I mean, it's Sarku... It sucks that this is one of the locations that does not participate in the app/rewards program. However, they do have a stamp card so ask for one if you go. The employee who took my order was very nice. They charge roughly a dollar extra for noodles instead of rice. This is the first location I have been to where the spicy teriyaki isn't spicy at all. In fact, it was so mild and sweet that when I took a bite, I immediately walked back in the store and told them it wasn't spicy. They informed me that it was "mild " ... well, I have been to this chain in various parts of the country and I can honestly tell you I have never tasted spicy that had such little spice. The vibes inside are... OK. There was an unhoused person high out of his mind standing outside when I pulled up. The inside was clean but basic. I ordered chicken and beef teriyaki to take out, which came with steamed vegetables and rice. I was charged over $17 for this, and what I got wasn't worth the price. First off, there was less than a palm of beef on one plate, with barely any sauce. The whole plate was rice and a small wall of steamed vegetables, which were also not soft. The chicken was better, but didn't give much more and was drenched in the sauce. They put a cup a oily sauce over the chicken afterwards making the white rice no longer white rice. The sauce had a bit of teriyaki to it if you tasted hard enough, but still didn't get the point across. It was way too oily and that was all I could taste. Overall, i wouldn't go back to this place. Something is missing. I can't quite put my finger on it. The flavor is absent and when you try to add the yum yum sauce to compensate, it's a moot point because the yum yum sauce has way too much mayo. I don't want to be too critical because criticism can be rough. It's tough because the chef seems like he loves his job because he was singing songs (in what sounded like arabic?) behind the counter. More power to him. I'm just saying... think more "Top Chef" and less "American Idol". I'll spend the rest of the review saying that the place is clean, the customer service was friendly, my soda was good, and the actual cook of the food was decent. Went to the Great Northern Mall location today. I usually cannot wait to get the Teriyaki Chicken and rice, no vegetables. Have been eating it for years now whenever at this Mall. However, today this was the most horrible meal I have ever eaten. Since I had other obligations, I took the meal home to enjoy it. However, the rice had hard lumps in it throughout and the meat was absolutely terrible and overall there was no taste to the meal. Could not get through it and put most of it in the garbage disposal. Now, I do not know if they are cutting corners because of inflation or what. I will never eat here again, they have lost me as a customer. read more

I had high hopes because the images of their chicken bento box looked appetizing...especially after missing breakfast. I ordered fried rice with my chicken bento box that came with a salad, 3 dumplings and 4 California rolls. The best parts of my meal were the sides. I expected a ginger based salad dressing but the type used was more oily like a vinaigrette but tasty. The dumplings were awesome and the rolls were as expected. I did not like they wasabi...quite mediocre and the pickled ginger slices were lacking and did not have much of a flavor. The chicken terayki was not great...I've had better at the mall to be honest. The fried rice unfortunately still resembled plain white rice in some parts. If I ever return here it would be for the dumplings. And perhaps the shrimp tempura. read more

The staff always looks like they're ready to jump off the highest building rather than work here.lol Maybe that's why the service is always slow. But, as a last option, food is always hot and tasty. This place is God awful! Management does a terrible job, the staff is always rude, nobody seems to speak English, and they seem to always take priority over Hispanic customers. I found hair in my food twice before writing this review, and there always seems to be some sort of confrontation when I walk into this place. The food is never cooked all the way through. My husband and I got take out and loved it. We both got the chicken bento boxes and a couple sushi rolls. The chicken and rice was cooked perfectly and the salad was fresh. The dumplings had great flavor, were a little cold, but we expected that since we didn't eat at the restaurant. My husband had he volcano roll and I got the shrimp tempura roll. Both were AMAZING! YumYum sauce didn't taste like it had to much mayo to me. Guess I'm just happy because the one I use to go to in Texas didn't even offer YumYum sauce. Will definitely come back. Wow! You can really tell the difference in the Sarku Japans. I thought they were as good but that's a lie. The noodles was tasteless and cold. The veggie was just veggies not cooked. The beef was okay and I got six shrimp exactly. The sauce was the same however the yum yum sauce was straight mayo. You know it's nasty when the kids won't eat it. 33 dollars wasted. The two managers do a terrible job of running this store . Everytime I come in they are touching each other or slacking when it is busy. It makes me sad to say that the young ladies in the front seem to bare most of the burden especially during rush hour. The ladies in the front are the only ones that wear gloves. There has been flies in my most recent visit and I will not be back here .it would be a shame if these girls left nobody there would speak English. read more

The food is good, don't get me wrong, but the customer service this time leaves much to be desired. We order from here quite regularly, and I wanted to treat the staff to lunch (more than 8 staff members). I called in the order, and was told that the credit/debit machine wasn't working so they would only be taking cash, which was a major inconvenience as I knew my order was large and would be a bit pricey. Nevertheless, I called back to place the order, and asked to make sure there were 11 orders with potstickers and it was confirmed with price total. When we went to pick it up, there were only 10 orders, had to add the 11th order, and 2 canned "pop" was added instead of 2 orders of potstickers. We asked James if there was a manager on duty, which he confirmed, and could we see him/her and he said okay, but never went to get the manager. We got our food and left. I just feel like a consumer who spends quite a bit of in an establishment, there was an inconvenience and we never received an apology for it or "can we offer you an extra...." as other places would. read more

This place has only been open a few months. It's very clean and new looking inside. The staff is attentive. I did a carry out, but I sat at table to wait----the table was clean, no sticky or grimy residue on it. Again, it could be most customers just do carry out like I did or it could be the fact this place is new. I'll see if it's still as clean in a few months I guess for fast food Japanese the food is acceptable (this would be a 1 or 2 star if this was an authentic sushi or Japanese restaurant). I had the chicken bento: chicken teriyaki, dumplings, sushi, salad, and white rice. The teriyaki sauce was like you'd expect real teriyaki sauce to be (soy sauce, mirin, sake and dashi) and it wasn't thick and gloppy. The chicken was good, not overcooked.The rice was hard. Not crunchy or al dente but hard. Asian rice is supposed to be soft, but I guess they need to have something unaccustomed Western palates would accept. But irrespective of Westernized palates, sushi is supposed to be rice with vinegar, salt and sugar. The sushi here had no vinegar/salt/sugar flavor. The sushi was nicely rolled. The dumplings were light and crunchy. But some of the dumplings in my order were flavorless, while the others were nicely flavored with ginger. I suppose who ever mixed the filling didn't do a good job of mixing. The salad was okay, but I thought the dressing was too sweet. I'm not sure if the dressing can be served on the side. read more
