At first, I was SO excited to go here. The location is remote and kind of in the ghetto/construction-like area of Boston but the space inside is nice and contemporary. I went for the first time about a year ago.
Number 1 - Cassandra, the receptionist is probably one of the least friendly and rudest people I have ever met. She's not overly friendly or warm AT ALL and I feel like she judged me by my appearance (which, by the way, was normal - I had gone in at lunch time in my business-environment clothing). She barely spoke and didn't even act like she cared about who walked in, etc.
Now, on to the brows...
Since I wanted my brows PERFECT for my upcoming wedding (I am insanely picky AND OBSESS about my brows), I had let them grow out for 2-3 months before I went. My goal was simple - I wanted the best shape for my face and them to be evened out without making them overly thin - and Jen, my brow specialist agreed. I knew it was going to take a few times to get them evened out and perfect. Jen was really nice - very talkative, fun personality and made me feel at ease. The only thing I didn't like was that when I mentioned another eyebrow artist (David Nicholas from DNI), she completely trashed talked about him! I know that no one likes competition but I think it is extremely unprofessional to do that, so I was a little put off by that. So then Jen did my brows, tweezing and using her pencil to guide herself. What she did at the end blew my mind in a negative way - she used a RAZOR to SHAVE around my brow!!! She didn't even warn me! That along with filling in my brow "just a little bit" according to her, made my eyebrows look so fake and sculpted. But I didn't judge right then and there because I thought "she's the professional, she must know what's she's doing even though she's shaving my brows." Then I went back probably a total of 4 times - same thing. Brows looked way too sculpted and fake and wasn't 100% happy with them. The 4th time I went, Jen made them even more uneven, which I pointed out. She said to let them grow and the next time, they'd do them for free because I was unhappy. I went in the last time and she made my brows look completely uneven and misshapen. I didn't realize this right away because she had used filler to make them look perfect. When I came home and washed my face at night I was shocked! And they DID charge me even though they had promised me they wouldn't. There were also a couple times in there where I knew she was rushing because she was over our appointment time - but if they know that a client's brows take longer, they should account for that extra time.
No place should ever shave your brows - no matter what. Using pencil to fill a little bit here and there is fine to make them look more refined. But to use pencil to make them look completely different is not right - false advertising in my book. She obviously KNEW she messed up and wanted to cover it.
Also, when they called to confirm my next appointment, I said no and Cassandra very rudely and like she didn't give a sh*t was like "ok, have a nice day." Why does Sarra not care that they are losing a customer that went 5 times before is beyond me. Cassandra was NEVER friendly...every time I went there, it was like she was above everyone and everything and instead of making her clients feel comfortable, she was just snotty.
The funny thing is that even though the guy she trashed talked about, David Nicholas from DNI, was a bit more expensive, I decided to give him a try (despite all the horrible things she said about him). And guess what...I LOVED HIM! His price tag is definitely hefty but I would rather pay a bit more to go see him then to waste another dime at Sarra. I highly recommend him.
If you are very particular about your brows like I am, I would not recommend this place personally. Also, if your brows are dark and prominent (like mine are) and you decide to go here, be clear that you do not want Jen or Lauren or whoever to use a razor or a pencil/filler. Before you leave there, make sure you know what your real eyebrows look like.
I hope this helps ladies! read more
