We frequently visit this Indian restaurant in Dallas that our relatives love. Typically, it's very crowded and we have to wait, but this time we were seated easily with several tables available. We ordered masala dosa, veg uttapam, plain dosa, idli, and coffee. Although the food took an unusually long time to arrive despite the restaurant not being busy, it was delicious as always. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean with plenty of seating. Despite the slow service, it's a place we enjoy returning to for its tasty dishes.

We moved to Dallas two weeks ago and have visited Saravanaa Bhavan twice! The restaurant is super crowded and buzzing with people at any time of the day. There is usually a small wait to get seated. This is not a place to go for a date night, romantic lunch, or dinner since that is not the ambiance here. It is a go with a hungry stomach and eat as much as possible of their yummy food kind of place. I am now coming to the food. I am so busy enjoying every bite and taking in the flavors that I forget to take pictures of what we order. For appetizers, Gobi 65 is mandatory. We tried the curd vada, which was out of the world. They have the best Bisi Belabath I have ever eaten! It's not too spicy, but it has just the right flavors. My husband tried the Veg Thali and the Rava Dosa and loved both. My daughter always orders their Masala Dosa and their super fresh mango lassi. Writing this review makes me crave their food so I might go again in a day or two.

I love Saravana Bhavan food as a kid growing up! So when they opened up in Plano j was beyond excited! I love that they are consistent with their taste and their offering. I would recommend folks to try their specialties like all kinds of dosa, Channa batura Pongal , puri, filter coffee, etc I have also enjoyed their north India gravies and their fun thaali meals apart from their quick tiffins. This weekend we enjoyed the Pongal, batura , onion rava dosa which was made just perfectly, plain rava dosa and filter coffee! It was PERFECT! Taste has always been consistent and yummy, food js served hot, servers are quick and efficient and ambience is nice and clean! Tamil songs being played sometimes brings back loads of childhood memories

If you are in the north Dallas area and looking for a S. Indian Breakfast Pl. or a lunch place which is purely vegetarian I strongly recommend going to this restaurant. They have variety of combo options and an amazing filter coffee don't miss that. Their services is pretty good, but this place gets packed really soon so make sure you go ahead of time because there are no reservations, try to get your hands on some of the breakfast items. They are delicious and these are the staple food that Indians usually eat back in India. They have a really cool ambience.

We travelled from Seattle and tried this food chain for the first time. After hearing so highly about it, it definitely lived up to our expectations. We loved the food, service and ambiance.

Ordered Channa Bhathura and Ghee Onion Rava Dosa . It's always tasty here . To top it off you need a filter coffee

This restaurant is famous for its South Indian food and one morning we decided to have breakfast here as my last couple of visits to this place 5 years back during my visit to Dallas was wonderful. We ordered ghee ravva masala dosa, medu vada and Mysore bonda. The dosa and medu vada were good. But my complaint is regarding the Mysore bonda which was medu vada in the shape of a bonda,it was definitely not the regular Mysore bonda which is made from a different batter than medu vada. I was disappointed with this one dish. Also we ordered filter coffee and the person taking the order completely forgot about it and after reminding themabout it twice we got the coffee after finishing the food, though it tasted good the customer service was poor. I feel this is something that the management has to look into. Though the food was good the bad service left a sour taste in our mouths!

Super quick service and delicious veg options. We came Friday night for dinner, was seated immediately and attended to right away. We ordered a mango lassi, masala dosa, and paneer cheese dosa. Everything was delicious, tasted fresh, and came hot and ready. Dosa was huge and came with several chutneys and sambar. Mango lassi was also very refreshing and a perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Had a great experience!

Probably my most disappointing restaurant experience in town. I've been to saravanaa in India and UAE but never had such HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. We went there as a group of 8 (so that's already good business!) and the guy who showed us to our table showed us one table when we reminded him we were a group of 8, he said out loud in front of the guest who were occupying the table next to us, "they are done and leaving now" the guests looked embarrassed and just got up while not even finished with their drink. We ordered ghee dosa, masala dosa, Chana batura, vada, rasa vada, kesari baath & filter coffee. The lady who took our order was so rude and kept rushing us to give our order. She wasn't helpful when asked what she would suggest and she responded with "everything is good here, you just choose anything". Our orders all came at separate times which was also fine, but lot of our orders came out wrong. They brought us plain dosa instead of ghee thinking we wouldn't know the difference and when we corrected her she kept arguing and finally took it back to change it with a grumpy face. This is just an example of the food. It felt like we ordered something but she chose to ignore us and order whatever she wanted. We tried ordering a masala dosa to go and to chase us out she said "it'll take 35 mins so you'll have to go and come back for it" and we were still having our sweet and coffee. So she had plenty of time to put it into the system. My mom had to intervene and be stern with her to take the order and the dosa came out in 10 mins! Which made it look like they just want the money and don't care about anything else. I get they were busy but that's not an excuse. Apart from the vada and rasa vada nothing else tasted authentic. It was so bland and plain. You would think at least the food would be good despite the service but nope it was very disappointing and especially for the price you pay it's not worth being humiliated and disappointed for. I'm definitely not going back and neither are the 7 other disappointed people I went it.

