It has taken me a while to get this review in. I visited at the end of December. I had an epic meal. The space is hip with ample seating for dine in. The restaurant offers counter service. The team was incredibly helpful offering suggestions and swaps for various calzones on the menu. We went with a figgy piggy which is stuffed with ham, cheese, and fig jam. The other calzone was their seasonal selection for December. I cannot remember what they called it. I do remember pulled pork and queso. I was only able to finish half it was so hearty. I appreciate local places that also supports other local businesses. They carry the Excel sodas in their stores. They are my favorite when I choose to have a soda. We had a good experience. The food was delicious, the team was awesome, the space was fun. Looking forward to visiting again. read more

I had never had a calzone until a couple of months ago. The staff here are rockstars. My go to is the Bulls Eye. The thinly sliced beef works so well with the cheese onions and veg. You can taste the seasoning in the beef and I just love the goodness of the cheese with the carmelized onions. read more

Grabbed a quick dinner at Sauce on the Side on a weeknight. You order at the counter, and seat yourself. Pretty sure the food is made to order, because it took about 20 minutes, and the calzone came out burning hot. I got the Bull's Eye calzone, which was basically a cheese steak in calzone form. The restaurant is bright and clean and located in the streets of Saint Charles complex. There is plenty of parking but there are signs stating you are limited to 90 minutes or you are at risk of being towed. I found that quite discouraging as I like to eat leisurely while chatting with my dining companions. There is a large selection of recommended combinations of calzones, or you can create your own. They even offer Vegan choices. The calzones are at 10/10. They're incredibly good. I can usually only eat half. Service at this location was great! read more

I settled on the magic carpet calzone and an italian salad (a large, and they aren't kidding when they say LARGE). Portions are huge! We have been to multiple locations and each has been great. Service is unexpectedly quick so there were even folks doing lunch breaks while we were there. I am so happy there's a Sauce on the Side near me now! If you are looking for a whole new take on pizza this is the place. Sauce on the Side offers a nice variety of Calzone style pizza. They don't just have your regular pepperoni or sausage pizza but they offer unique pairings. How about meatballs, Ricotta cheese or even eggplant in your pizza. One of my favorites is the Duke filled with saucy bbq chicken, crispy bacon, corn and cheese. As of that's not enough, they give you a "sauce on the side" of bbq ranch! I haven't had a calzone since I was in middle school and I remember always looking forward to calzone day because they were absolutely my favorite so when I saw this restaurant made how zones and it was Local to my town I was so excited and eager to try it Boy, did they not disappoint. They exceeded my expectations. I'm not sure if it's the wood fire oven or the mouthwatering flavors within the calzone itself. This is definitely a place to come when you're hiding out from your children for great eats an even better drinks! Eat your feels The service is superb and they always great you soon as you walk in and get your order and promptly within typically about two minutes or less. I like that they bring the order to your table when it is ready if you do not have to get up and can enjoy yourself. The ambience is more like a casual grill. My dad and I had a wonderful experience recently at Sauce on the Side. I've long been a fan of SOTS, but had never been to this location. The staff was friendly and helped my dad (who was a newbie) create a calzone based on his taste preferences. It was perfect patio weather, so we took advantage of dining outside. Staff came out and bussed our plates and offered to-go boxes which I wasn't expecting for a fast-casual place, but was thankful they did! I don't know how much validation I have in rating and reviewing a calzone place, as this was my first time having a calzone, but I am going to anyways. This place hit the spot. I would say it serves best in the context of "I am so hungry I could the entire thing." Which I was, and I did eat almost the entire thing. Servings are huge, food is good. I will say maybe the sauce shouldn't be on the side and should instead be on the inside as mine was a little dry. BUT all things considered...delicious. I thought I left a review for this but I guess I didn't I enjoyed this place. The food was delicious. I never really had a calzone before and this is what they really are. I know it's an Italian type of food. I love it! I love it. It was so good and I got mine with Provolone cheese so I made it like a St. Louis Italian and it was awesome. I could have eaten too but I was so full from the first one. It was great. The service was good. You order when you go up to the table you order and then they'll bring it to your table and you leave everything at the table. They'll come get it. It's not really like super waiter but it is a type of table service. I can't say enough about this place. I mean for two of us it was like 40 bucks. Sauce on the Side St. Charles is located in the Streets of St. Charles. They have indoor, outdoor, and curbside space available. I do curbside from the location all the time. I have dined on the patio as well. I am a die-hard SOS patron. I will visit any location at any time, just say the word. The quality of ingredients, ability to customize items, and the staff keep me returning. The salads alone are not just a starter, then can be your whole meal. I love the toppings and dressings. The Calzones are so filling and are even better left over warmed up in the oven. Both the Salads and Calzones hold very well for take-out. We have even served these several hours after pick up for a family party cut into slices. Favorites are the Hot Mother Clucker (Feb. only), Meat Me In St. Louis, Figgy Piggy, The Fold, and Strawberry Fields Salad. I will be back soon. read more

Staff is super friendly and I cannot get enough of the black Cherry soda they have that you cannot get at other places. I ordered the Duke and it was great. Lots of shredded chicken and bacon. The dipping sauce was a salsa ranch which I enjoyed (I am not one to like regular ranch). I ate maybe half! Calzones look like giant Hot Pockets, but taste 100 times better. :) I happened to visit this location for the first time on their ribbon cutting day. The staff were already working like veterans. Really nice, helpful, and friendly. I've only ever tried the calzones, but the salads and desserts look amazing as well. I think some people might think calzone=boring folded pizza with crust, meat, cheese, sauce. You can certainly get that and it tastes great, but they have many unique ingredients that get stuffed into the great bread crust. For instance, one features mac and cheese. They have many sauces to choose from. On our visit we had red sauce, pesto, and garlic butter. All were delicious! The Meat Me in St. Louie is my "go to" 'zone and this one was just as good as the others. The space is a generous size with a few tables indoors to accommodate groups of 6 to 8 and there is also patio seating. The Beale Street area is quite popular, so be prepared to not have parking directly in front of the door. read more

The buffalo butter was an interesting taste that I've never had before, and I am definitely a fan of that!
