One of the first local Milton small businesses I was introduced to. Located in a small business strip off Main Street, it is a beautiful shop with a little bit of seating. Such a cute and delightful spot! Service was fast, friendly and helpful. I had a lot of questions since it was my first time there. They answered all my questions and had good recommendations. They make some great goodies with a Filipino spin! For my first visit, I tried mini sausage buns, Cinnamada (cheesey cinnamon rolls!) and cake slices (the San Rival is ). OMGGG I wanna gatekeep this place so bad but they have some of the best cupcakes and Filipino empanadas I've had in a while. I'm Filipino so I always get super excited when I stumble across small Filipino owned bakeries and man did this place blow me away. They are a little pricy here imo (for the empanadas) but you will not be disappointed. I bought a dulce de leche cupcake and I'm usually a frosting hater so I was a little skeptical since it looked heavy on the frosting, but once I bit in I was delighted by how light and moist it was! I also got one chicken and one pork empanada and they were both delicious. My favorite between the two was the pork. The crust was rich and flaky and the filling was super authentic, reminding me of what I've eaten growing up. The interior is also so cute, it smells amazing once you step inside, and the girl with the hijab working the register was really nice as well. I ended up purchasing a 6 pack of half chicken half pork empanadas to take home to my family!! 10/10 will be back soon :) read more

Cinnamada = cinnamon bun + ensaymada? Ube cupcakes? Done and done! When non-Pinoy friends brought this to my house, I was shocked. Props to Bread 'n Batter for being able to reach fans beyond the Filipino community! The only thing I'd warn non-Filipinos about is that Bread 'n Batter's icing isn't necessarily what you'd find in the usual Canadian bakery; Filipino-style icing isn't as sweet as you might be accustomed to. These donuts were exceptional wanted tres leches for Cinco de mayo couldn't find any. Got 12 cupcakes and 12 enpinades half chicken half beef. They were a hit at the Cinco de mayo.party. yummy would go again for sure. read more

2 mango cupcakes, $8.48 w/ tax. Pretty, didn't like the taste. No sweetness present in the whipped cream + the cake, they were bland imo. Be more generous with the mango chunks! Otherwise, the staff were nice! Beautiful store, nice and cool inside, located by the Osmows plaza by the library. I loved the innovative packaging: first time I ordered cupcakes and the whipped cream stayed on! They also have empanadas, cupcakes, and different types of bread available to eat. I was so pleased to have found this gem right here in Milton! I love that it's right down the street from my house! This is a family run bakery and everything is made fresh everyday. I love that they have traditional ube cakes and pastries (it was the first time I had tried ube here and I loved it) and empanadas. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend trying their cinnamon rolls with cheese on top. It sounds weird but it's delicious! Wow. This place is simply amazing. Real family run, family centered kind of store. Had the opportunity to check this place out and I was very impressed with how awesome this place. Everything they make is made from scratch. From the pandesal to the cakes and the empanadas. Oh man the empanadas are really good! Best seller, the chicken will be halal too. So that's even better. The pastry is nice n golden. N flaky on the inside. We've tried the Ube cake, the Ube cupcakes and they are very ube-y. The cake itself is super fresh and soft, you can tell the difference between a frozen cake and a fresh made cake and this one was definitely fresh. They also do custom order cakes. The heart that the family puts into their baking is very much reflected in the taste and quality of the food. The family are very welcoming and they are so happy to share their creations with you. Other Filipino breads they have include Spanish breads (rolled bread with a sweet buttery filling). pandecoco (coconut stuffed bun). Sans Rival (layers of merengue, butter cream, crunchy cashews, layers after layers) and it taste good! Whenever you're in milton, or saugga, do yourself a favor and check them out.! read more

As opposed to Panera, as soon as you enter this place, you KNOW what Bread 'N Batter is all about...baking, breads, cakes, Filipino specialties. It's located just off Main Street, in Milton, but outside the downtown strip in a commercial building. It's easier to enter the building if you're going headed West on Main Street. I ordered 3 items: Chicken Empanada, Ube Cupcake, & Cinnaymada. The empanada & cinnaymada had to be prepared from the back kitchen as there weren't any in the front. It took a bit, but I was ok with that. Out of the 3 items, the Ube Cupcake was BY FAR the best item. It wasn't too sweet and the whipped cream topping was nice and light! Batter for the cupcake was light as well, not dense or heavy. Although hot out of the oven, I wasn't the biggest fan of the empanada simply because I didn't expect the crust to be sweet. So don't expect it to similar to the Latin American type of empanadas. Filipinos like things on the sweet...or salty side. However, if you're someone who likes the play of both sweet and salty, then you may enjoy this version. The cinnaymada, that looked like an ensaymada, tasted like a Cinnabon. The cheddar-cheese looking topping sorta turned me off - again, I'm not a fan of mixing salty/sweet - however, I did not even taste it AT ALL. I know some people who LOVE ube cake and I think that this place would do it exceptionally well - based on my experience with their cupcake! Too bad they don't have any hot drinks offered. read more

