Visited Berto's to beat this summer heat and left feeling satisfied. The workers are very friendly…read moreand polite. The place was bright and airy as well. We ordered their Halo-Halo, Palabok and their Berto's Fried Chicken. Halo-Halo (5/5) is hands down the best summer dessert. It's so refreshing and had the perfect blend of sweetness and creaminess. They added the perfect amount of ube ice cream, caramel flan and a mixture of jelly, red beans and sugar palm fruit at the bottom. It's a must-try treat. Palabok (2/5) was okay. It was a bit dry and not as saucy as we would've preferred. It could use some chicharron (pork rinds). There's not much protein in this meal other than the boiled egg which was a let-down. We also noticed that some of the noodles have crisped up as well which must've been from the heat lamp/steam table. The dish could use some shrimp and topped with some fried garlic chips. Berto's Fried Chicken (5/5) was delicious. It was fresh, tender and juicy. It had the right amount of seasoning that didn't make it overwhelmingly salty. The garlic fried rice and fried eggs were a great combination with chicken. Any of their breakfast items have always been good.

Ok so this place is more of a TAKE OUT, yes they do have high stools and a table if you want to eat…read morea quick meal but I rarely see people do that. They do have a TV that has the Filipino shows so while your eating your meal you can enjoy some of the Filipino drama shows. Aside from doing take outs they also have catering menu so people who enjoy Filipino dishes and wanna share them on family occassions or even for parties they have a good selection of dishes. My person favorite is their baby empanadas I believe is 100pcs for $45 or $50 depending on what you get beef, chicken or pork I think. When I go there to pick up a dish with SMALL, MEDIUM or LARGE I always look for BOPIS which is a heart and lung dish it's hard to describe what it is made of but I really enjoy it and SISIG pigs ear belly cheeks and liver along with onion lime and chili. Alot of their dishes are delicious I have tried their PALABOK, BALATUNG, CALDARETA they are all good even some of their sweet dishes from TURON and BILO-BILO. I'm always in luck that when I go there everything was just made so it is fresh off the pan, pot or wok. The owners are super friendly they always make you feel welcomed and they are generous with their portions even though they have small medium and large containers they will make sure to fill it up.. I do reccomend this place to all my friends and family esp for parties and events you definitely need to try their party trays but do order in advance..

Such a cute and delightful spot! Service was fast, friendly and helpful. I had a lot of questions since it was my first time there. They answered all my questions and had good recommendations. They make some great goodies with a Filipino spin! For my first visit, I tried mini sausage buns, Cinnamada (cheesey cinnamon rolls!) and cake slices (the San Rival is ). Everything was beautiful and flavourful. Must return to try more.

I'm Filipino so I always get super excited when I stumble across small Filipino owned bakeries and man did this place blow me away. They are a little pricy here imo (for the empanadas) but you will not be disappointed. I bought a dulce de leche cupcake and I'm usually a frosting hater so I was a little skeptical since it looked heavy on the frosting, but once I bit in I was delighted by how light and moist it was! I also got one chicken and one pork empanada and they were both delicious. My favorite between the two was the pork. The crust was rich and flaky and the filling was super authentic, reminding me of what I've eaten growing up. The interior is also so cute, it smells amazing once you step inside, and the girl with the hijab working the register was really nice as well. I ended up purchasing a 6 pack of half chicken half pork empanadas to take home to my family!! 10/10 will be back soon :)

Never stingy when it comes to portions and I can just taste the love put into the cooking of it. A little salty sausage and some sweet I guess "bacon" with some rice and an egg on top? Palabok (Philippines style noodles in prawn gravy) - the sauce was bland and tasted like it came from a package We waited 20 minutes (standing at that!) before the owner decided to ask if we were ready to order. She was rude, inattentive and rushed us through our dinner. Honestly, if I wasn't already hungry, I would have walked out. I highly doubt a second visit will happen, not when the owner is like that. Tip: if you want authentic Filipino food, drive to Bathurst & Wilson area
