At first it looked like coffee grounds and now it's all black. Our building was insisting we pay to get it fixed because it's a problem in our apartment. I explained the issue to Jerry at CID and that we never put coffee grounds or anything like that down the drain, who was able to tell me over the phone that he was completely certain the issue was not coming from our apartment since we have fully stopped using the sink and dishwasher since this started and it continues to fill with more liquid. There's more I could explain but that's the basics. Anyway Jerry was so nice, offered to get someone there by 8pm (I had called at 4pm so that was amazing) and it would be a flat fee to snake the drain and was very up front about what it would be which was very transparent. He suggested I talk to building management as this was not an issue of something we did wrong that normally it's something they would pay for. I did and they are sending someone out to inspect all the apartments in our line tomorrow. I don't think they will let us use CID if they are going to pay for it (which we sincerely hope they will) but despite that Jerry was incredibly nice and even gave me specific tips to tell the building management to make sure their plumber did the best job possible. I shared approved Dept of Buildings plans and supervisor came out for a walk-through and verbally quoted me $20,000, saying as he left he'd write the detailed proposal based on his $20,000 verbal quote. However, when he emailed his proposal the price shot up 92.3% to $38,460.00! I emailed back to get justification, but never received a response to the exorbitant markup from the verbalized quote at my house. I wanted to know why Harris would not honor the $20,00 I was quoted during the site visit? I have been a repeat client of this business paying $1000s at each of their visits to do my plumbing work, and was told that because of this fact, I'd get a slight discount on my renovation proposal for the plumbing aspect. But a 92.3% markup from original quote of $20,000 is extortion, fraud and just bad business practice to say the very least! I found out also that they don't come out and tell you that they charge a discharge/service fee to come out, but $150/per hour of travel time is quietly--not disclosed to customer--added to their bills, yet never disclosed to you upfront. They were coming from the office location in Brownsville and I'm all the way down south on Avenue Z in Sheepshead Bay and they must take the side streets to get to me because commercial vehicles are not permitted on the Belt Parkway. I will stop being a repeat loyal customer to Harris Plumbing and Heating and will not refer them to anyone else ever again. I'll be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau also. It took him 80ft of snaking but he got my basement backup unclogged. I was so appreciative. All he does is drains and he knows what he's doing. His price was as quoted but I did give him a little extra for his good work. I have a friend in Morristown that paid 4x as much as I did for the SAME work. This shows me that he prices things fairly. After posting a need for a fair priced plumber to replace my first & second floor shower…read morecartridges. I received some astronomical quotes and some not so bad ones. It's truly unfortunate that today's young entrepreneurs believe it's better to work on the customers pockets than on repeat customers. I was impressed by this young businessman who was polite, respectful and professional. After making an appointment, we had postpone it due to being g unable to find the one needed for my shower. After deciding to replace the entire system because the previous rocket scientist used some type of cement to install the previous cartridge which made it totally impossible to get it out. The outer ring plate read Peerless so I tried to get parts but they were difficult to find. What turned out to be a fifteen minute swap out almost ended up a complete and total unit replacement. After the plumber used a sawzall to cut a portion of the handle off it fell off. I bought the wrong cartridge due to the outer ring stating Peerless but when the plumber texted me a pic of the cartridge the plumbing supply salesman stated that the actual cartridge is a Delta product. After getting the correct cartridge, the plumber took all of fifteen minutes to replace it and another ten to replace another Moen shower cartridge. The original quote was $165.00 for both but unfortunately the previous plumber used something to create a more than unnecessary bond in the handle portion which added $90.00 but I had no qualms watching the young professional quickly adapt to the variable he faced. Anthony the plumber is going to be our go-to plumber from here on out.

He then began yelling homophobic slurs at me: "f*ggot," "come take it up the ass," "why don't you suck my dick?" as I continued to walk up 3rd Avenue. I want to also note that there was a black man in the car (maybe another employee) who was not involved and tried to de-escalate the situation by telling the guy to calm down at one point and waving at me to keep going.