This bakery would get a 5 star rating if: #1) They were open on Sunday's #2) They had more bread available #3) They would refund me immediately after ordering online. This bakery has one of the best and most delicious food items. It's just unfortunate that they are not customer focused. I don't understand why they are not open on Sunday's as people are off on the weekend and when a lot of social events are happening. Also, BEWARE...if you want to order online, and had put the payment through and then find out they don't have the items, they'll refund you but you'll get your refund in a few days, who knows how long? They don't even know. So lesson learned, call before you place your order. Apparently they only have their bakers in the morning and then leave. I called at 2pm to see if they can bake me 5 ensymadas and they close at 6pm and they said no because their bakers are only there in the morning. WTF?!?!? Warm staff, great goods. The traditional coconut filled Spanish bread and the adventurous cinnaymada still carry the Filipino taste sentiment of the balance of sweet and salty. Pick one of these up for a warm treat at the bakery on the way home from work. The chefs at BnB have developed the chocolate crinkles so well. With a flaky-ish outside and a soft and dense middle, it is a chocolate brownie-like cookie that will make any chocolate lover melt. Definitely a place worth stopping by Milton for! read more

We drove all the way to Milton to buy some more the freshly baked ensaymada. Then discovered their sinfully delicious cinnaymada! The Spanish bread, Mamon and Mocha Mamon are really good too. The Pan de Coco dough was delish but found the coco a bit on the salty side. The pork empanadas are fresh and goes great with a cold drink. Next time, we'll have to try their Ube Cupcakes! Although the aesthetics of this place doesn't exactly draw you in, they do pretty well here. The front doesn't specify that they're a Filipino bakery, but surprisingly many go here. Their food items are fresh, they have a decent amount of tasty baked goods, and you'll leave pretty satisfied. Service was friendly and helpful. They carried some interesting Filipino items I've actually never seen before. Seats were far and few, but definitely not overcrowded. The type of customers they generate are mainly Asian, but I noticed other ethnicities coming in to try their buko pandan and mango cupcakes, etc. That seems pretty unknown in Filipino shops, since we usually just see our own kind. It seemed as if every few minutes another customer would come in, which was great to know that people like coming here to purchase their pan de sal and egg tarts. I would recommend their empanadas - they're really good (I've only tried the chicken but I'm sure the pork was just as good) and their mini hot dog buns. The cupcakes were also a big hit with my family, my guest and myself. The vanilla chocolate one was amazing, as well as the ube flavoured cupcake, so I'm definitely grabbing some more next time! read more

My friend and I enjoy ube cupcakes. If you dont know what to try first, go with the Ube cupcakes (taro ones). It is completely different than other regular cupcakes. We like it because it is not too sweet, the sponge is moist and flavourful (not feel like artificial flavour and color). The reason why i dont give 5 stars is because lately we can see a change of taste (recipe) comparing to what we had in the past: -frosting: a bit sweeter -cakes: a bit drier (it was moist and soft, like the feeling when you have cheesecake from uncle tetsu, i hope it makes sense to you) Still recommend anyways read more

I keep forgetting to post a review of this cute bakery! A couple months ago in the winter, I discovered this place hidden in a small strip of stores at Main Street and Thompson in Milton. I tried their ube cupcake, which was heavenly and their Mocha ensymada (sponge cake), which was also sweet but not overwhelmingly sweet. I remember it coming out to about $6 or $7 for the two items, which isn't bad at all. This is the only place that I know that sells Filipino treats in Milton, so I was impressed with the quantity and quality of the food considering it was close to closing when I went. The shelves at this bakery are always empty. I have been to this bakery three times in two weeks in hopes of trying their cinnamon/ensaymada, but they never have it. Actually many items on their menu board are not available. I was told that I have to call ahead and preorder. I tried showing up early in the business day in hopes that they did not sell out, but again the shelves were almost empty and I was told to call ahead. Even though I have not tried their cinnsaymada, I did try their regular ensaymada and it was good, but nothing special. It does hold up well the next day where other ensaymada would have gotten dry and hard. I also tried their mamon, but I found the texture a bit weird. I found the texture of their mamon a little gritty. The empanadas were good, but had very little filling and their cheesecake bites were overly salty, almost inedible. Their prices are a bit higher than other Filipino bakeries, but not they are not outrageously overpriced. If I am in the area and had a craving for Filipino baked goods, I may visit Bread 'N Batter again, but I wouldn't go out of my way for a visit. read more
