I found this place through an app, and I've been twice this month to check it out. The current ratings really undersell the quality of the food, as it has been some of the best Indian that I've had recently. I do absolutely love heat, and it has a solid spice level that is definitely noticeable, but not overpowering. Absolutely phenomenal and delicious Indian Buffet. If you are a fan of spicy, well-rounded, authentic food and want to not break the bank, this is the place. My hubby and I have been coming for years and absolutely love it. With the recent ownership change and beautiful remodeling, it is even better. Same delicious food, but now the ambiance is more in line with the quality of the food. We love all the updates and don't mind the slight change in price, which is extremely reasonable compared to the competition. $18.99 for a weekend buffet with multiple goat dishes and multiple seafood dishes is very reasonable. The goat biryani is the absolute best we've had anywhere. Also, they bring the spice. We love spicy food and this restaurant hits the spot when it comes to having not just spicy, but flavorful dishes. They have a huge variety of vegetarian and non-veg options. Our favorites are Gobi Manchurian, eggplant curry, vegetable fry, butter chicken, chicken biryani, goat biryani, goat curry, fish fry, shrimp curry, and the various kabobs, and so much more, including their delicious Masala Chai. Visited this place after 7 years and not much has changed. Stopped for Sunday lunch, place was very chaotic in seating and buffet line. We got seated and then were asked if we had reservation. Buffet has wide spread of appetizers which were ok, shrimp curry was extremely spicy. Chaat and Pani Puri were set up outside which we did not know until we asked. Mutton Mandi was ok! I got Basera delivered, so I can't speak to the actual restaurant, just the food. I got the aloo paratha, which was good and the chicken sheekh kabob, which was not. I was expecting chunks of chicken that had been marinated then cooked in a tandoori (as per the menu description) resulting in flavorful, tender, well spiced chicken. Online the options were mild, medium, spicy, and super spicy. Based on other reviews I dropped down from my usual spicy to medium. What got was some minced/ground chicken that had been mixed with spices, wrapped around a skewer, and baked unevenly. All of it was cooked, but some of it was burned. The combination of minced chicken and overcooking gave it a really unpleasant mouth feel- tough and lumpy. Additionally, the flavor was really off. It didn't lack for spice! The medium was almost too spicy to eat. It did lack for rich flavor. The chicken was served dry over cabbage with onion slices and a lime wedge. There was some type of thin milky sauce on the side, but it couldn't save the chicken. I wish I had thought to take a photo, but after a couple pieces i just tossed it. read more

My experience here has not been good. I ordered the food at 7:30 and it arrive at 9:15, which is slow but I could handle that. The 2 MILD butter chicken we got were spicy. Way spicier than butter chicken we have had elsewhere. My chicken vindaloo, which says boneless in the description was full of chicken bones. Check the pics attached. This is unacceptable when there is basically no chicken on the bones and tiny bones in the curry which you can easily choke on. There are better Indian food places around, I would not recommend this one based off my horrible first experience. read more

This review is for take-out only. I called in for a veg biryani and chicken tikka masala. My order was ready in about 15 mins. The chicken dish was sweet and flavorful, the butter naan that came with it was also great. I asked for the biryani to be mild but it came out super spicy. Don't get me wrong, the flavors were all there, but me thinks that is quite a dangerous mistake if the customer can't handle spiciness at all. Fortunately I can persevere through heat, but I wasn't able to share my dish with my kids. I would have given 4 stars for the food, but docking 1 off for that. The inside of the restaurant was quite spacious & when I picked up my order I saw some tables were reserved & there was a speaker prepared, so looks like you can host your event here should you want to! read more

