I've tried to figure it out in-person at sats, with my membership representative, and with customer service over the phone to no avail.
Here's the whole story:
I enquired about a 12-month contract in January. In February I said I cant commit to 12 and enquired about month-to-month and agreed to sign up. When I arrived at sats SOFO location there was a 12-month contract. I didn't sign it. The lady at the counter felt bad for me and let me through to use the gym for the day. I did not use my membership card, it was not activated. She pushed a button behind the counter to let me through. That day I emailed Teodor Hallback, the membership agent with whom I was working and asked to cancel and try again next month because at that point I figured Maybe it wasn't the best time to move forward on it.
No response from Teodor. Sometime after that, they charged my fiance 1000sek. (I was as surprised as you are reading this)
After trying to reach Teodor, he responded and told me I was in the wrong and that he could use our conversations from January (phone recordings and emails) against me. I fought back. He said he could give the deposit back, (about 425) but not the one month (about 550) he said I could pick it up in person at any SATS. I went to Huddinge, near me, but they could only give me 325 but there was nothing else he could do... so I went back to SOFO. I was told me I couldn't get any more back but that my fiance could (it's all going into his bank account anyway, it's not like they're giving me cash). I called customer service today (April now... I'm sick of this) and she was very unhelpful. She didn't even mention that my fiance could get the remaining 100 SEK money back. (at the end of the frustrating conversation, I mentioned that I knew that was available and asked her why she didn't mention that to me... she said it was because she can't help me, she can only help my fiance)
Bottom line, don't sign up for SATS if you don't want to spend months arguing for your money back when you never even used the gym. read more
