The lady at the counter walked me through all the steps filling out the paper, I tell her I do not want raw fish. She says, okay no problem. I get home....you guessed it, raw fish. I give them a call, talk to the exact same lady, she tells me, "oh you should've hand wrote that on the paper" What an imbecile. Satomi doesn't look like much from the outside and when you first walk in. However, the staff are always ready to greet you with a smile and take care of you like family. The parking lot is shared with other businesses and is pretty small. The interior could probably use some updating as most of the décor and flooring looks pretty dated. This is a small restaurant, but there is a decent amount of seating for the size. Not the biggest deal in the world and most people can look past these simple imperfections if the food is great. Prior to visiting here for the first time, I had several friends recommend the teriyaki chicken rice plate. I have to say, this is probably the best teriyaki rice place I have ever eaten. The chicken is always tender and tasty. The rice is always cooked perfectly and compliments the chicken nicely. Ever since I have tried this plate, this has been my go to meal every time. I am not a sushi eater, but I have received nothing but positive comments from friends. If you are craving this type of food, you wont be disappointed. read more

I go to Tracy every week for ranch supplies and have been stopping for lunch at Satomi for lunch each time. The food has been delicious, and I have tried all the yaketori (skewered) and teriyaki dishes with rice and vegetables. The last time I added a sashimi appetizer and the fish was very fresh and tasty. However, what really makes my visits special is the friendly, compassionate service. I am partially disabled. When I pull in, the hostess Cindy comes and opens the door (it's heavy) for me then escorts me to a table. After my food is served, she will sit down and visit if it isn't busy. When I leave, she makes sure I get to my truck safely. read more

Stopped in town to grab food on the way to Yosemite from SF when we found this gem. We ordered 2 poke bowls, the fish was super fresh, toppings were high quality and overall it was really good and flavors were balanced. I decided to get a taro milk tea to go and the boba was soft and drink itself super yummy! Will definitely come back if I'm ever in Tracy again. The people here were also really sweet and attentive. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience for my first visit here. I would've given it a 4 star had it not been for one thing at the end, which I'll save for later. The food was very good. My daughter and I had the ramen, which was very tasty. I would've liked to have had the egg marinated and cooked soft instead of hard, but the bowl had good flavor and it was very satisfying. I felt that the Shogun roll I had was a little heavy on he cream cheese, but I do like it and I was in the mood for that flavor anyways. I did order it without jalapeños, but in retrospect, they probably would've gone great with the cream cheese. The egg rolls were a style that I've never had. They had ground pork and a whole shrimp running through the length of it. You can see the tail of the shrimp popping out one end and when you take a bite, you can see the shrimp down the center like a sushi roll. Pretty cool. It's a very small place, but the service is extremely friendly and inviting. I thought it was awesome that they will be incorporating a milk tea section of the menu soon. I was a little disappointed because I didn't see the sign that said "Coming Soon." More to look forward to in the future. My ONE and ONLY gripe about the experience came at the very end before we we left. I used the restroom just before leaving and turned around to discover that their dining room napkins were stored in the bathroom. I really don't know how to feel about this, because I really like this place. However, it's a bit off putting to know that the napkins I was using at the table are kept only a few feet from where people use the toilet. I would love to back here, but I hope that they fix that detail. read more

Unfortunately this place was a HARD PASS for my mother and I. We stopped here for a quick bite. We were the only ones in the restaurant, yet the food took over half an hour. The udon was utterly horrific. The vegetables seemed spoiled. To our surprise, it got even worse. The sushi was INEDIBLE. The rice seemed like normal rice, and not sushi rice with all the seasonings (rice vinegar and what not). The overall quality of the food was upsetting. We felt bad because the lady who took our order was staring at us with a huge smile, asking if we liked our food. We ended up leaving and resorted to a quick fast food meal since Satomi took so much of our time. Fast forward to later on in the night-my mother had food poisoning. First time to order from here. So we ordered the volcano sushi and the shogun sushi. They both have shrimp tempura. The volcano sushi is topped with crab salad, tempura bits, garlic aioli. While the shogun sushi has tempura shrimp, cream cheese, cucumber, topped with jalapeño and tempura bits. The size was thicker and bigger in size. The poke bowl had the pits of the avocado in it so some bites were inedible. My wife spat out at least 3 bits of the pit. The rolls were all very warm. The ingredients didn't taste fresh either. I order the Warlord sushi and a miso soup and he shared some calamari that he had order and it was so delicious I couldn't stop eating it lol.
