works there was able to fix them and replace the stems, so I could again see. This is the first time I've ever written a review, yeah they were that good! The equipment is so new and snazzy, and the frames are sooo cool. Best service I've ever had at any doctor office. You get an expresso while you fill out the form and get taken in right away for the test. The staff was so helpful in picking my new glasses, I had so many choices it was a hard decision. Everything about Sausalito Optometry is perfect! Dr. McCoy is professional, warm, caring, attentive, positive and smart. Her equipment is top notch/state-of-the-art. You don't even need to have your eyes dilated and I've never, ever experienced pain or discomfort in her chair, and I've squirmed and suffered at a few other good optometrists offices. All the office personnel are as friendly and professional as the good doctor, and when you walk into that clean, beautiful, main office it's like coming home.