Came here for dinner thinking they had a buffet. I was totally disappointed that they only do it at lunch. Anyhow this is a small location in frisco but the food and service was very good. The owner even took the time to explain the dishes to my friend that he never had Indian food. I would come back and definitely gotta do lunch!! Yesterday, November 1, 2023, my co-workers and I decided to dine at Basera Indian Cuisine. The food was so tasty and the spices so so so good! All of my entre selections were cooked and heated to perfection. There were easily some of my favorites there; the Chicken and Rice, the Fried Egg Plant (good spicy), The Goat's Meat and so many others. First I want to say that the food was excellent and the portion sizes were very big, and prices very reasonable. I have tried many Indian restaurants in Texas and can only think of one other besides this one that are any good. That being said, the service here is downright terrible, almost comically bad. It's like one of those places where the waitstaff is rude to you on purpose. The service was so outstandingly bad that I thought someone was playing an April fool's joke on me. The waitress (and only employee) asked if we were ready to order, but had nothing to write with. We said yes, and she stood there as if ready to take our order but didn't write anything down. As soon as we finished ordering, she immediately forgot our entire order. Then the waitress took the menu and started looking at it as if that would jog her memory. We ordered a second time. Before I could order a drink, she ran off and came back a few minutes later with two small bottles of water. I asked if they had iced tea and she acted as if that was a crazy request and said no they don't have iced tea, only water. We asked if we could have some ice and she came back with a single cup of ice. I asked if we could have another cup of ice since there were two of us. She came back with a second cup of ice but didn't give any straws. We asked if we could have straws and she gave us dirty looks and threw 5 straws at our table (there were 2 of us). The food arrived quickly but was served as if it was a takeout order. It came in styrofoam and plastic containers. We were given two paper plates, 4 plastic forks, 4 plastic spoons, and no knife. I asked if we could have a knife and the waitress says "knife? a knife???" as if it was a ridiculous request, before searching around trying to find a knife. Food was served spicier than I asked for but was excellent and authentic tasting. After quickly running out of ice, I asked the waitress if we could have more ice. She looked at me as if I was crazy and came back with, I kid you not, a gigantic salad bowl full of ice, and placed the bowl on the seat (not on the table), and with no way to get the ice out of the bowl and into our cups. Once finished, I asked if we could have a to-go box for the leftovers. Some time later, she came back with a long piece of aluminum foil. Could someone identity what is there in the picture? It's their "popular" Tandoori chicken. It was a delivery order and I think chef decided to pack it anyway even though it was burned to hell. Color of the meat was so dark, I thought it's a new mix of spices. I was wrong - first bite broke my teeth. It was that hard and bad. I could understand if it was over-cooked, but this was visibly burned and still sent over. Would I ever order from this restaurant? Would I recommend this to anyone? I read about the poor service, but I wanted to give it a try. We arrived at 11 am. The door was unlocked and the Open sign turned on, but no one was in the front of the restaurant. We waited for about 8 minutes. Finally we started calling out. A man walked out slowly, talking on the phone. We asked him if they were open yet, as there was no food in the buffet. He said they would not be open until the afternoon. No apologies, no explanation about the unlocked door or Open sign. This repeated 3 times until someone was finally handed my order at 1:15 PM. This is only the beginning of the terrible experience. I ordered the chhole bhatoore and aaloo paratha. They replaced the bhatoora in "chhole bhatoore" with a naan and skipped the aaloo paratha altogether. I was delivered a box of very averagely cooked chhole and naan. The food was exquisite, the service was delightful, they gave us water bottles instead of cups of water which I indeed prefer. At the highest spice level it was not unbearable, also with a good sized portion. The ambience of the restaurant was quite nice. The one star is for service. The place is falling apart. Food was not good at all. We ordered the veggie platter, they had no flavor, no spice or kick that you expect from Indian food. Also ordered the Chana batura plate-the worst I've tasted in my life. If you're a South Indian restaurant advertising North Indian food please learn how to cook it. If there was an option to give negative stars, I would have. This place is an absolute waste of time and money. They're liars, cheats and full of non sense. Last week, I placed a take out order and was told to reach at specific time to pick it up. I arrived at the time asked only to find out that my order wasn't ready. After waiting for 10 minutes at the restaurant's payment counter, I was told that my order would be ready in 5 minutes. And the same after 5 minutes, and the same, eventually resulting in a total wait time of 1.5 hours to pick up a pretty small sized order. It was ridiculous. In addition to that, they messed up the order!! If there is no other Indian food option available, do yourself a favor and eat another cuisine till you find an Indian food option. Basera is always one of the place in Plano where you want to go every time for lunch. They have variety of options for lunch especially in non-veg like chicken and shrimp. The last we have shrimp garlic which honestly fabulous and exotic ally delicious. Also they have variety of great options for dessert and we really like gulab jamun and ras-malai as well. Service is one area they need to work on. Also if you are going in bog group you need to book a table otherwise you need to wait atleast for 30 mins. read more

Being concern the fact that we where a large group I call to see if we could make reservations which they replied no, never the less Basera knew we were going to be at 1:30pm with 10 relatives. Now if your business is aware of the time and amount of customers they're expecting they should plan just in case they show up. We showed up and we had to split instead of planning to accommodate us together, meanwhile they're sitting small groups instead of taking the time and explain the other customers that they had to wait a few minutes due to they have to sit a large group who has been waiting. Resulting of us not being happy with the services, therefore I will never recommend this place or even inviting my family or business associates.