We went for Saturday lunch. The place was very busy but we were seated right away, I was surprised how fast we got our food. All our food was out in 10 minutes . All the food was fresh and authentically flavorful. We ordered aloo poori and ended up getting another plate because it was so good. Poori came hot and fluffy. My husband got the idli and vada which was also very good. The mysoor bonda tasted more like the vada ( only item I would not order again.) Overall we enjoyed the food and would come again.

It sounds like Sarvana Bhavna offers a wide range of breakfast options. The dosa and chole bhatura stood out as your favorites, while the vegetable Thai dish was also enjoyable. It's a shame that the idly didn't meet your expectations, but the vada and chutneys seem to have left a positive impression.

Chocolate dosa has gross Hershey's syrup inside.

I've never seen so many brown people in my life in Dallas so you know it's legit. The wait was clearly an indicator of the popularity of this place and I could not believe how it went on and on inside. I should've counted how many people were working! The little chips were fun to munch on and I admit that I definitely had fun putting them on my fingers. I thought this was going to be healthy but no- the oil and the butter was insane. Between the roti and the crepe thing and all of the dipping sauces, just delicious. Will absolutely come back! Last thing, be careful as the floor is a bit slippery.

A place that promises a mix of South Indian classics along with Indo-Chinese favorites always piques my curiosity. So we decided to stop by and give it a try. Located in Frisco, Texas it is fairly easy to find. Parking was also manageable, which is always a plus. The place has a casual and welcoming vibe, nothing overly fancy, but comfortable and inviting. Even on a Tuesday, the place was packed. Fortunately, we had called and reserved a place. The décor leans toward a traditional Indian restaurant feel with a simple setup that keeps the focus on the food. We were soon seated and provided with Fryums, which we finished within a minute. The server wad happy to answer questions about the menu. We decided to explore a variety of items from different sections of the menu and the food came out at a reasonable pace. We ordered: 1 Mushroom ghee roast 1 Baby corn manchurian 1 Onion chilli uttapam 1 Benne dosa 1 Chole bhature 1 Set dosa with salna 1 Jackfruit biryani The 'Mushroom ghee roast', was truly excellent with great flavors. The mushrooms were nicely coated in the rich, spicy ghee roast masala, delivering that bold South Indian punch. Next came the 'Baby corn Manchurian',, a classic Indo-Chinese favorite. The baby corn had a good crunch and the sauce had that familiar tangy-spicy flavor you associate with hakka cuisine. For the dosa section, we tried the 'benne dosa', which had a nice buttery flavor and crisp texture- simple yet satisfying. The 'Set dosa with Salna' was soft and fluffy, and the salna added a nice aromatic gravy element to the dish. The 'Onion chilli uttapam' was thick, soft, and generously topped with brown onions, making it a comforting bite. All the above South Indian dishes were great but what blew us away was the 3 chutneys: Tamarind, Spicy Tomato Chilli and Green Peanut. They were absolutely delicious and took the food to another level. The Sambhar however was decent but not that great. Moving to the North Indian side, the 'Chole bhature' came with fluffy bhature and well-spiced chole. We absolutely loved the depth of flavor. Finally, the 'Jackfruit biryani' was an interesting and enjoyable dish. The jackfruit worked surprisingly well as a meat substitute, absorbing the biryani spices nicely and adding a unique texture. However, some of us found it to be bit more on the tangy side. To Foodies: If you enjoy exploring a wide range of Indian flavors, from South Indian breakfast classics to Indo-Chinese appetizers and hearty North Indian dishes, this place is worth checking out. The menu offers variety, and it's a good spot if you want to try multiple styles of Indian cuisine in one sitting. To Management: You have a solid and diverse menu that covers many Indian favorites. Continuing to maintain consistency in flavor and presentation will go a long way. A few standout dishes highlighted on the menu or recommendations from staff could also help first-time visitors navigate the wide selection. Overall Rating: 8.4 / 10 Signing off: Rahul V.S. aka CanIndian Foodie

If you really know Indian food, you know there are levels to this. Most places serve what I lovingly call Campbell's Soup Tikka Masala. Super sweet, neon red, one note, wrong color, wrong consistency. Basically tomato soup with sugar and turmeric pretending to be a masala. It fills you up, but it doesn't make you pause and savor anything. Spice Grove Indian Cuisine is not that place. This is the real deal. The flavors are layered, balanced, and clearly cooked with intention. Not overly sweet, not dumbed down, just full of garlic, spice, depth, and that unmistakable "this was done right" feeling you get when Indian food is executed properly. We ordered a spread, saag, tikka masala, butter chicken, korma, vindaloo, garlic naan, and honestly there wasn't a weak dish on the table. Everything had the right color, the right texture, and the right punch of flavor. This is food you slow down for. I won't say this is the single best Indian food I've ever had, I reserve that for a few heavy hitters like Dishoom and Brigadiers in London and Chola in New York City. But if those are 10s, this is a very solid 8.5, and that is high praise. They're busy for a reason. You cannot go wrong here. If you love Indian food, or want to understand why people love Indian food, just go. You'll leave happy and probably already planning your next visit.
